David Harris to sign with Patriots
Former Jets LB David Harris has reached agreement on a two-year deal with...the New England Patriots, source tells ESPN.

I guess he's not going to retire after-all.

I knew this was gonna happen. This is such a Belichick move. Love it. Go Pats!
I was hoping for this. I am super stoked for the season, now!
As he surveyed the deployment of the Prussian army before the battle of Ligny.
Thus ends the reading from the book of Dweebs, Chapter 18, verse 15.
Tom Brady, Alan Branch, and David Harris. Am I missing anyone?
saw him walking around cambridge once. He was rocking a michigan jumpsuit otherwise no way I would have recognized him.
Nobody else...
Shawn Crable was on the practice squad for a hot second IIRC
Pierre Woods, Prescott Burgess, Matt Gutierrez (does he count?), and some other dudes who predate me
Until the Brady/Belichich Era is over, the Jets have no chance to win anything. Better to tank like mad until a fanchise-caliber QB pops up at the top of the draft.
From the outhouse to the penthouse.
Nope. He's gonna play until he's 60.
This is just how Belichick operates. He's better than everyone else. Brady is the best QB in the game and he's not walking away while he's still the best.
lol, Jets.
Both sides.
The missing piece! Only position that lacked depth was LB and David Harris is perfect. May have lost a step but still highly productive. Way the Pats operate, look at a player like Harris, still has something left in the tank, but they won't expect him to be a 3 down player. Seriously, they should trademark this move as a "Belichick!" Bring in a vet, smart, knows how to play, leader, highly respected, will use properly and give him a chance to get the ring. Guarantee that he makes 3-4 huge plays that contribute to Pats victories this season. Was hoping for this from the second I heard the morons in Long Island released him.
How cold does it get in Minnesota in February?
Pats are going undefeated.
Being a Pats fan is what its like for GS and Cleveland. Lets just get to the playoffs and watch a championship run.
Cleveland does not even remotely belong in the same conversation as New England. An argument could be made against Golden State as well, simply due to the fact that Golden State hasn't been dominant for anywhere near as long as the Pats.
But I have a feeling Golden State will make me eat those words within a few years.
The names "Cleveland" and "Lebron James" are interchangable until Lebron James leaves Cleveland.
I think Cavs fans can say that as long as they have Lebron.
Gonna get his ring.
The Jets did him a favor.
like to sign a lot of free agents from teams within their division? Pretty smart move in many ways.
Especially considering how many years he was with the Jets....that kind of institutional knowledge is worth quite a bit to competent coaches.
Picked up pretty quick. Not a bad place to land!
GO BLUE!
David Harris is released from the Jets, signs with the Patriots?
Well I'd want to get the hell away from the Jets too.
Go get your ring, Harris. When you're with the Pats there's a pretty damn good chance you're going to get at least one.
How do they have the money to do this? It feels like they've aquired 15 quality players this offseason. Who the heck is going to beat them? If I were a betting man, I'd put some money on them going 16-0.
The Pats have historically managed their cap better than anyone else, but they've also benefitted from their success. A lot of veterans have come at a discount to chase a ring. On the other hand, Belichick is great at saying goodbye. The Pats traded Collins and Jones and won the Super Bowl. They manage their assets so well. They restructure deals.
It's great to be a fan of such a savvy organization.
Also add in the fact that Brady hasn't pushed for market value in quite some time. He is something like the 13th highest paid QB in the league, It's not a huge difference on a year to year basis, but when you have an extra 4-5 million dollars each year to work with, it adds up.
That gives them a big advantage. On the other hand, my Lions are about to make Matthew (never won shit) Stafford the highest paid player in the league.
Stafford isn't Aaron Rodgers, but he's a good QB with a lot of talent and has progressed reasonably well recently. Given both how the franchise has been QB-starved and the challenge other franchises have of finding someone that capable, it's a no-brainer to keep him until he retires.
The right roster and staff could make a deep playoff run. The Ravens and 49ers played in a Super Bowl that was the embodiment of this; we'll see if it ever happens in Detroit.
Brady is also basically the only non-expendable player there. The entire franchise has turned over except for him and Belichek. There are a couple of other players worth more than replacement money (Gronk, for example, but they just won the SB without him) but for the most part they build with good pieces around a great QB and a solid defensive system.
Very happy that there's another former Michigan player on my favorite NFL team.
3* ...no way he'll be any good. Definitely won't play in the NFL. Hopefully we get Jim Presley next year, we're going to need some LB depth.
go get a ring, dude.
Total BB move: 1) Vet; 2) High IQ; 3) Michigan pedigree; 4) Played for a team in the divsion; 5) Leadership.
LB was a slight depth concern. I can't think of a better way to save snaps from Highower, Nink.
