Penn State better be prepping their gameplan for the double A-gap blitz.

Has some unique name to it. "Rivalry week," "Revenge week," etc...
Looking at the matchups, this week could be dubbed Garbage week, s***bowl week, ballsack week, etc...
Basically none of the top 25 matchups have any intrigue. Maybe Tenn vs V Tech?
September 8th, 2016 at 9:40 AM ^
Take a Nap Week, Go to a Picnic with the In-laws week, .....
there are no matchups that are very interesting for me this week. I will watch the Michigan game then proceed to a Family Reunion on my wife's side of the family. It will probably be far more entertaining then any of this weeks matchups.

And since it's on at the same time as our game, not even that.
September 8th, 2016 at 9:47 AM ^
The one thing you can be sure of this early in the season (when many teams are still overrated and underrated) is that there will be a few 4th quarter scares for a handful of ranked teams and hopefully even an upset or three.

This is an absurd argument. There are NFL games on other Thursday nights during the season. There are also NCAA games on every Thursday (except tonight).

Pitt over psu
Illinois over UNC
VT over Tenn
CU over Idaho State
Nevada over notre dame
September 8th, 2016 at 10:58 AM ^
Games that interest me are:
Michigan of course #1
PSU vs Pitt - I would enjoy watching Pitt take PSU apart although the B1G probably wouldn't benefit from that!
Oklahoma State vs CMU - CMU alumni so yeah....
Western vs Illinois - Heard about this team from Illinois wondering what they look like!
Washington vs Idaho - more curiosity about Washington a PAC12 up and comer
TCU vs Arkansas - Want to see #Bertfail
TN vs VT - #ButchKarma - Hoping for a VT win here!
Oregon vs Virginia - #BradyHoke curiosity

That game should be okay to watch, CMU alum myself. Rush is a darn good senior QB. He won't be intimidated by that place. They also ran a ton last week. Gut tells me they'll cover the 21 spread.

Western what vs. Illinois?
U of I plays UNC this weekend.
September 8th, 2016 at 10:57 AM ^
PSU vs Pitt. I wish this wasn't at noon since I'll be at the Big House.
TCU vs Arkansas (Wooo Pig Berty)
El Assico
I was going to put Oregon/Virginia in there, too but somehow I missed that UVA lost to Richmond (?!?) last week? Ouch.
September 8th, 2016 at 11:04 AM ^
Just doesn't compute with me. I don't understand why they can't put a good football team together. It's a massive university, in a pretty solid recruiting spot (not too far from any major area of high school talent.)
They are just... never... good. I don't get it.
September 8th, 2016 at 11:20 AM ^
We need WahooWolverine to jump in...I know there's a few UVA fans here on the board.
Editing to add that academics might have something to do with it?
September 8th, 2016 at 11:23 AM ^
weren't they ranked number one at some time in the early nineties? I remember the year georgia tech and colorado split Virginia was good...
long time ago.
September 8th, 2016 at 11:32 AM ^
Not sure about #1 but they had some good teams under George Welsh (Herman Moore was on some of those teams).
I do like the Bronco Mendenhall hire a lot, even if they got off to a rough start last week.
September 8th, 2016 at 12:42 PM ^
The 1995 team that M beat on the last play of the first game of the 1995 season had the Barber brothers (Tiki & Ronde) and was ranked in the top-25 all season. That was the first ACC team to defeat Florida State (FSU didn't lose a conference game for like 5 years after they joined).

I still think Bronco is a very good hire, though

Way better coach. Franklin will be gone after this season.
September 8th, 2016 at 11:09 AM ^
Loves them some James Franklin. They had a super quick turnaround after O'Brien. I think he's going to have some extra leeway.

I hope TCU scores 100 on Burt. Tennessee/Virginia Tech might be good. But the rest of the games are blah. I don't see myself tuning in unless there's an upset alert.

First off, VT v Tenn because it's looking like the best game of the weekend.
Iowa v Iowa St because rivalries.
CMU vs Okie St because I love to root for all Michigan based MAC teams.
Nevada v ND because to hell with ND and I hope they lose at home.
Arkansas v TCU because it could actually be a decent game.
Western v Illini because go Kalamazoo.

Because CFB is carnage, there will probably be a big upset or two that ruins somebody's season.
I would say hopefully it's Nevada beating ND... but THANKS TEXASSSSSS.

Won't even be able to watch the UCF game due to family commitments, but if there's a week of football to miss, seems like this is the one to miss.
Looking forward to seeing Oklahoma destroy OSU next week.

Is going to give Wisconsin a battle. Coming off a massive improvement from 2014 to 2015, beat Utah State in their bowl game, and a QB that put up some gaudy numbers in week 1.
After a huge win against LSU, I expect Wisconsin to come out sleepy and I still don't trust that offense whatsoever.
They'll cover 24 with ease. It's going to be close.
