Only DeAnthony Arnett. I was excited for that. I am glad he saw that air attack.
November 7th, 2010 at 6:50 PM ^
Single game receiving record you'd think that the negative recruiting of RR and Michigan not having an air attack should be lessened or at least they'll have data points to argue their point.

Arnett has had enough time to see that UM throws the ball. He didn't have an epiphany yesterday. Assuming he had no idea up till yesterday, he then wasn't following anything U of M was doing and I honestly wouldn't want him at UM. But, I think he's been following what UM has been doing. The question isn't whether he was concerned with U of M's air attack but if he wants to play for these coaches and play along with these players. I don't think he fits in with the culture at U of M. I think MSU has a better shot with him, imho. As always, I'll be more than happy to be proven wrong if he ends up coming to U of M but don't hold your breath.

I think its a culture thing with him more than the offense
November 7th, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
I'm kind of curious by what you mean by culture.
November 7th, 2010 at 8:46 PM ^
Family values are important to him...He wants to play for a self proclaimed Christian coach that gives convicts a pass and has his Christian soldiers run violent dorm crusades on the student body. A "win at all costs" coach such as RR, you know, the kind of guy that benches his All-american level QB to further protect him from a possible head injury, even when his job is pretty much on the line, is not his cup of tea.

Arnett seemed to be very pleased that Michigan was throwing the ball so effectively.
the title of the scout article is "They throw the ball," a quote from the interview. I don't think Mr. Webb would have used that if it wasn't relevant to Arnett.
DeAnthony also said the coaches came up to him after the game and asked him "who said we don't throw the ball?"
Just saying that I think the passing game blowing up is helping our chances.
Are you calling Arnett a thug?
November 7th, 2010 at 10:30 PM ^
that discussions of "culture" are risky territory on here. The risk of insulting recruits or their families, even inadvertantly, is quite high. You bet many of them read this blog, as its the best source of info on the program. Even being vague about it can backfire, as people start to wonder what someone really means...

That was Arnett playing with people e-stalking him. He was there.

Speaking of Arnett, I just read on mgorecruit that Arnett is apparently planning to announce later this week.

Not sure if this is a new development, but it was news to me.

Bet the kids from Dr. Philips are pissed they didn't get to come up for this one. Hopefully they at least got to watch it on TV together.
November 7th, 2010 at 6:51 PM ^
oh im sure every recruit on michigan's radar got to catch the game on espn
November 7th, 2010 at 6:56 PM ^
I guess one of the good things about playing a noon game is that you don't have to compete against many other "good games".
November 7th, 2010 at 11:02 PM ^
I can see them all sitting over at Dee's house watching UM in the "Game of the Week" and Dee is just sitting there with a big smile on his face, saying "Who's coming with me?" :)

General question: How close to the field are the recruits during the game? Do they stand on the sideline, or are they in the club seats? Or, do they have first row seats in a certain section?
In one respect, it'd be cool for them to be close to the UM bench, so they can see the players, coaches, and experience the game like a player. Then again, if they wanted to see the true beauty of the offense, it is best experienced from about 25 rows up in the stands (in my opinion).
November 7th, 2010 at 7:00 PM ^
I think they start off on the field during warm-ups, then move to seats. Someone from my high school was being recruited for a non-revenue sport and they hooked them up with tickets low in the bowl between the 35's. Also, I don't think the NCAA allows recruits to be in the club level or boxes. At least that's what I got out of the Iowa kerfuffle.
November 7th, 2010 at 7:01 PM ^
from what I have observed, they are down on the field during pre-game and warmups then watch the game from the Michigan sideline, maybe on like the 30 or 40 yd line toward the student section 15-20 rows up.
November 7th, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
When I was on the field at a Cal game the recruits were in front of me, almost next to the players on the current roster. Hope this helps.
November 7th, 2010 at 8:41 PM ^
MSU had their recruits on the fifty yard line starting at the fifth row, and going up to the twentieth row.
(I was in the twenty first row and actually got to talk to a couple of them. I don't remember their names but one was a Spartan through and through, but the other one wanted to play for Michigan - I never checked to see where either on went.)
1997 MSU game - Woodson's INT right in front of us. Damn, that was sweet.
November 7th, 2010 at 7:48 PM ^
I had sideline passes for Iowa and what I saw was that the recruits were on the field until the coin toss and then they go into the stadium. They all sit in the first five rows directly behind the Michigan bench near many of the player families. The all have front row center seats. They go back down on the field after the game and are allowed back through the tunnel to the locker room. There were a ton of guys for that game, some have already committed and others that haven't yet. There were also probably some younger guys there as well. They have to pay for their ticket, but Michigan gives them a seat with the other recruits.

I saw Arnett, Crockett, Morgan, and the 2012 rb Mahone at the game, but that's nothing new that Tomalready told us. The 67 pts should show Arnett, Morgan, and Mahone what they can do in this offense. For Morgan i hope it shows him the PT he can get here.

I saw Aryn Curtis, a sleeper WR out of West Bloomfield
November 7th, 2010 at 9:31 PM ^
I also saw him, couldnt remember last name. Knew there were a couple kickers there too. I saw 1 recruit that had a kickers body and mom had a soccer scarf.
November 7th, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
Anyone care to elaborate on the "culture thing"? Does he prefer ski masks over helmets with wings??
Why would someone that grew up a fan and lives this close not want to go to Michigan and play in an awesome offense?
November 7th, 2010 at 8:49 PM ^
Family values are important to him...He wants to play for a self proclaimed deeply spiritual coach that gives convicts a pass and has his Christian soldiers run violent dorm crusades on the student body.
