Teams with UMASS' Offensive Style

They will run Clay all day long and the pass will be there.

I was thinking the same thing while watching the Wisconsin game, but our offense is also going to give their defense fits. They didn't deal well at all with Arizona State's speed.

I assumed the Buckeyes were a pass first offense. Their running game doesn't seem to be power back based like MSU, Wisky and Iowa.

To be completely honest, I am not all that worried about any opponents in particular, excpet maybe Ohio State and Michigan State. As bad as today's defense seems, what today's defense did not do was give up any big yardage plays. I think that the most dangerous team to our defense are the ones that have legitimate home run hitters at the skill positions; particularly at running back. After reflecting on today's game for a couple hours now, I don't think that there is really anything all that different about the defense today in a negative way. They played a bend, but don't break style all day long against a team that was very disciplined and fundamentally sound offensively. I'm confident that the UFR will bear that out.

I agree somewhat. UMass played very discipline ball, though it is scary how much push they got against the D-line. I will say that there were a handful of players where UM had the UMass RB stopped and he just made a play to get a positive gain. That falls on the defense to an extent, but credit to UMass for having some good players.

Our defense gave up 37 points to UMass. If, after that, the only remaining opponents that give you concern are maybe OSU and MSU, I want what you're having.

UMass was 69 in the comp poles before today, that is ahead of UConn and at least 5 Big Ten teams. Not saying I wouldnt have liked a blow out, but they werent delaware st.

I think what we saw today was a sneak preview of the Wisconsin game. Big 300 + lb lineman paving the way for 200 + yards rushing.

how much did UM blitz and play agressive today? To me they seemed very passive on D

We aren't showing anything complex on D until we play State unless we totally have to.

Cause I think the very close call of losing to a D3 team might have led GERG to use all of his plays

They are a division 1 team. They are better than a significant number of FBS schools.

MSU might like to pound the ball, but they need to throw to win. Wiscy and OSU are just scary irrespective of their styles, though Wiscy's reliance on Rock, Rock, Rock, Punt might leave them unable to keep up with UM's offense. This is still an 8-4 team, and that is okay to me. I think the defense will be better next year, and 2012 this team will be scary.

Hi guys!
3-0. Say it to yourself. "Three and Oh." Sounds nice, right?
Our team was the opposite of jacked up to play this game, and GERG didn't throw anything crazy at UMass. We won. Frankly I think UMass is a team that executed at a very high level.
Am I worried about our defense? Sure, when I think about it. But I came into the season figuring I'd be worried about them. Whatever.
In terms of the question in this thread: MSU, but I think we'll be so freaking amped for MSU that we'll win anyway. Wisconsin because John Clay is a horse and their offensive line is enormous. Maybe Iowa though I haven't seen them really this year.

I think the game film will lead alot of teams to run alot of play-action bootlegs. Wisconsin and MSU already do this, but any smart OC will see this film and start going after our soft zone. I think they completed every bootleg they ran and it was rarely even contested.

If the defense doesn't get better we are going to have a very hard time with MSU, Iowa, Wiscy, and OSU. I won't say that we can't win any of those games because our offense is epic but we're going to have a hell of a time none the less.
