Michigan vs. Michigan State - Predict the Score
OK, we've had the random prediction thread, but now it's under 30 hours to kickoff before the big game, so let's put it on the line. Predict the score.
I'm going to say 28-24 Michigan. I think these games usual become more of a grind, and the score won't be as high people think it will be, as the largeness of the game usually has a more conservative bent. Michigan gets the one "stop" that has Dantonio going for the FG that fans question afterwards. Michigan doesn't score 42 because they attempt a couple of FGs themselves, but don't make them, stopping us from taking a big enough lead to ever have a breather.
I'm not thinking we're going to roll, I think MSU certainly can win this game. But I'm sticking to my thoughts that we should and need to win this game at home, and to continue on to the record I predicted before season (still on target....), this is a game I have us winning.
So, we'll have something to celebrate Saturday night. I may not make it through the game alive, so you may be celebrating without me, but I'll die a happy man.
What are you saying?
(And yes, I have no problem in this thread with people who want to rationally predict a Spartan win. Assuming you're not a Spartan trolling).

Do you dine with the crazy guy from Happy Gilmore? I would ask if Shooter joins the both of you, but I know better.

Mich wins 42-34.
I'll say 4 TDs by #16, one pick six courtesy of Captain Kirk and a special teams return.

The fear and paranoia that have been gripping us all for days departs before halftime when we go up by - yes - 17 in the second quarter. Remember, Brabbs is on the field for this game!
MSU never closes within 10, Greg Jones looks silly several times, 38-24.

42-28 Michigan

be up by 7 points or more if MSU has the ball last. My heart will not be able to take watching our D try to stop them from scoring a TD.
Prediction: Michigan 35, MSU 27
GO BLUE!

41 UofM
34 MSU
5 TDs and scary enough 2 FGs for the Good guys
4 TDs and 2 FGs for MSU
We jump out early in the first quarter after MSU realizes that Lippett != Dilithium with 2 TDs to take a 14-0 lead. We then trade back and forth before we score a TD at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Spartie makes it interesting with a late TD drive but fail to get the onside kick.

Eat your food Tina!
You got it inverted, 38-21 Michigan...heading into the 4th quarter. UM ices it with their run game to power to a 48-28 victory.

Shocker of the day: we kick not one, but TWO field goals.
October 8th, 2010 at 11:11 AM ^
Spartans will try to run early, thus eating up the clock and keeping the first half score down. They fall behind and have to open it up and the track meet is on. The fastest guy wins the race.

Defense steps up with Herron back with key sacks. Michigan pulls some plays out for Sparty. Keshawn Martin makes secondary look bad and returns a kick for a TD. DRob continues dominance until further notice.

UM 35 MSU 31
We come from behind and Denard leads us to victory, again.

I think we do an ok job against MSU's run but they burn us with play action a lot. Our O should execute well, as MSU's secondary is still shaky and their DL doesn't get great pressure.
That 33 comes like this: we are up 38-27 when they get a late score with their 2-minute drill, but they don't get the 2-point conversion. We then fall on the onside kick and run out the clock.

I find it hilarious that so many of you think that what is statistically speaking, one of the worst defenses in the nation is going to hold MSU to less than 35 points. I guess some magical fairy dust will be sprinkled on the defense before the game and all of a sudden they'll have transformed into a competent defense.
MSU 42-35
October 8th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
Wow...so you think MSU's going to score one extra touchdown beyond what people on this thread expect?
Yeah, that's worth getting your panties in a bunch.

MSU's offense is twice as good as Indiana's... MSU is going to score 84!
October 8th, 2010 at 12:45 PM ^
Indiana's offense did whatever they wanted to all game and they only scored 35.

Michigan 63 Michigan State 0. Michigan switches to a 4-3, inserting Roh and Big Will on the D-line, blitzing every down and going to bump and run coverage.
October 8th, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
I think our offense will roll and surprise the so called "tough defense" of MSU. In addtion our defense is ready to have the best game of the year with the home crowd. GO BLUE!!
