Alabama In Dallas In 2012: All But Official
Via the axeman himself:
TUSCALOOSA -- It hasn't been announced officially yet, Alabama coach Nick Saban said tonight on his radio show, but he announced it anyway:
Alabama will play Michigan in 2012 in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Senior Denard! A bunch of guys who haven't been cut from Alabama and are therefore badass! SATURDAY! SATURDAY! SATURDAY! IN THE JERRYDOME!
WHY DON'T WE JUST PLAY A HOME AND HOME I DON'T KNOOOOOOOOW
(Arrogant bit.)
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:24 PM ^
Who thinks Gardner will be driving by then? I have a feeling Denard will be playing slot receiver for the Raiders around that time. Hopefully not...
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:40 PM ^
If he is, the rest of this year and next will be all kinds of Heisman/BCS champhionship awesome

I hate when people say that Denard will be a slot receiver in the NFL. People also said that he would play WR at Michigan. How is that working out?
Denard is a QB. And, right now, he is playing like the best QB in the country. If he plays in the NFL, it will be at QB.
September 24th, 2010 at 3:18 PM ^
So you think Denard will leave school a year early, even though the NFL won't want him to play his preferred position? I'm not following.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:26 PM ^
Get to see Denard in my home state

Damn that looks like an impressive team. One thing here, and perhaps it is a bit presumtuious, but, can we go ahead and put a SO Demetrius Hart in there too. Oh Yeah baby.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:29 PM ^
On offense, I think Fitz and Dee Hart will definitely be in the mix at running back. At quarterback, I would not be surprised to see Gardner starting with Denard filling a Percy Harvin type role on the team. I would also assume that Jeremy Gallon and TRob would be involved in the slot with Stokes and Jerald Robinson on the outside.
On defense, I would expect Carvin Johnson, Josh Furman and Marvin Robinson to all be heavily involved in the secondary. Also, Avery Walls could be a redshirt freshman or Sophomore backup/starter at deep safetly if we can grab him this year.
Other than that I like your 2012 lineup. I am excited.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:29 PM ^
You spelled Dee Hart wrong.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:16 AM ^

Now that's what I call a Two-Deep
September 24th, 2010 at 12:27 AM ^
oh wait, that might be kind of difficult. Figure he's going to sign 50 players next season, 55 for 2012 ...
September 24th, 2010 at 2:44 AM ^
Im not trying to be that guy and nit pick at your roster but Im wondering why you have Shawn Conway ahead of both J. Robinson and R. Miller, two player who who have a good chance of seeing some pt this year (maybe even against BG) and almost certainly next year. To me Conway seems more like a developmental player who will earn his money in his junior senior years after learning behind a TON of older recievers. But I like and agree with almost everything else. Still think Kovacs gets replaced tho in a year or two and becomes the teams new Moundros, captain and vocal leader but know his place on the team and future coach.
September 24th, 2010 at 10:01 AM ^
Where is Drew Dileo? Don't be shocked to see him make the two deep by 2012!!!
September 24th, 2010 at 1:05 AM ^
Your starting lineup for 2012 shows how young Michigan is! It is exciting to say the least!
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:36 PM ^
Will be good exposure for the program. At the same time, as others have noted, holy away schedule Batman.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
Hate to be 'the downer'
But this is just another example of the SEC not having the stones to come up north and play.
I guarantee it's their fault this is not a Home and Home.
That said, this will be an awesome game.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:46 PM ^
Jerry Jones set up the game for his stadium. He doesn't pay for home and homes.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:01 PM ^
that Alabama has a home and home scheduled with MSU in 2016 and 2017, I think they have the stones to come North.
Why aren't Michigan and Alabama playing a home and home? It's probably because neither side put much effort, if any effort, into making that happen. The only reason we have this game is because Jerry Jones opened his wallet and approached the two programs.
September 24th, 2010 at 11:10 AM ^
Plus they just played the first half of a home and home with Penn State.
September 24th, 2010 at 11:19 AM ^
I think its the second half. I dont think Alabama is coming north to play PSU next year, final completion of home and home from the 80's.

