As for one Spartan fan on TOC, I'm not sure they are happy for us.
"
They should have taken Boise.
Fuck Michigan in their stupid fucking faces.

He's right, they should have taken Boise....instead of Va Tech.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:16 PM ^
I am interested to see what kind of game Western will give Purdue.

Fuck msu

ATM-Northwestern, Stanford-OSU, Illinois-UCLA. I feel bad for Iowa. ALSUNC is dead to me. FSU-ND is interesting mostly because ND played Miami last year.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
All I can hope is that I can get rid of my NYE in New Orleans hangover by kickoff.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
If you have a 2 day hangover then sir, you are doing it right
December 4th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
When in New Orleans...
December 4th, 2011 at 9:34 PM ^
You can't get a hangove if you don't stop drinking.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:03 PM ^
I have tested this theory many times. It turns out it is not true.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
you're still drinking?
December 4th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
The BCS proved it's no better than a cheap prostitute. How does Virginia Tech get in a BCS bowl over a Baylor/KSU/Boise? And then the whole LSU/Bama deal....I'm glad for Michigan, but the whole thing is ridiculous
December 4th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
Iowa might wanna call in sick on the 30th.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:22 PM ^
I hope B1G goes 8 - 2. Msu and Ohio get beat

December 4th, 2011 at 9:47 PM ^
Like Viper said to Jester, "Got you, didn't he?"
Heck, they beat us! (Granted it took 2 TDs called back and a pass interference no call)
They will be fine! I hate Oklahoma!

December 4th, 2011 at 9:19 PM ^
There's three or four interesting games.
But not a very good schedule overall.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
There are so few bowl games worth watching this year. How could anyone look at this schedule and argue FOR the bowl system? I can't see myself watching any pre-2012 bowl games.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
MSU vs UGa ... Good matchup.

I kind of wanted to see M vs Boise. VT will be great though.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
double post.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
Lots of good match-ups. I like the B1G vs. SEC match-ups. Good measuring sticks.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
makes me sad. What a waste of a BCS game.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
December 4th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
I am going to echo Herbstreit's assessment of the Sugar Bowl. Yes, we deserve to be there. But Va. Tech? That is a joke. This is supposed to be about the best of the rest. How can a team who just got destroyed by Clemson and already had a loss get an at-large bid over K-State, Baylor, Boise St., etc?

Money should not be the deciding factor. That's not the purpose of the BCS. And no need to tell me money controls everything, I know this.

On a side note, how about Craig James giving Michigan so much love! First he ranks us 10th and then says Brady Hoke should be COY over Bill Snyder. And everybody on here hates him! Haha..I'll continue to dislike him, however.

Go Blue!
December 4th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
I can understand the Sugar Bowl's thinking. They lost a shot on a good SEC team because the BCS is doing a re-match, and VT travels extremely well. Plus, they aren't that bad. I definatly agree Boise deserves more though.
Also, I have a hard time repecting Craig James most of the time. I read somewhere on the internet he killed 5 hookers while at SMU.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
This is the definition of a homer statement. We are deserving but VT is only in for money reasons? Everyone knows we're only in because of our huge fan base (i.e. huge cash flow). I'm super excited that we're in the Sugar Bowl but this is a pretty bogus argument.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:55 PM ^
Stop it. Out of the eligible at large teams, I would be confident in saying we have the best team and we have an upward trajectory. Do you disagree? KSU is better than us? Boise is better than us? Baylor is better than us? The computers love the Big 12 but the people who decide bowls don't see the same thing.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
Who knows who's better than us unless we play them, or at least play the same teams. I do know that we're ranked 13th. And I also know in the 100 threads this week trying to project where we would go that the consensus on this blog was that we would go if eligible because of our fan base and revenue potential. So now that we're in that doesn't apply? Like I said, I'm as happy as anyone, but let's be real here.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:00 AM ^
I think State has a better team than we do this year. And even if, subjectively, you think that Michigan has improved to the point that would likely beat State in a rematch, there's no fucking point to actually playing games if that subjective evaluation matters more than the results on the field. It's one thing to argue that Alabama is a better team than Okie State. I personally think this is bullshit too, because it denies the opportunity to at least test - if imperfectly - whether that is the case by pitting the Cowboys against LSU. But at least Bama and Okie State never squared off head to head. We did against MSU, and we lost. That's what matters. We should forget about 'better' entirely and look only at results.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:34 AM ^
If they finished in the top 14 they'd have a gripe. They finished at #17 - and not because of the human polls either, which put them a spot behind us. Sparty got dogged by the computers. Why? Look I imagine they saw that our two losses were by twenty points total, one to a top 25 and one to an unranked, and Sparty's were by 39 to a top 25 and an unranked. Head-to-head is probably not even evaluated on a lot of the computers. Otherwise, we both have one top-25 win, Sparty has an additional win and a loss - to the same team - which may even get factored as a tie to a top-ten team. So positive, but not by much.
At the end of the day, if Sparty had been close against ND or Nebraska they'd have an argument. They weren't, and so they weren't eligible.
The only folks who have a legit gripe are K-State - who's playing #6 Arkansas in the Cotton - and OK St. And I don't feel so bad for K St. So, poor Pokes. They got hosed. The BCS is screwed up in that way, and I hope Alabama gets slaughtered and the system is reformed. Otherwise the rest of the matchups are kind of awesome.
December 5th, 2011 at 2:31 AM ^
I'm sleep deprived, and may try to refine the logic of my rant tomorrow, but I'll point out that TCU and - especially - Boise St. also got reamed pretty fucking fierce.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:46 AM ^
In which case Nebraska and Notre Dame are both better than MSU and deserve the bid more than Sparty does. How do you objectively, results-based, determine who among Michigan, MSU, and Nebraska is the best team? Well, you don't, you have to look beyond the games played between 'em, and you find that Michigan lost fewer of them.
December 5th, 2011 at 1:33 AM ^
Iowa State should be in the Fiesta Bowl.
December 4th, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
So....what is the purpose of the BCS then? Besides matching up the #1 vs #2 teams in the country.
Face it - the answer is money. That's the purpose of the BCS. Ally some bowls together so they can get major-league matchups and rake in more dollars than they would have otherwise. And in the sense of taking a team because they put asses in the seats and jack up the TV ratings, what makes the BCS different from any other bowl?
December 4th, 2011 at 9:22 PM ^
Why do they keep putting the sec vs b1G games on at the same time?
December 4th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
o$u at 6-6 playing on Jan.2 ?? It really is all about $$$$.
It was enough of a head scratcher when we played Jan.1 last year after going 7-5, but this ?!?!
December 4th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
December 4th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
Wouldn't that be something if Meyer was calling the game? I know it won't happen but that would be horrible for both teams fans
December 4th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
UCLA in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl? You gotta be kidding me. More people will be hungry after this one.
There are way to many bowl games.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl is being played by two teams that do not have coaches. Fantastic.

Kraft did.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
Call me crazy but I think the Big Ten goes 8-2.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
You crazy
December 4th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
A lot of favorable matchups for B1G teams. The only big underdogs might be Wisky and Iowa.
Va Tech, Georgia, SC, Houston, Florida, A&M, UCLA (lol) ... All very beatable.
December 5th, 2011 at 2:39 AM ^
I hate you, but please, for the love of God, beat Georgia. We can't have re-matches of what happened to both of us last year. We need make some God damn pride and reputation for our conference.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
I think you're crazy. I looked at that, and I think the only Big Ten favorites will be us, Purdue and Illinois, and even those are pretty close. The rest of the Big Ten has a tough slate.
