Can anyone shed any light on how different the skill sets are between the O and the D line? Is it fairly easy to flip back and forth for some or is it a completely different set of techniques?

I get the reciprocation between D back and WR but it seems playing on both lines requires a tremendous amount of skill, playbook knowledge etc... Good for him!

IMO...
The most alike aspect is hand speed and placement. If you don't have quick hands you've got nothing. I think the biggest difference is instinctual. OL you know where he balls going and where you want to move the defender. DL you have to read the pressure EXTREMELY quick on the interior line and react appropriately. DE's read their man but have more time to react then a D Tackle.

Is anyone else hoping we put this guy on the defensive line? Obvuously from what we've heard he will make an impact on either side, but man. Having someone like that on an already stacked defense will give us so much flexibility and should keep everyone fresh as the season goes on.

But imagine, just for a moment, a Dline with Mone, Owenru and Gary plus Hudson and a few other underclassmen yet to make their mark Think you can dig that front? I think so. Who's got it better than us?

Many of you must not have seen the clip from practice where Big Mike blasts through the line and plants the RB on the ground. Exhibit B is Harbaugh just gushing about him. Dude has a mancrush in the best way possible. These kids have a nutritionist working with them. He'll do fine. He's just a goddamned giant. Who's got it better than us?!?

There is nothing at 375 that he can't do better at 350 or better yet 335. I understand he is special but if he wants to play pro ball or stay healthy 375 just is not going to work. It can not work. He could be a great football player at 375, he would still be better at a lower weight.

Bryan Mone says he's 385. Glasgow says 375.  They discuss how much larger he is than anyone else on the team. They also talk about how good he has been in camp so far. I won't speculate on what his ideal weight is but he's obviously been great so far. Mone does remark that while Onwenu moves really well at his current weight, he might be "scary" if he lost just 25 pounds or so.

I remember the FSU national championship team a couple years ago, had a highly rated DT that became so winded in the 4th quarter that he had trouble staying on the field for several plays in a row.

at least half the team would qualify as obese, which is a BMI of 30 or more.

Onwenu is listed at 6-3. If he weighed 240, his BMI would still be 30.

Tyrone Wheatley Jr.'s BMI is 31.9, which makes him "obese" as well.

Seems like there is way too much leaking out of the sub this year. Harbaugh needs to batten down the hatches. All this stuff is giving me PTSD flashbacks to all the empty hype of the Hoke and RR years.

JH said he was one of his favorite players.

I'm sure the M staff has it covered what his optimal weight should be...