Thanks, I guess I heard wrong.
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:41 PM ^
Surely, we would make more money on a home game, and even a home and home, given the number of sears here versus there. I don't understand why we would do this. I love the idea of playing Bama or someone like that, but really.... in TEXAS? Doesn't anyone else find this odd?
September 23rd, 2010 at 10:46 PM ^
So who thinks Saban will actually still be at Alabama? He's arrogant enough to have another go at the NFL a la Pete Carroll.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:03 PM ^
Bring it on. That small stadium will feel nice and cozy.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:02 AM ^
Nice.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:03 PM ^
Maybe I'm just too much of an MGoBlog homer but I wish Rivals and other places wouldn't just refer to "rumors" when talking about the initial reports that this would happen- I know that they never want to refer to MGoBlog since it could drive people here and away from the pay sites, but they really should occasionally give some credit to Brian.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:11 PM ^
There is a 50/50 change that Alabama will be in the throes of an NCAA investigation at this point when someone in the NCAA recruiting committee realizes that 5-10 kids don't consistently "leave" a school every year so that higher-rated players can take their places.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:26 PM ^
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, are you trying to imply that Nick Saban would willfully do something against the spirit of the NCAA rules and common decency!?! That's just as preposterous as Lloyd Carr's favorite current coach (Les Miles) being a complete idiot.
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:34 PM ^
I just moved to Birmingham, AL and I am so sick of people here thinking football doesn't exist outside of this state. How dare anyone even consider that Alabama could lose a game this year? Herbstreit is being crucified for picking Auburn to win the SEC West. Anyway, I will do everything necessary to get tickets and make the 10 hour drive to Dallas. Also, my first ever Michigan game was a win over Saban in 1996 (45-29).
September 23rd, 2010 at 11:36 PM ^
I hope I've passed the bar exam by then and can afford the plane and game tickets.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:01 AM ^
Denard Does Dallas
September 24th, 2010 at 12:19 AM ^
Hats off to you sir simply for the spellings of "Rabit" and "Squril".
September 24th, 2010 at 3:07 AM ^
squril is getting expensive. I remember when squril was 50 cents.
September 24th, 2010 at 12:45 AM ^
I like easy schedules. I'd have us play Eastern 4 times a year if I could. However, Ohio State schedules Hugh Jass marquee OOC games and they've done ok lately
September 24th, 2010 at 2:16 AM ^
I guess it'll get lots of hype and attention, but this seems pretty meh. Both Alabama and ourselves have their own newly renovated stadiums that are substantially bigger.
September 24th, 2010 at 7:01 AM ^
We will be alright as long as Bama doesn't have this guy as running back and slot receiver.
He may not be a smart man, but boy he can sure run.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:10 AM ^
If he carries the ball like that-- let him play! Stupid is as stupid does. . .
September 24th, 2010 at 8:56 AM ^
It's time we play classy opponents. Like USC-OSU types. But BAMA-UM seems like primetime to me.
September 24th, 2010 at 9:37 AM ^
September 24th, 2010 at 9:40 AM ^
September 24th, 2010 at 10:08 AM ^
sell out the stadium for this game?
And, do you think it will help UM in recruiting Texass?
And, have you ever eaten fried possum guts?
September 24th, 2010 at 10:32 AM ^
I hate it that this is not a home & home series. They can talk all they want about the Bear v. Joe Pa - but Michigan going to Alabama would be the biggest game there in decades - plus for us it would give Nebraska in '11 and Alabama in '12 at home which would be awesome !!!
So in 2012 ... we go to ND, to Nebraska, to Bucknutville and have Alabama away (so what nutruel site). Do you think anyone else in the country would have an away schedule like that !! Brutal !!
Go Blue !
September 24th, 2010 at 10:44 AM ^
Dear Alabama,
BRING IT!!!
That is all,
Brn
September 24th, 2010 at 11:45 AM ^
cosign.
I can't wait for SEC speed to go up against dilithium speed.
September 24th, 2010 at 11:32 AM ^
I hate so say this my friends, but I am very pessimistic about dhart and i think he will end up going to Auburn...I hope im wrong
That being said I cannot wait for this game, i too wish it was a home and home series but oh well...Go Blue
