TomVH: Demetrius Hart, Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix Update
Here's another update on Demetrius Hart, since there have been quite a few questions about him recently. I last posted that he will be announcing his decision sometime next week. I spoke with Dee's mom and she told me that he will be making his final decision Tuesday of next week, or Wednesday at the latest.
Remember that Demetrius and his family are going up to Alabama for an official visit this weekend. They will also be joined by teammates Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix (Current Alabama commit) and Chris Gallon, along with Demetrius' running back coach, who happens to be an Alabama fan.
I also spoke with Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix yesterday about a recent comment he made about the weather being a factor at Michigan. He had said that it was too cold, and he didn't think he would like that. It now seems that he is taking a different stance.
I would have to get used to the weather eventually anyway, so it's not a big deal anymore. Dee and I are going to be coming back up there for an unofficial, I'm just not sure when yet.
2012 Nick Patti will also be coming back up to Michigan for the Wisconsin game, and I also gave an update the other day about another Dr. Phillips teammate in Roderick Ryles, who has started to hear from the Michigan coaches.

unless Dee will be committed to Michigan.....bingo!
September 29th, 2010 at 8:03 PM ^
Well put. I was a little late on the draw. I'm no huckleberry.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:20 PM ^
+1 to you sir for the semi-Tombstone reference.
September 30th, 2010 at 9:39 AM ^
I'm ya huckleberry...
September 29th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
Why would Clinton-Dix visit Michigan if he's a sure thing for Alabama?
September 29th, 2010 at 10:40 PM ^
If Dee commits next week Wednesday at the latest, and he's already planning an unofficial, what else could it be other than to convince Ha-Ha?
and I reading between the lines with Blue colored glasses?
September 29th, 2010 at 8:29 PM ^
This. Initially I had concerns that Dee scheduled his announcement immediately after his official to another school (in other contexts, this could be a bad sign). But if he is indeed going to go Blue, then committing any time before your last official visit could make those visits. . .more awkward. This way he gets to take in a pretty good Alabama-Florida matchup and still be issued a helmet with wings.
Or I'm over-rationalizing due to the miserable wait.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
It could be a good sign. Let's hope the Saban "smarmy factor" is revealing itself to the recruits.
September 29th, 2010 at 9:17 PM ^
RichRod's "family values" will trump Saban's "smarmy factor".
September 29th, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
Family Values + Snake Oil + Wizard Hat > Saban's smarmy factor
September 29th, 2010 at 10:00 PM ^
I was also thinking that Dee and Ha Ha may be seeing the high profile Denard has received and might just like to ride on his coattails for some of that national spotlight and love.
September 30th, 2010 at 12:18 PM ^
There will be plenty of love for these two all on their own. Besides, there's no riding of coat tails around here...just the TEAM.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:00 PM ^
that sounds.... great! thanks for the update. 4 potential big time recruits - I like where things are headed! Sounds more and more like Hart will be committing to UM next week.
GO BLUE!
September 29th, 2010 at 8:00 PM ^
That sounds like a good thing if they are planning on coming back. It would be awkward if they all dopped for Bama and then came back up here for an unoffical, IME...
September 29th, 2010 at 8:18 PM ^
Yes! My thougths exactly. Why commit to Bama, then take an UNofficial all the way up to Michigan to watch a game? Ok, I know UM is the real deal holyfield, but it doesn't make sense to me. To me it look like a Leprechuan to me.

+1 for the effortless boxing reference and a quote from my favorite youtube video.
September 30th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
Lettin them hookers and hoes know how he feels.
September 29th, 2010 at 9:51 PM ^
I dont think Dee wants to go to Bama where they have a bunch of these running around
September 29th, 2010 at 8:00 PM ^
very much appreciated!
September 29th, 2010 at 8:01 PM ^
indicate that he'll pick MIchigan.
HaHa is a long shot but it'd be a heck of an effort by Michigan coaches to flip his commitment from Bama to Michigan if that were to happen.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:02 PM ^
Dee, please commit. You can have my sister.

Good enough for me. Can I get her number?
September 29th, 2010 at 11:04 PM ^
I want to +1 you for the reference.... and then -1 you for getting the song stuck in my head. Hey look it evened out for you.

