But . . . but . . . he can only win by cheating. Now that he's been caught and made to stop, he'll never win any more games.
Wait . . . what?

Thank God somebody finally posted this thread! If I could've, I would've about 2pm when it was obvious TB12 was going to get his 201st. Considering Harbaugh was the first Michigan QB to start in the NFL (if I remember correctly), this is a massive milestone.
Here's a fun MMB/Brady story from his visit this season...
As it happens, my daughter is the only kid from all of New England in the MMB, and my wife, myself and both my parents are alums. I gave her my Brady 2000 Orange Bowl jersey when she headed to A2 as a freshman last year; she has been to multiple Patriot training camps with it as a kid trying to get it autographed, but never managed to get close enough to Brady. So, when she heard he was going to be an honorary captain this year, she was determined to finally make it happen.
For those that don't know, the band is discouraged from giving any attention or bothering the celebrities with whom they associate, but she took her jersey on Brady's weekend, hid it in her shako (band hat), which (IMO) is no small feat, considering the athleticism the band kids have to display during pre-game.
Like a professional stalker (I'm so proud), she watched TB12 during the first quarter, and when she saw him head for the tunnel, she took a premature head call (the bathroom the band kids use is in the tunnel), found Brady waiting for the elevator to go up to a luxury box and, well, mission accomplished! Here's the happy girl with her freshly autographed jersey postgame.

I'm fairly sure it is. I tried googling today to be sure, but couldn't verify it explicitly. Looking at the M QB list that I found, Leach would've been it, but he went to MLB instead. There's no other name before JH that sticks out, but several after, obviously. (Grbac, Henne, etc.)

Isn't there an old story of Bo doing a home visit with a big-time QB recruit when on MNF, the announcer stated that "a Michigan QB has never started a game in the NFL"? To which Bo replied, "well then, you are going to be the first!" I can't remember the player, might have been Jeff George.

Yeah, and I think it was "Has never thrown a TD in the NFL" . . . kinda like an Urban Meyer QB
December 5th, 2016 at 7:57 AM ^
Robert Timberlake, Harry Newman, Benny Friedman and probably a bunch of other Michigan QBs I've never heard of because they were before my time played in the NFL, AFL and other predecessors to the league. (Tom Harmon of course, but he was a RB)

While a good college QB, Leach was an option QB and a terrible passer and likely wouldn't have started in the NFL. Trust me, I was there for all of it.
December 5th, 2016 at 12:56 AM ^
...that it would've likely been Leach had he gone to the NFL versus MLB.

...but he would've had enough hype behind him to get a start or 2, IMO. Of course, I've already been proven wrong on Harbaugh, so I suppose the point is moot, unless you think we should seperate the Super Bowl / Post-Merger Era from the original NFL.

Harbaugh was the first in the modern era. Grbac was later.

For some reason, my photo of the jersey didn't post, and somehow I'm not allowed to edit that post, so, hopefully this will work.

You need to brush up on your Michigan history, along with most of the media and most UM fans.
Benny Friedman, All American 1925, 1926
"Friedman also played eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL) for the Cleveland Bulldogs (1927), Detroit Wolverines (1928), New York Giants (1929–1931), and Brooklyn Dodgers (1932–1934). He was the leading passer of his era in the NFL and is credited with revolutionizing the game with his passing prowess. He led the league in passing for four consecutive years from 1927 to 1930 and was selected as the first-team All-NFL quarterback in each of those years. He also served as the head coach of the Giants during a portion of the 1930 season and head coach of the Dodgers during the 1932 season."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Friedman
Harry Newman, All American 1932
"As a rookie with the New York Giants in 1933, Newman was an All-Pro and led the NFL in passes completed (53), passing yards (973), touchdown passes (11), and longest pass completion (78 yards).[1] Newman's 973 passing yards stood as the NFL single-season record until 1937 when Arnie Herber threw for 1,239 yards.[2] He also led the Giants, and was sixth in the NFL, with 437 yards rushing in 1933.[1][3] With 1,547 yards of total offense (973 passing, 437 rushing and 137 receiving), Newman personally accounted for more than half of the Giants' total offense in 1933.[3] He was named to the All-Pro team,[1] and led the Giants to the 1933 NFL championship game."

I yield to you, sir. Facts are facts, my google skillz are clearly inferior.
But, of course, in those years, college football was king, and the pros were considered a sub-standard circus-like sideshow. I'm not saying you're wrong, it was just a completely different world, football-wise.
I think we all can agree that our alma mater's ability to produce competent professonal QBs was not good until JH was drafted with the last pick of the first round by da Bearz. ;-)
Brady has taken it to a level unknown to mankind, and our program should ride his exceptional intelligence, willingness to compete, refusal to offer excuses for failure, work-ethic and talent for all it's worth. This guy is the absolute prototype of everything we stand for as Michigan Men, up to and including the persecution by petty, jealous, born-with-a-silver-spoon-in-their-mouth bureaucrats and plain old douches like the Manning family, the Maras, and the Rooneys.
Tom Brady has done nothing but earn his place in the Pantheon of Football Gods, and any that try to deny that are just haters, pure and simple.

in person as he appears on TV? More than happy and willing to give the autograph? Probably loved her creativity! :)
December 5th, 2016 at 12:24 PM ^
She said he was more than happy to stop and sign. He has a great reputation in New England for being very gracious with the fans.

He's a great ambassador for the NFL and Michigan. Glad she was able to do that!
December 5th, 2016 at 4:23 PM ^
I know your daughter! I was very impressed with her dedication to get Brady's autograph. The stalking is one thing, but fitting the jersey in her shako is a whole new level. I mean, she had to fit that in along with her ballcap and hair, then march pregame without it falling off! That's true dedication.

They will be my AFC team. I'm crazy but it would be great to have the Lions vs Patriots in the superbowl.
