Love the charts, graphs and analysis! During the year these posts were one of the only things that made me smile after some of the garbage we were dragged through. Being a fan means also dealing with the negative side, but this year was really challenging. We even had three wins that felt like losses and I can't remember a season quite like this one was. Let's hope we're crawling out of the basement finally.

All the RB's on the roster. How they are improving and how they rank in the coaches eyes

also in the camp of thought that seeing Shane get some meaningful reps sounds like a good idea. This game really doesn't mean much, and getting some good PT right now is a good thing for the future of our program. Having two QB's that are good is not a problem in my eyes. I would love to have a QB controversy next year and maybe even play them both a bit. I really don't think that "if you have 2, you have none" addage still applies to today's college football. There are plenty of programs that role with 2 successfully. Teams like that are already prepared for injury, and you don't expect a downward spiral of a season if that happens.

Trolls beware - your life just got tougher! The streets around here will clean up quickly, and the overall quality of posting will increase as well. Go Mgoblog!! Brian is the man

I can see why people get confused. I am also in the camp that wants Shane to win the job. Devin is a double edged sword who was really lucky not to have thrown 8-10 INT's in the last 5 games. The Northwestern game was especially lucky as there were about 6 passes directly into the arms of a defender. I think Devin predeterimines where he's going with the ball and throws regardless of coverage/defenders in the area. Just my opinoin, but I would like to see him slide out to WR again, and that would be best for his NFL career also.

Saban stays at Alabama for 5-7 more years and wins 2 more championships. He then retires and goes into broadcasting, for which I think he has a natural talent. If Mack is out, I think getting a coach like Briles who is really successful in the same area recruting and winning games is smart. If they go with Gruden he will have a tough time meeting all the highschool coaches and learning the area. Of course, Texas pretty much gets first pick of an amazing group of kids coming out of that state every year...

sickest play of the year, by far, was the INT by Morgan. It reminded me of playing a video game and me yelling at the tv that people just can't do that in real life...

as much as any Michigan fan, but I agree that he was not our best linebacker this year. I think Ross had the most consistant play anchoring the middle of the D, and I like how he stuffs up lead blocks and runners in the interior. As our D-Line beefs up a bit in the next couple of years, our linebackers will look better. You really need a nasty D-line to make your linebackers look good IMO...

There is an old rumor still hanging out there that has no support by facts. There is no new information regarding said rumor. I kept looking for a reason this is news, but I don't see it. I do like the domino effect this could cause in College Football, but I don't see why this is being discussed today.

Funniest. Bowl name. Ever.
|1 week 3 days ago||crappy bowls||
do give small teams extra practices and something to look forward to. The problem with the bowl system is that the school is forced to pay for an allotment of tickets no matter whether they are sold. They also are forced to stay in certain pricey hotels and are forced to use other services that jack up the cost as well. Talk about a bunch of crap. After paying for expenses and tickets many schools lose a ton of money in the process. If they want these bowls really bad, the bowl itself, the TV network and the corporate sponsor should pay for travel and lodging for the schools that compete. Then they should let the schools themselves determine how many tickets they want. This would fix the system, but also take millions out of the thieves' pockets who run them. It will be a gigantic money grab until someone finally takes charge of this mess.

anyone tell me some stuff about K-State? I watched them a couple times last year with Klein, but not at all this year. Are they any good? I hope not. I think a big win in this bowl could go a long way toward our team building for a solid year next season. Go Blue!!
|1 week 3 days ago||I actually like the matchup and I like BWW||
In fact, next time you're there tell em to cook the traditional wings for 17 minutes. It's perfection, son. All I really wanted was a beatable team we could thump to gain some momentum going into the off-season. This is a good one for us, and I'm glad we don't have to play Gurley. That dude is an animal. How do you all feel about the B1G matchups this year? I used to feel like our league was overmatched for several years in a row, but because our perception has fallen our matchups are way more likely to go in our favor. This could actually start the swing of the B1G perception in the right direction. I hate hearing the national media piss all over the B1G every day.

There are several people commenting about how bad this site has gotten. If it was so horrible, nobody would come here. This site is the bomb diggity and the mood here has really just reflected the crazy range of emotions that fans have experienced this year. I like it all, really. Sometimes the super negative threads are like accidents that everyone in traffic has to slow down and gawk at on the highway. I am hopelessly addicted to UFR's, coaching strategy discussions, recruiting, liveblogs, (like I said pretty much everything) etc.... Play on Playa.

I know Coach B likes to use his crazy defense sparingly, but I would like to see it as our base defense. Now that we have Levert with his crazy long arms who can run the top of the key, we could really cause some problems for opposing teams. Nobody really runs this defense, so teams we play against won't be used to it, or how to effectively shoot us out of it. Our team also has a problem boxing guys out, and with this defense we'll have more people close to the basket that can turn and put a body on some bigs. That being said, I think we beat Duke. I have zero real evidence, stats, or knowledgeable breakdown of why I think it will happen. I just have a feeling that Iowa State was a great lesson for our kids about being really challenged and having to overcome adversity. Go Blue, Beat Duke!!!

