Cardale looks like our guy... but also depends on... you know... CC
December 5th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
It would be great if we could get Cardale. It'd put our foot in the door for future Glennville prospects.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:41 PM ^
Cardale is not the best fit for this current offense...he simply lacks the athleticism. I wouldn't mind taking him, but to count on a Glenville kid to be "our guy" is setting yourself up for disappointment.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:45 PM ^
I agree with you 100%.
He would be better in a pro style offense.
GO BLUE!!!!!

Do. Not. Want.
December 5th, 2010 at 3:32 PM ^
are you hoping the schollie goes to another position or will they still go after a qb?
December 5th, 2010 at 3:45 PM ^
They've gotta go after another QB. Three quarterbacks on the roster - at least one of whom might transfer, depending on the coaching situation - is not enough. I don't know if they'll still try to get Marquise Williams or what, but they wanted Sousa for a reason.
December 5th, 2010 at 7:17 PM ^
Not sure I understand... so I'll follow up with two questions:
1. Who would transfer if there were a coaching change? Denard?
2. Do you like Sousa? From what I've seen, I really want him at Michigan (selflishly) but wanted your take
December 5th, 2010 at 7:24 PM ^
I'm not saying anyone WOULD. But I'm not sure that Denard fits the mold of a Jim Harbaugh quarterback, and he might need to be convinced to stay if Harbaugh comes.
I do like Sousa. I'm disappointed that he decommitted, and I hope Michigan can pull in another QB.
December 5th, 2010 at 7:36 PM ^
Ah okay, I just wanted to make sure I understood what you meant. Hopefully, we won't have to find out. If he transferred, that would be a huge loss, on and off the field. I would argue bigger than the Mallett transfer.

for awhile a couple months ago, if I have my time frame right; actually, if I remember correctly Kevin was told that Williams was they guy they wanted more. I like Sousa, he's raw but he's got potential. Hate to lose him, good luck to him.
I know Jones is more of a pro-style QB but I think he could make a good impact in our offense. To me, he has the potential to be what Coach envisioned Steve Threet to be, a guy who throws a good ball, has good field awareness, and is enough of a running threat to keep the defense honest. Perhaps I'm too much of a 'glass half-full' kind of guy, but Cardale appears to have some real good instincts as a QB, and I think he would be a good asset for the squad.
December 5th, 2010 at 7:56 PM ^
To me, he has the potential to be what Coach envisioned Steve Threet to be, a guy who throws a good ball, has good field awareness, and is enough of a running threat to keep the defense honest.
It's not like Threet was the ideal guy for this offense. Hell, Nick Sheridan started over him until Sheridan turned out to be inaccurate and turnover-prone. It's no coincidence that Rodriguez's quarterbacks have historically been guys like Rasheed Marshall, Woody Dantzler, Pat White, Denard Robinson, etc. Pocket-style quarterbacks have only been used as a last resort for Rodriguez.
I just don't think it's a good fit at all. The fact that you're comparing him to Steve Threet should tell fans everything they need to know about how well Jones might fit.

Did JPS actually comment on the Victors? A link to that would be awesome, if you have one handy.

As the month of december wines on with no word from DB,lets play who will be our next decommit?Anyone?
December 5th, 2010 at 6:38 PM ^
this is a ridiculously huge misstep by brandon and will cost commits and any momentum there was in recruiting. just a joke all around and michigan is exactly 1 step away from being notre dame, think about that one, its true. i personally will not support harbaugh any more than the rodriguez haters support him now or even when he was hired. you simply DO NOT trash your alma mater on a national stage. thats like betting in baseball.you can all make excuses and pretend like its alright, forgive and forget, but it shows a complete lack of integrity and gary moeller was fired for the same thing a hippy lax california school took no action over. this situation is unacceptable on every level.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:37 PM ^
TomVH can get ahold of him on his....
Sousaphone...
But seriously, good luck to him. I liked Sousa.

info in pic/header.

Also on the front page of Wake Forest's Rivals site now...
December 5th, 2010 at 1:40 PM ^
Meh, whatever. Nothing is official until signing day but can't blame the kid as our depth chart is pretty stacked at QB. We need a guy willing to ride the pine for awhile and if that is not in his plans he will be better off at Wake Forrest.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
Who really knows why he is moving on to WF if this is true. I am not positive that riding the pine was the reason, even though he did say that.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
I know he had some doubt in his ability to play with the "big dogs" which was (reportedly) assuaged when he came up on his visit. Maybe that wasn't the case, however.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
It was mentioned enough times that it was probably at least part of the reason. Though I have to suspect that a lack of love from the coaching staff of late might be factoring in, as well.
December 5th, 2010 at 3:42 PM ^
Can't really blame the kid since it sounds like he got the cold shoulder treatment during his official visit while we were still after Marquise Williams
December 6th, 2010 at 12:31 AM ^
Yeah Sousa definitely had potential down the road which makes it strange that he really waned to get that early playing time. You would think that having a couple of years to develop would help him maximize that potential instead of just being thrown into the fire. I mean game-time experience is quite beneficial, but as far as mechanics go a redshirt year and a year or two backing up our three-headed monster would make him ready to step in when his time came like the Michigan QB's of the past.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:42 PM ^
Good luck if true. Kid had potential. I am guessing that we need another QB for this class since we offered Kevin and M. Williams.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:46 PM ^
We'd bring in a quarterback in every class. However, we (fingers crossed) won't lose another QB for at least two years. I think it'll be interesting to see how low we're willing to go for a QB, or if we'll just settle for what we've got now.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:55 PM ^
I think Cardale is the only recruit that is out there unless we flip someone else.
December 5th, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
It'd be interesting to see if the coaches being to go after an under-the-radar, raw prospect, or just stick with going after the QBs we've already offered.
December 5th, 2010 at 7:28 PM ^
What's funny is that "under-the-radar & raw" pretty much describes Sousa to a tee.
December 5th, 2010 at 2:01 PM ^
Double post. Here's a kitten.
December 5th, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
Your kitty.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
Back to the drawing board. For the past few months we've seen some hesitation from Sousa regarding having to wait 2-3 years before even seeing the field, and if the kid wants a chance at early playing time, then Michigan isn't the best place for him.
Good luck to Kevin at Wake, unless he plays against Michigan, in which case I hope we destroy him. :)
December 5th, 2010 at 1:45 PM ^
It would have been nice to have a sousa in the house.
Alas.
I'm not buggin' about this.
Many days between now and NSD.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
how much Devin Gardner's we-wish-we-hadn't-played-him medical redshirt played into Sousa's decision (if Sousa has indeed decommitted).
December 5th, 2010 at 1:53 PM ^
committed to Wake
December 5th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
how can someone choose Wake Forest over Michigan?
oh well... atleast we're set at QB for the next four years
December 5th, 2010 at 1:51 PM ^
Earlier playing time, job stability of the coaches, closer to home, etc.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
I wonder how stable Grobe's position is right now. I know he signed a big extension a few years back, but Wake has stunk the past few seasons (5-7 then 3-9). Another disappointing season could put him squarely on the hot seat.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:52 PM ^
A few off the top of my head based on pure speculation:
- playing time
- proximity to home
- lack of feeling "wanted"
December 5th, 2010 at 1:55 PM ^
He had mentioned for a while that the coaches had fallen out of consistent contact with him...
December 5th, 2010 at 2:02 PM ^
That would sux if true, but I guess that is just part of the game. It sux that we struck out with both in the end.

One more scholarship for defense.........assuming Tate doesn't transfer, they're set at QB for now.
December 5th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
I think he's past that phase..

If the last few years have taught us nothing, anything can happen.
