Holy Jeebus! Big Chill now at 91000+ tickets sold

I thought the tickets sold would eventually get around 100,000, but not this quickly....this is amazing. I cannot wait

Damn, maybe I should actually think about buying a ticket soon. I was hoping to be able to get one closer to the game.

i logged on 2 hrs after the sale started and was greeted with corner 30th row. no thanks. michigan is a small enough community that friends of friends who bought 10 bc it was only $100 will be looking for replacement friends.

an 18-hour A-Team marathon with 100k+ people in the Big House? Think of all the people who would be pityin' the fool!

This record is going to be put out of reach and will not be broken for a long, long, long, time simply due to the fact that I do not know of any other stadiums that have the capacity to hold such an event. Once again showing why we are simply the leaders and best.
A soccer field in India and a soccer field/popular front stadium in North Korea.
Needless to say, we are holding this record until we have another hockey game at Michigan Stadium.
The official capacity of Estadio do Maracana is 82,238, and they supposedly crammed 200,000 in there for the 1950 World Cup final.
I don't think that kinda stuff happens anymore though.
I was in Rio a couple years ago when Mango played the Venezualan national team in an olympic warmup. They were able to jam in >100,000 that night.

One BIG ASS ice making system!
LoL
There are three parts to the equation:
1) Having the stadium capacity (list of potentials in the thread)
2) Having two teams play in a location where both fans bases are within reasonable driving distance
3) Having two rivals to drive interest and demand
While the Wisconsin event was cool to watch, this one is a home run (or I guess hat trick) for Michigan.

It will be us.

I am in row 56 in the end zone. I am bringing binoculars.

I'm not surprised. I figured our fans would step up to the challenge. I am surprised that others are surprised.
This may sound sadistic but I'm hope it's really cold out that day. Like freezing cold. I hope that despite frigid weather, we would still have a sellout capacity crowd with 110K+ fans showing up to scream their lungs out. I think that's the only way the game could possibly be a more memorable experience than what is already promised.
I don't think being uncomfortably cold would make a hockey game AT MICHIGAN STADIUM -- one that shatters the all-time hockey attendance record -- any more memorable. It'd just make it a little less enjoyable for both the fans and players.
I guess it's just da crazy yooper blood in me, eh?

What did you do last night?
We didn't do nothin'. We was here ALLLL night.
So that's what you call 'cool', is it? So if somebody asks you after that game, "what'd you do that night", what are you gonna say? "We didn't do nothin'", or, "We went out to Ann Arbor and helped a maniac tear down a fortress" What are your odds?
Fair.
What are the odds of you gettin' out of here with that jacket on?
Better than average.
@WIsco was pretty damn cold this year. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.
I went to the original Cold War game in East Lansing, and it was very cold and windy. I definitely want it to be slightly warmer for The Big Chill.
Instead of beer, drink Hot Buttered Rum, Irish Coffee and Hot Toddies.
Good to know the Big House will be rocking. My dad ordered 4 tickets a few weeks ago. I'll be ganking one of those for sure.

ha, good one. Haven't heard that since middle school, but I like it.
...who saw the game at Camp Randall and said it sucked because it was so far away you couldn't really see much. Hockey is a game that needs to be witnessed close up. As much as it's cool that there will be a huge crowd, I would think the reality of so many being too far from the action will end up being remembered as a bad experience as it was for the Wisky fan and his frat bros that went. Of course, they were drunk so it wasn't as painful!
I second that student's opinion of the Camp Randall game. I was at the game in ~row 20 at the 1 yard line. I could barely follow from the puck from my vantage point. I was also drunk and freezing my ass off. I did get a good view of the phantom slash summers was called for in the third period...
With that said the sighlines in Michigan Stadium are better than camp Randall unless you are in row 50 or above. Then you better bring a pair of binoculars.

I was at the game at Camp Randall. I was wearing many layers and was still pretty cold but lots of the Wisconsin fans were just wearing jeans and sweatshirt. wtf
April 30th, 2010 at 10:29 AM ^
My issue with the game at Camp Randall, aside from the frigid cold, was less that I couldn't see, but more than I couldn't hear any sounds of the game. Not the puck on the boards or sticks, not the hits, and not the crowd.
It was like watching on mute on the TV.
ill be there. ill be wearing one of the dos M hockey jerseys i purchased from the mgoblueshop. the game is a day before my birthday. i will be drunk.
Michigan hockey better smoke the spartans.

suddenly, i'm really excited that i have tickets. i just realized that UM hockey chants will be done at this game. how did that not occur to me before just now? this will finally answer the question: what does it sound like when 100,000 people say "douchebag" in unison?