Sat in the Big House and was really proud of this team. They fought, made crazy plays, and left it all out there. I had a great time and really wasn't mad about the loss. Sue me, but i was expecting a blowout loss and got the best performance of this entire season. Hope we get a bowl matchup we can thump to get this team's confidence on the uptick.

I get so much out of the content and camaraderie here - it's all thanks to Brian and his staff. I might not always agree with them, but I always appreciate their opinions. Like always, this site will help us through the long offseason, and I can't wait to buy Brian's new magazine next year. GoBlue!!

I also think Devin should play WR again, but that would be a tough conversation. He could just transfer if he wants, which would be sad to see. An NFL scout could come in an explain that's where he's headed anyways, but I'm not sure if that would really help. This was a cool post/idea and glad to see such a thougtful, rational breakdown of our team from the outside. He nailed why Borges is so bad right now.
|3 weeks 7 hours ago||Michigan is not a destination job?||
Just because we didn't get Harbaugh (who was headed for the NFL) doesn't validate your statement. I bet 75 of the 115 coaches in Div 1 would rather be at a program that 1. Pays as well 2. Has the Tradition 3. Has the national exposure (I could list about 20 more...). IMHO Michigan is the definition of a destination job.
|3 weeks 21 hours ago||Not what I said||
What I said was if he decides to go elsewhere because of the road ahead looking tough, we're better off. I get that you think it's all about talent, and it is true that you need talented guys to win in the B1G. However if we fill our team up with talented guys who don't posses the right character, the talent won't be as much of a factor. That's just my opinion, but I've seen a ton a teams with big time talent that never translated into wins. How many players from North Carolina in the last 7 years have gone to the NFL? How many ACC championships did they win? Zero. What do I know though? I'm just a guy on a blog.

in the face of adversity than we don't want him anyways. I think the character of the elite players is more important than that of less talented ones. The highschool stars get told about how great they are for four years and I think they are more prone to becoming premadonnas. We need our stars to be leaders; young men who grit their teeth and persevere. I think his decision will tell us a good deal about what kind of character he posesses.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||One line really bugs me...||
The part Brian wrote about how the only reason he's going is because of shame. This isn't the first time he has made a comment like this. I would be ashamed if my career was based on being a Michigan fan and I wrote that sentence. Support the team. Cheer for these guys who work their tails off. Try to have a good time in the coolest stadium in America. I will be there (driving 5 hours to get there) and will cherish the experience. Life isn't always rainbows, and being a fan will teach you these things. Getting mad, frustrated, etc... is natural, just please don't act like it's a horrible chore to do what most of us only get a few chances to do in a lifetime: witness "The Game." It is my 3rd UM v OSU and I can't wait to see it all unfold. Go Blue!!!
|3 weeks 3 days ago||I hate Ohio!||
1. My favorite shirt gives directions to Ohio from AA... south till you smell it, east till you step in it. (seriously, how do you put a "hard return" in these text boxes? I'm too dumb to figure it out) 2. My second favorite shirt says "Flush twice, it's a long way to Ohio" 3. I had a dream once that Urban really is the devil and didn't wake up surprised. 4. Quantum physics has recently taught us that alternate universes might be possible, and I'm living in one where we get up early and Ohio gets crushed under the pressure of a national championship possibility. 5. I will drink enough Saturday to stay warm in AA (hope it doesn't snow) and watch my 3rd "The Game" of my life. My other two I got to attend were bad, so third time's a charm right? Right?!? Go Blue anyways, and chin up my homies. It's great, to be, a Michigan Wolverine!
|3 weeks 3 days ago||wha?||
Ok Lane Kiffin? Really? What fucked up planet are you living on? I like the pro angle and I think Cowher, Gruden, Del Rio, and several other pro coaches not currently in head posititons would be a good place to start. In all reality we should be talking about who will replace Borges, because he's the only one, besides Funk maybe, who is in danger. Who out there are good OC candidates?
|3 weeks 4 days ago||Love this guy||
His future at Michigan is bright - we just need an OC that understands B1G football

Dude that scares me is the behemouth TE. As long as we contain that guy we will win this game. I think our defense will crush them tomorrow. Go Blue!!
|3 weeks 6 days ago||Slobberknocker.||
This game will be bloody knuckles and bloody noses. This is the type of game our Defense can really dominate (as long as they double that behemouth of a TE they have). That should give our offense plenty of chances to establish some tempo and move the ball. I really like when this team passes to open up the run. I believe that we need to do what is best for this particular team as opposed to running what we think we should become in the future. It's ok that we're not there yet, given the drastic transition from midget-ninjas to hulking mass. Go Blue!!!
