WMU QB

I remember when they said Tim Hiller was the greatest QB ever 2 years ago.  We saw how that turned out in the opener...

Time will tell

We won't truly know how Michigan's offense will look under Hoke/Borges from a long term perspective until Shane Morris is under center.  Until then, the coaching staff will use the strenghts of Robinson and Gardner to dictate the play calling.  This won't be a complete disaster like 2008 all over again.

Nothing but a marketing campaign to sell jerseys. Disgusting!

What is wrong with this uniform?

Darius to the NBA this year

I think Morris is a great college player for Michigan and I hope he is successful if leaves for the NBA this year.  However, it is clear (I'm not a NBA scout obviously) that his game has a lot of room for improvement and he probably could use another 2 seasons in college to get him ready. I just don't see how a PG that can't drive to his left or shoot with any consistency can compete on a nightly basis with other PG like Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, or Chris Paul.

At the same time, it is a historically weak draft and I can't blame him if the money is waiting for him.

Rich Rod

I think I just saw Brian walking around in a OU polo....

Bravo

You are a true humanitarian.....good for you!

vomit

I'm surprised Brian didn't use the old "trying to fit a square peg in a round hole" cliche....blaaaahhh

Great day! Tressel is out and Michigan will

Beat Duke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

big game

I hope all of the Michigan fans attending the game tomorrow bring their A game.  I know I am  attending a football esque tailgate tomorrow, let's make Crisler loud like it's 1993.

Rebounding

I love Novak and everything he brings each night, but he is asked to do way too much down low.  Novak has huge testicles, but Michigan got killed on the boards and it was making me crazy watching Wisconsin get offensive rebound after offensive rebound.  This team will not take the next step until they get a true physical power forward down low that does not have a physical disadvantage to do all of the dirty work needed to win.

Morgan is developing into a really nice player and I think he still has a huge upside.  However, he seems to make an extra unecessary move at times when he gets the ball in a good position to score.  He did that a couple of times tonight.

Even with a loss, Michigan is a fun team to watch and I think this has been Beilein's best coaching job at Michigan so far.

Bill Simmons

I'm a huge Bill Simmons fan and I listen to every BS Report podcast.  He is the only thing that is good on ESPN and I can't wait to see his website.  Good News!

The lineup of pictures is

The lineup of pictures is hillarious!

His TD run against the Irish

His TD run against the Irish in '09 was an awesome moment.

Qb depth

I support the decision that he wants to transfer, but I found the press release to be very strange. Let's hope denard and devin will stay healthy, the QB position will be 1 injury away from a walk-on if either player gets hurt.

Bill Martin

You really miss Bill Martin...wow! Rich Rod is not the Michigan coach and he should have been fired the day after the OSU game, I just don't understand how people can still defend a Coach that won 6 big ten games in 3 seasons at Michigan? That wouldn't be acceptable at Purdue!

I think it is time for all of the Rodriguez apologists to realize that Day 1 of the restoration of Michigan football began today and the program is finally in good hands once again. Today is a great day! Go Blue!

2nd choice

If Harbaugh falls through, I think the focus should shift to Lloyd Brady as the next head coach!

It was an accident

I have no idea how that happened, it must be a omen from the recruiting gods.

The fat lady is not scheduled to sing until Feb. 3rd

If the next coach is in place by the end of the week, he will have a month to save this class. Anyting can happen,I wouldn't count Michigan out just yet!

You are missing the point

I was simply trying to point out that there are still a small minority of Michigan fans out there that still want to see Coach Rodriguez lead the team out of the tunnel in 2011.  I believe that small minority of fans are failing to look at the big picture and are in denial.  We all know fan is short for fanatic.  Therefore,  I think every fan in any sport for any team has an element of blind faith when it comes to who they root for.  Following the Wisconsin game, I finally reached my breaking point as a Michigan fan and was able to look at the current state of Michigan football objectively.  Those fans that have not reached their breaking point with this regime are looking at the situation with their beer goggles on.  That is all I was trying to point out and I just can't figure out how that is insane or unreasonable?

You must be confused...

"Butt F..ing magic" is the act that you do with your buddies when you guys are sitting around listening to Josh Groban and has nothing to with anything I wrote.   You are mad, calm down sir!  The sun is gonna come up in the morning.

I don't think the words

I don't think the words "Blind Faith" and "magic" are dramatic at all relative to the opinion that Michigan was going to suddenly play well in the bowl game after the dismal performances against Wisconsin and OSU.  I don't care how much time there was between games.  Besides Mike Martin, the 2010 defense lacked blue chip future NFL talent across the board.  To improve the defense, Michigan is gonna have to recruit high level talent once again on that side of the ball to establish quality depth.  That must be the number 1 priortiy of the next head coach.  Therefore, the words "blind faith" and "magic" were accurate descriptions of fans that believed they were gonna play better due to the awarded extra practices.

your welcome

First of all, I don't think that there is anything wrong with venting my frustrations on the current state of Michigan football and stating the obvious (horrible defense).  Secondly, I do think Bill Martin was a great AD from the business end. However, he screwed up the football coaching search three years ago and may have hired 2 below average men's basketball coaches (the jury is still out on Beilein).  Ultimately, his legacy as AD will be devided into two categories:

1.  Hiring Rodriguez, Amaker, and Beilein.

2.  Rennovating Michigan Stadium and pulling the Athletic department out of the red.

Finally, accusing me of stereotyping the Michiagn offense is a little dramatic. I think it is healthy for people to have a variety of opinons and not to be so sensative.