Jenny is such a beautiful name.

She was in my Psych 111 class!

Sorry dude, but there is no way Pam Ward is in your psych class
September 29th, 2010 at 8:25 PM ^
a/s/l?
September 29th, 2010 at 8:41 PM ^
Oh, you meant her....
September 29th, 2010 at 8:30 PM ^
I thought Kiffin left Tennessee.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:02 PM ^
It seems likely that neither of these players will be/are locks as verbal commits for Alabama (or Michigan, should Hart verbally commit to U of M)...I suppose their visit to Michigan could just be for fun (at least in the case of Clinton-Dix).
Thanks for the update Tom.
September 29th, 2010 at 11:05 PM ^
Yes but early enrollee helps the LOI happen sooner rather than later right?
September 29th, 2010 at 11:52 PM ^
I can see taking an official visit "just for fun" but not if you're paying for it.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:03 PM ^
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Nothin like some good news to end a crappy Wednesday
September 29th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
maybe sam webb's mystery 5 star visitor isn't quite so secret anymore.......or maybe he is...
September 29th, 2010 at 8:19 PM ^
From what I understood of Webb's podcast, his mystery visitor is someone who looked at Michigan, decided it wasn't right for him, but is re-evaluating his decision to let them go now. I wouldn't be shocked if it was HaHa, so I don't think it's him. More likely, it seems to be someone like Trey Depriest, Steve Miller, Doran Grant, or George Farmer
September 29th, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
Karlos Williams. He was another guy keeping an eye on Michigan and how they played this year. I have a feeling he might be friends with Dee as well. I know they both were at the Disney 7 on 7.
September 29th, 2010 at 10:53 PM ^
Karlos is already on record that he may want to come up and check out a game this year.
September 30th, 2010 at 7:58 AM ^
What about De'Anthony Arnett? I know many will say that ship has sailed, but he is a top 3 WR in this class, liked UM, but decided he wasn't a fit in the offense, but he has since seen the QB depth and how the WR's are used as both receiving threats and legitimate blockers (something NFL scouts would drool over). Maybe his position has softened.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:04 PM ^
HaHa (a Bama Commit) + his running back coach (a Bama Fan) + Nick Saban = not good
September 29th, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
Did you read the post at all?
September 30th, 2010 at 8:48 AM ^
It isn't that he didn't read, he just cares too much.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:05 PM ^
"I would have to get used to the weather eventually anyway"
Sounds like someone has pointed out to him, or he realized on his own, that the NFL has lots of teams that play outside in the cold of November, December and January.
Maybe someone has also shown him our depth chart in the secondary.
September 29th, 2010 at 8:06 PM ^
This is probably the best update we've had on Dee Hart since I started paying close attention. If Ha'Sean is softening a bit, I can only assume that Dee is at least leaning Blue. (But what the heck do I know!)
Does anyone follow Alabama blogs or get any information to Alabama's equivalent of Tom? (Not that anyone could be his "equivalent" but you know what I mean.) Do they have a similar "Dee Hart Watch" like we on MGoBlog do?
September 29th, 2010 at 8:17 PM ^
I spoke to an Alabama fan with access to all the usual stuff on their end (Rivals, Scout, etc). He told me the general feeling on their end is Dee's visit is more of a formality than anything. The general "you never know what can happen on a visit" disclaimer applies, but Alabama is much more focused on Isiah Crowell out of Georgia.
That combined with the hype of the Auburn visit being overblown, and I fully expect Dee to be a Michigan commitment a week from now.
September 29th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
I was told the exact same thing by my Alabama friend who's all over their Rivals stuff. He said they're focused on Crowell and he was under the impression from what the mods had said that Hart doesn't even have a committable offer. He said he'd be shocked if Dee didn't go Blue... and with that said, he also said if Crowell goes to UGA and then Bama goes full court press on Dee, he'll bail on Blue. That part may have been RTR homer talking though.
September 29th, 2010 at 11:20 PM ^
But with the way the Dawgs season is going..............
September 29th, 2010 at 8:07 PM ^
along with all other named Alabama connections to Dee makes me nervous but I will remain hopeful that he is Blue!
