Rich rod had his flaws but Lloyd  helped sabotage his successor and deserves a ranking hit for that.  He also lost to app st showing how fully unprepared they were to start the season.

“Lloyd didn’t leave for the nfl!”

well there was no interest from nfl franchises.  That’s the difference.

finally, the OSU teams of the 90s Lloyd beat are worlds different than the ones Jim beat

My guys

I started following at around age 7 in the mid 90s for what that’s worth

QB - Denard Robinson

RB - Anthony Thomas

WR - jason avant

TE - Jeremy tuman

OL - Jon jansen

DL - Mo hurst

LB - Lamarr Woodley

CB - Woodson

S - Ernest shazor

ST - phil brabs (was there when he hit the kick to beat Washington, and his story afterwards is inspiring)

be better

1. this thread is awful and you should be ashamed of yourself

2. You've mentioned in replies to said shitty thread that it is because you are "depressed"....Never be depressed over a football game, especially one you have no control over

3. Laying out a worst case scenario in February is moronic

4. even 5-7 would be better than 3-9 :)

I bet a friend that at the end of the year, brady would retire after his 6th superbowl win, and the pats would resign Jimmy...sometimes you just have to take your L and go home

Netflix: just watched "my next guest" by David letterman. The only episode currently out is his interview of obama. I found it to be very good

but i thought oakland was

but i thought oakland was still in play?

Have to eliminate penn state

Have to eliminate penn state right away because night games in November Michigan weather tend to be awful. I guess I'd lean wisc over Nebraska simply for a home field advantage over what should be the tougher of the two teams

true

totally forgot about that play.  what an awful miss.

I can still see woodson with his tinted visor picking off leaf in the endzone.  good times

to hell with the big ten for

to hell with the big ten for us only playing them once and it being in east lansing

I agree

I agree. People are acting like this year was a complete disaster, when is reality, this is closer to the norm than being undefeated.  The main difference in the last 10 years, is MSU improving and not being the gimme game it traditionally was.

And, while it does seem like a lot of bad luck goes our way, I think this may just be a phenomenon of those instances sticking out to us.  The plays that go in our favor seem to just be taken for granted, and assumed that's how things should have worked out.  A few examples that jump out right away...

1995: Mercury Hayes being called a catch to beat Virginia.  This was pre replay and in real time could have easily been called incomplete

1997: Washington st probably should have had one more play at the end of the game before the clock expired

2002: the final drive vs Washington, the "catch", then fumble forward for the first down to extend the drive; this led to the game winning FG

2005: After Carr argues, the officials agree to put 2 seconds back on the clock.  obviously that was huge, with the game winning TD to manningham with 1 second left

2011: the virgina tech catch ruled incomplete in OT

2012: the dileo slide Fg hold could have easily be called a false start

2015: the Minnesota QB having zero clock awareness and basically makes it so they can only run one play (THE WALL!)

...just a few instances of good luck that came to mind from somewhat recent times

quinn nordin

can we get Quinn grabbing his junk?

6 yards short...

maybe being 6 yards short of 1000 yards on the year motivated him to come back.  Our Oline knew what they were doing vs SC

burke's block was clean

burke's block was clean

buttt...

but now after re reading the OP, I realize it's in reference to last night, so I guess im talking out of my ass

for me yes

for me it did yes....

1.  it provides another week of playoff football.  I'm addicted so will selfishly take it.

2. I think it would define specific parameters to get bids.  could simply take the 5 power conference winners, top non-power 5 team (as long as they are ranked top 15 of something of that nature), and then 2 at large bids

Brain on fire

your struggle to previously find a proper diagnosis, and now, helpful treatment, reminds me of a great book I read about a year ago.  "Brain on fire: my month of madness".  great quick read that can really give some insights to those in such a helpless situation.

Appreciate you being so up front with the blog on this personal issue.  If it helps even just one person, it's worth it.  thoughts going your way brother!

Saban

Saban has to be the only coach in the country who would have made that switch at halftime. Unfortunately, I would see harbaugh sticking to "his guy" rather than taking the risk with a true freshman

An understanding

Fighting amongst players has some unwritten rules. Once they go to the ground, you'll rarely see a sucker punch. More often, guys will say "good fight". I also think fighting in hockey is invoked by the nature of the play. The game is built on scrums in the corner for the puck, battles in front of the next, and riding players into the boards on rushes. This combined with the free flow of the game (opposite of football with the constant stops) is sort of conducive to the escalation into a fight.

maybe

maybe mallet sticks around if he has a solid option to throw to?  Maybe being the true #1 with manningham gone improves his stock to better than a 7th round pick?  Maybe he is the difference maker and we get a big win against toledo LOL

exactly

exactly!  also, it's hard to truly judge until Patricia brings his own staff in.

seems like a bold claim

seems like a bold claim.  We just saw Nagy's offense go totally stagnet once they lost Kelce.  Not to mention, against the titans, which has not been great this season.  It seems like after the success of the Rams and McVay, this may be the trend to go out and hire a young gun.  I personally like the Patricia hire and could give a shit about his "sloppy" apearance.

interesting

kinda interesting that UCF went 12-0, and beat auburn in their bowl game.  Who did both alabama and georgia lose to in the regular season?....none other than auburn

To hell with saban

Sabans act has gotten real old. Real tired of him consistently pleading his case on why bama deserves to be in. Go dawgs!

really?

nothing says violence like a stoner on the wacky tobaccy!

right around now

Right around now, is when reading these "10 years ago..." posts, is going to get very painful.  also, arrington going pro early was very puzzling at the time, and may have contributed to his 9 reception NFL career.  Fun fact though, he is now the offensive coordinator of the cedar rapids titans, an indoor football league team.
Good for him!

found safe

usually these types of situations don't end well if the individual isn't found within the first couple days.  Glad this was of the positive variety