Blind Faith

Through blind faith, a lot of my fellow Michigan fans believed that this team was going to magically get better over the last 5 weeks. Well, this team somehow got worse! I hope all of the remaining Rich Rod supporters finally had their rude awakening yesterday and will use common sense to realize that this brand of football will never work at Michigan.  Horrible defense, horrible special teams, and a cute offense that turns the ball over and is only good between the 20's will never be a recipe to win football games.  The program hit rock bottom yesterday and I hope the right man will be hired to take Michigan Football back to the mountain top.  I firmly believe that Dave Brandon will get his man and will not be on a sailboat in the Florida keys during the most important week of his career like the previous AD!

The Stagg-Paterno Championship trophy??

Paterno's longevity and record  is amazing, but most of his success happened before Penn State entered the Big 10.  He has only won 3 big ten championships and 2 of them were shared.  The historical indenity of the Big 10 has nothing to do with Penn State or Paterno.  It makes no sense at all!

Stagg is a legend, but he only won 7 big ten championships for a school that left the Big 10 in 1946.    Yost won 10 during the same era!  His name belongs on there before Stagg!

I understand that the coach of the year trophy is called the "Shembechler-Hayes" trophy, but that should be the name of the championship trophy! They made the Big 10 special in the modern era, not Stagg or Paterno.   Bo and Woody combined for 26 Big 10 Championships (13 each).  All they did was win Big 10 championships, shouldn't that be reflected on the Big 10 championship trophy or whould that make too much sense for Jimbo?

Keep dreaming

It will be hard to make chicken salad out of chicken__ in just 3 weeks. Especially if chef Robinson doesn't even belong in the kitchen at the local Mcdonalds. I hope you are right, but it won't be that simple.

Sorry to offend you.

I'm glad you took the time to find something I wrote months ago. You must really take yourself seriously. It seems that you made it a point to attack me because I think Michigan will struggle in the bowl game. However, you have not made a valid comment from an x's and o's standpoint on why Michigan will be competitive in the bowl game. Football games are not won through blind faith. Michigan has been awful under Rich Rodriguez for 3 seasons against quality opponents, it is not going to suddenly change in the next 3 weeks.

I'm not proud of that post.

I was drunk and emotional that day after a tough loss. Since then, I've learned from the inspirational lyrics of Josh Groban to make myslef a better person.

Defense

Coach Rod is gonna do whatever it takes to pull this game out, but I'm afraid it's not gonna be enough.  The defense and special teams will not magically get better by Jan 1st.  Michigan will move the ball between the 20's like they do against every team and rack up meaningless stats, but they will fail to score points consistently when they enter the redzone.  It is a big play or bust offense when you struggle to convert 3rd & long and when the kicking game is worse than quality high school teams.  Any football fan with common sense knows that the 2010 Michigan Wolverines play a brand of football that beats itself in all three phases of the game.  Therefore, they can't beat quality opponents.  Denard is a warrior, but he will not be able to do it alone.

Mississippi State 45-28

Examples for Michigan fan that lives in IA.

Coaches that have turned national programs around in less than 3 years:

1.  Nick Saban. Alabama:  2009 BCS National Champions (3rd season)

2.  Urban Meyer.  Florida:  2006 BCS National Champions (2nd Season)

3.  Jim Tressel.  Ohio State:  2002 BCS National Champions (2nd season)

4. Bob Stoops.  Oklahoma:  2000 BCS National Champions (2nd season)

Those are just a few examples of coaches that have turned national programs around in 3 seasons or less.  Obviously, these coaches are not coming to Michigan next season, but it proves that 3 seasons can be pleanty of time to at least show that a big time program is heading in the right direction.  Michigan's performance against quality competition this season shows no signs of improvement at all.  I agree,  hiring a new coach does not gurantee anything, but Michigan cannot sit back and hope that Coach Rodriguez is gonna turn it around.  The defense is young, but there is also a lack of blue chip talent. Mike Martin is only player on the defense that is a lock to have a future in the NFL.  I don't know how we are watching the same team every saturday?  Maybe all of that corn is clouding your judgement.

Why does he deserve anything?

Since you are so enthusiastic about keeping Coach Rodriguez, I'm sure you can show evidence supporting your argument that the rest of the world is missing.  Can you please enlighten us on why he should stay? Is it the pathetic special teams, the swiss cheese defense, or the statistically fraudulent offense?  I am dying to know!

Program in Limbo

I fully understand why Brandon is waiting until Jan. 1st to fire Coach Rodriguez. He will be saving a lot of money for the University and he is handling the coaching search with patience.  However, he is driving a sword in the heart (no pun intended) of the 2011 recruiting class. Ultimately, I believe Brandon is doing the right thing for the big picture of Michigan football, but it comes at a price.

