The 2010 Michigan football roster has been updated with freshmen numbers and weights.

Of note, Kenny Demens and his big ass pipes weigh in at 250 pounds.

M-Rob is sporting No. 3.

Cullen Christian No. 24.

JT Turner is now 6-2, but his weight is under 200 pounds.

Big Will is up to 333 pounds. Might need  to lose some weight.

Richard Ash is a big boy at 320 pounds.

Ken Wilkins, No. 41, is up to 262 pounds.

Carvin Johnson lucky No. 13.

Don't we have over a ten offers out right now for DB's?  Not to mention the two that are already on board?  And I know we have a real good shot with at least one of the recruits (Kitchen) and a fairly good chance at a couple more (Crawford, Walls).  maybe they are planning on going to a 3-2-7 in the future as a base scheme.  I'm only half joking when I say that.  Where else are all of these DB's gonna go?

at Kroger yesterday and he looked damn good. he's big no lie, but that dude is tall as hell and looked pretty jacked. lookout for him to cause ruckus in backfields this year

You are probably right.  Should he work like he's asked to, as with any player that comes here (and any D-I school...that fat fella from Alabama's dline last year being the exception), should find themselves in decent to great shape after a year in a college training program.  Barwis is a modern day Rodin and will, I think, mold him into an absolute beast.

Deserves all sorts of credit for busting his ass off the field to get his body in the best shape possible to be a force on the D-line.  You've got to appreciate that hard work.

Unfortunately, that's only one part of the equation: his technique on the field needs to improve as well.  I have to say though, given his work ethic, he deserves every benefit of the doubt that he's working on improving his on-field game as well.  Fingers crossed...he's our most important defensive player, IMO.

Not exactly, I would imagine he would be doing full body workouts(as soon as he was cleared to) including rehab on the knee and a lot of core training. A lot of upper body workouts use the legs for stablity and for a power base. Even bench press uses legs, so to say he was just working upper body is most likely not true.

Nice, 12 guys from Florida(including Ricardo).  I remember the announcers saying that there was only one guy from Florida on Michigan(Matthews) in the Cap one Bowl.  What a difference a couple of years make.

im looking at Austin White when michigan was recruiting him he he was listed from 186-190. He's now up to 200 lbs thats good. im not sure how much of an impact hes gonna make this year. im thinking hes getting a redshirt but hes putting weight hopefully its the good kinda from working with Barwis.

Yeah, Big Talbott's gonna redshirt.  But does Talbott coming in at 248 scream redshirt any louder than Ash coming in at 320?  Both of those guys need work with Barwis, albeit for vastly different reasons.  I'd like to see Talbott play DT at about 285 or so, while keeping his quickness, and Ash play the NT at somewhere over 300 lbs (maybe closer to 315), but leaner than he is now.

Luckily, we have Martin, Campbell, Banks, Sagesse and maybe Patterson and/or LaLota who can play those tackle spots while these two get their bodies in shape.

Ash is now 320?  Holy weight gain, Batman!  I hope that's the 'good' kind of weight.  And I know that Big Will being overweight is a concern, however, the kid is 6'5" and slated to be the nose in a 3-man front.  He needs to be an immovable planet, doesn't he?  I don't understand the concern.  I mean, is 333 lb considered to be drastically overweight for that height and that position?  With proper technique, he should have zero issues dominating a 275 lb center.  In fact, he will likely demand double teams.

at least wrt Denard unless he's grown an inch and added 15 pounds since June. I passed DR and Martavious on State St earlier this summer, and I was no more than 6 feet away from both of them. I would have guessed at the time DR was no more than 5-11 and 180. He's pretty slender.

Interesting that Furman is listed as a Safety. I'm guessing he will be one of the Strong Safeties instead of a LB, since it seems they want some real big thumpers at LB.

to get BIG. Isaiah Bell @ 245! Demens @ 250! I hope that Barwis has kept their speed, because if they can really move and be at that weight... They can do some damage.

As we are getting some size and talent (oline, dline, lb...) I hope that translates to better play & wins.

Even if Will added about 15 pounds of "not good" weight from last year, it wouldnt' make him fatter or more out of shape looking than some other successful DTs I have seen in the college and the pros.  Like that tub of goo from Alabama last year.

I agree, if he's basically a 300+ pounder with some extra baggage in the gut, he can still cause a lot of problems on the inside of the line.  That's a whole lotta human being to push around for opposing O linemen.

Teams are going to bank on being able to run up the gut with our 3-man front, but if he's in the middle there, they'll have a hard time with it.  Especially considering Mike Martin and RVB won't be pushed around too easily either.  And if that works, you have to deal with our trio of 250lb linebackers.

Man, I'm excited!

Yeah, no kidding.  I'm really exicted about the amount of size (and strength) in the starting front six for this year.  If it was just size I wouldn't be nearly as excited about it, but knowing that these guys have gotten to this point through Barwis' program, it's really hard not be excited about the potential damage they can do.

Death Roh is up to 251 (up from the 230-ish of last year)

Kevin Koger now weighs 255.  I'm not sure, but that seems a lot bigger than I remember.

Michael Shaw is on the roster.  Should we draw any conclusions about that?

Another player that caught my eye that I don't think has been mentioned yet is Kenny Wilkins.  He was a guy many thought would be too small to play DE and would play the Roh OLB spot instead.  That's no longer the case, since he's listed at 6'3" 262lbs.  That's at least a solid DE, especially considering he's likely to RS with guys like RVB, LaLota and Adam Patterson in front of him.

Depending on how much weight he puts on, he'll either be a DE or a 3-tech DT, sort of like RVB.
