MBB: Hello: Taylor Currie
Hot.
Scouting
"Currie is known as a skilled big man who has shown the early ability to stretch the floor with his jump shot."
Mark Donnal?
He's an above average athlete--dunks all the time. So not Mark Donnal.
Zach Collins a good comparison?
Shorter version. Doesn't have much of a back-to-the-basket game right now though
Ricky Doyle
Has got to be best case scenario right?
That's not a bad comparison if true and would reflect positively on Beilein.
I did see the Donnal comment. I personally don't mind that comparison either because similar words were said about him in HS. I don't know what happened after the 2015 season. He had two great games @Illini and @MD to showed his potential. Everything else was kinda meh.
I think it's clear the lemmings in this thread don't realize that.
But if we aren't giving 22 year old Beifeldt and 22 year old Donnal scholarships why do we recruit 18 year old versions of them?
Multiple scouting reports say he plays with a good motor, which is entirely unlike Donnal and Bielfeldt to a lesser extent.
He looks nothing like Biefeldt. He sorta looks like Donnal though. Hopefully Currie keeps growing and is not afraid of the weight room like Donnal was.
Suck it, Reindeer Games.
The only person I have seen him compared to is Moritz Wagner
he looks like Wagner in tape to me too. Runs the same way.
On what basis are you saying he an 18 year old version of either Biefeldt or Donnal? Honest I'd like to hear your rationale. This kid is taller and more skilled than Biefeldt already. The coaching staff is quoted as comparing him favorably to Wagner.
Wow, we got a Currie brother!! He looks nothing like Steph or Seth, though.
Well, he is white.
He got an offer and committed on the spot??? Taylor Currie is swift!
him play a few times in person. He should be a nice complimentary player and can certainly stretch the defense. However, I can assure anybody that he is not going to be Mo Wagner. A lot of those quotes discuss his athleticism and length. I guess he was long, his athleticism did not stand out to me. He looks more like an Evan Smotrycz (only happy!)
I'll trust the coaches with this one. Beilein's early offers rarely go to guys who don't develop. Wait and see how he develops over the next year or two before I decide how excited to get about him. Appreciate your insight though.
Beilein offered Ricky Doyle and Mark Donnal early.
He did say rarely, not never.
not saying he is not going to be good, I think he will be a nice contributor. He did not look like a super high ceiling player to me. You're right, obviously the coaches know more than I do, but he wasn't a kid that dominated the high school game, at 6'9 and 220. He was like a trusty double-double guy.
I like the pick up, I just don't think it is a commit that moves the needle much by itself.
He's a skilled big man. Legit 6'9" with long arms. Skinny. He can step out and make jumpshot. He can rebound but will get overpowered by bigger players because of his frame/strength. Pretty easy to see why JB likes him a lot.
I've not seen his film, but I've heard he compares favorably with Marie Curie.
"He's a much longer, much more athletic version of Marie Curie. And with additional Nobel-Prize-Level expertise in Tokamak Fusion reactors." - FJ
He's been sporting these colors since birth & now he will wear them in college. Very honored & grateful that he will have this opportunity! pic.twitter.com/2OUNemT7lN

You can tell he's still growing looking at the three pictures with Beilein. Would be nice if he got close to 7 feet.
does the f stand for f*ckboy?