The Big Game has been taken away from us!

It hurts that Michigan has not beaten OSU since 2003!  It hurts that Tressel is 8-1! It hurts that Michigan has the worst defense I have ever seen in any sport relative to the competion!  However, nothing hurts more than the fact that this week feels like an oridanry week.  There is no hype, excitement, or possibility of a Michigan win.  The big question going into the game is whether Coach Rodriguez will surive and not whether Michgan will win or lose?  There is no discussion of X's & O's, no discussion of the great games, and no discussion of  the great stars in the past.  It is all negative!  There will be no nerves, tension, or anxiety at noon on Saturday (as fans).  There will be no exctiement, joy, or passion throughout the game (as fans).  It is going to suck in every way possible.

I feel like this rivalry has been taken away from us all the last three seasons. I wanna feel pain when Michgian gets their ass kicked on Saturday, but I will just be numb. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think it would be like this as a Michigan fan.  Never did I think that an 8-4 season could feel like paradise.  Most of all, it sucks for the Michigan seniors!  They never signed up for this crap!  They have worked their asses off the last 4 or 5 years and they deserve to feel good.  They came to Michigan to win!.  I hope they can pull this off somehow on Saturday, but it will take a miracle.  Give us our rivalry back!!!  These pricks in Ohio have it way too easy!  Fuck em all!

This is horrible

I hate Fox Sports with a passion!  Their NFL coverage sucks, their National baseball coverage sucks, and their college football coverage is the worst.  Watching those BCS games on Fox was awful!  ESPN/ABC should carry the Big Ten Title game

(No subject)

Michigan Football

I have been a supporter of this regime since Day 1.  However, 4-16 in the Big Ten is impossible to imagine and even harder to take. My personal emotions during the last 24 hours started as rage, moved to depression, and have finally have reached accepetance.

The acceptance phase of my emotional rollercoaster is something I have fought against since December of 2007. Before the disaster last night,  I fully believed in our Head Coach and his philosophy.  I fully believed that Michigan would find a way to play solid defensively.  I fully believed that this offensive phsilosphy was the way to win big time college football games on the national stage.   However, everything I believed in the last 34 months has been wrong and there are no more excuses.  This philosophy of football at Michigan has not worked, the defense is light years away from being average, and the offense is cute, but not cute enough to win against real teams. Don't even get me started on the pathetic special teams.

I sincerely hope that I am wrong, but there isn't gonna be enough time time to proove that Coach Rodriguez is right.  This era of Michigan football is on lifesupport and it's gonna take four defensive miracles to save it.  It is just about time for all of us to say goodnight...

michigan football is dead

fire this piece of shit

ESPNU

It looks like the game is on ESPNU, which really sucks.  I have not been able to find it in HD on comcast. Does anyone know if ESPNU is carried in HD on comcast?  The Big Ten network his horrible and cuts out plays with low budget commercials, but at least it is in HD.

Lloyd Brady

Lloyd Brady is a god in my book!

Michigan/Indiana

I have a feeling that Michigan is gonna destroy Indiana..Book It!

So young

Your starting lineup for 2012 shows how young Michigan is!  It is exciting to say the least!

jeff genyk

Jeff Genyk is a solid coach and a great guy.  He got a raw deal at EMU,  they haven't won a game since he has left.

English talks a big game.

Umass

Umass had the perfect offensive strategy for their ability throughout the ballgame. 1st down:  run...gain of 3.  2nd down:  run...gain of 3.  3rd and manageable:  play action, roll the QB out (avoid Michigan's pressure), and convert over and over.

I give the coaching staff of Umass even more credit in the 4th quarter.    The minutemen trailed by multiple possesions.  However, they never went away from their gameplan. They continued to pound the ball and convert on 3rd and manageable to slowly creep back in the game.  Conventional wisdom would have said to take shots down the field and to speed up the game.  Nevertheless, Umass continued to be a thorn in the Michigan defense.

Before the UCONN game, I just wanted wins and I didn't care how they came.  After the game today, I was pissed!  However, Michigan is 3-0 and I would have given my left testicle for that at the beginning of the season!

I will go to sleep tonight knowing that Michigan will be in a New Years Day bowl!  Go Blue!

Angry Michigan Secondary-Hating God

I hear the Angry Michigan Secondary-Hating God wears a sweatervest.

NFL??

Have you ever watched NFL quarterbacks??  Tate has the ability to possibly be a solid college quarterback, but he does not have the physical skills to be a NFL prospect (that is not a insult on Tate).  Wake up!

LESSON OF THE DAY:

When the "experts" say the game will be a "shootout" and Vegas sets the over/under at 50 or above, bet the under. Great win for Michigan and fuck Notre Dame!

Vinnie Smith

I think Smith will emerge from the pack.  He may not have the most natural talent, but neither did Jamie Morris or Mike Hart.  However, Smith seems to have those undefinable intangibles that will prevent him from being denied.

2 weeks of Michigan vs. Ohio State in a row...

Mike Singletary sums up that possibility in this clip

I like that kinda party too!
