But if we really wanted to . . . .

I would hope that any parent helping their child select a college -- athlete or not -- would help organize his/her search similar to this method. I don't think most teenagers are capable emotionally, or have the judgmental maturity, to make this decision on their own. How many kids have you known who went to the college where their best buddy or worse, girlfriend/boyfriend was attending? It's very easy to pick a school for the wrong reasons and not focus on the right reasons at all.

Ugh, I did that -- followed my boyfriend to college. He broke up with me three days before freshman year started, saying he wanted to date other people, and then introduced me to his freshman roommate at the freshman mixer as "someone I used to know in high school." Mind blown, heart broken. So I ended up transferring to Michigan. It all worked out for the best.

How much weight do you see my son packing on? Will it be more muscle than he currently has?
Thank god my mother didn't ask anyone this when I chose Michigan

PMO means blaze is implying Mama Solomon is a project manager by profession.
The bad spreadsheet means jblaze likely makes his coworkers lives miserable by being super prescriptive and/or dogmatic.

Glad you got the joke, I've been beat up by consulting as well, but my overwhelming laziness fights off the super-prescriptiveness around Spreadsheets when reviewing them(when it's something I am getting judged on, I am much more strict).

Spreadsheet's not 508 compliant.

After speaking to Momma Gwen, she should give Momma Gary's phone number to concur what she has been told and seen. That should seal the deal. Go Blue !

hopefully michigan doesn't put the OP in charge of spelling and punctuation.

I think Michigan can make a very good impression on most of those questions. The thing I like most is that the programs and values that 'check those boxes' have been established and noted for a couple years or more.
Michigan doesn't have to make anything up this week to look great. A nice apology for the snafu would help, but let Michigan shine and all will be fine.

Getting a good laugh imagining Hugh Freeze's reaction to that questionnaire. One glimpse and his mind would explode. Definitely too much time away from family to complete that.

You'll know, Yea, you'll have your fair share of fake folks along the way but pay attention to who's around (are the interns actually at conference? Or are they shunned and/or too busy to attend?) and how they act with each other and the program leadership. It sounds hokey, but a lot of the "feel" of the program comes from the leadership (duh) so try and get a sense of what current residents think about them. You're absolutely right, your experiences will definitely be shaped A LOT by the folks you're working with, even on a month to month basis. If you're "only" in the hospital 80hrs a week, you're lucky (or doing derm I suppose). Good luck! You should hand the program directors a copy of this spreadsheet at each interview day, it'll let them know you mean business.

I suspect Michigan will do quite well in filling this out.

Impressive list. Obviously cares about her son and processing through all the B.S. some programs will throw at her son.
This will hopfully show them the significant differences between a school like Michigan and others like Bama and Georgia.
Well done, Ms. Caldwell !!!

Anyone that says the top priority is academics and then sends their child to a school in the SEC that isn't Vanderbilt is a liar.
Anyone that says academics is the top priority and it comes down to Michigan and just about anyone else but Standford or Northwestern and then sends their child to Georgia, isn't being honest.
It will be refreshing if most of her questions are actually for the coaches and would show a decided lack of bullshit on her part. Because Georgia and Alabama are fucking nowhere academically.
I would love to see the questionaire, but the link goes to a page of complete gibberish.
That said, I wish everyone the very best on their search.
