Michigan is the betting line favorite to win the national title
This thread is meant to be homer-ish and focus on how great we are and how excited we are for this season. If you intend to pour water on the fire, talk about how great OSU/MSU are or that we don't deserve this, kindly take it elsewhere.
especially since you went ahead and pointed it out.
beat them first something something.
HOWEVA, we can't win the National Championship without beating our rivals!

Until we beat MSU and OSU.
If you wait until we beat MSU and OSU this year to enjoy the ride it will just about be over by the time you start being happy...
I thought it was obvious.
Well, you did neglect to mention what a great coach Dantonio is and how much a of a leader of men Meyer has become.
Morty D'antorinio?
about not enjoying the ride? He is just saying we need to beat our rivals, and I agree

And our rival's rival's rivals.
And Rutgers...
You must be second to none at timing the markets.
You could not put this in your OP, eh?
I'm not the first in the thread to notice this, but for the sake of putting it near the top, that story isn't saying that Michigan is the favorite, based on the odds, to win the title. Alabama is (at 5-1), and Michigan is second (at 7-1).
It's just that more people have wagered on Michigan. That could be because the payoff is higher for putting money on Michigan than Alabama, because we're a bunch of homers who bet on our own team, or because of a bunch of other possibilities.
It's the Michigan money cannon difference. Michigan wins the EDSBS charity with that cannon every year too.
Do you think Ohio State or Alabama fans sit around and think like this? Good god. With Harbaugh here we aren't sneaking up on anyone. Get used to the attention and the hype and lose the loserish mentality.
Harbaugh has been here 1 year and has pretty much picked a fight with every division 1 school individually lol. We aren't sneaking up on anyone.
But, like, wouldn't it be so much better if we were?
Did we replace our coach? (Quick Google search)
Wow, that was quick. Kinda snuck up on me.
The referee does not agree with you.
And this is the mindset that we are trying to reverse. Winners don't think like that. Winners want the bullseye and the challenge.
The reason so many think like this is because this was a common occurrence under Lloyd Carr. We'd start high and get knocked off by someone (usually early in the year) we had no business losing to. I think that was simply a Lloyd thing that for whatever reason his teams tended to do.
but we're not winners, or even losers. We're fans. We don't have any impact whatsoever on this season besides noise in the stadium. I would like to win the championship as much as anybody, but I would also like to have reasonable expectations and not plummet into the depths of my despair when the team inevitably loses a game.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I choose to believe that the shirt and/or jersey I wear on game day has a direct effect on the performance of several dozen college students at a location several hundred miles away.
I agree from that viewpoint. However, Harbaugh has been hailed as the savior of the program, however, the gut reaction of many is that we won't be saved. Harbaugh is the real deal. No need to worry about that. We will win and it will be sweet again.
However.
Right on B-Nut. I mean, even if they are the favorite, when doesn't UM have a target on their back? Every team that isn't in the B1G and beats them, runs onto the field or talks about it for a decade. Even in the dark ages that were not so long ago. So team, just know that every team gets up for you, elevate your game to that fact and Just Win god damnit! Oh, and someone please hire mercs to kick the shit out of bought and corrupt refs after games to set the tone. Each and every week. Yes it does exist to all of you unknowing dips.
After beating them 16 time in a row followed by 19-5-1 record, they are our biggest rival.
I like this team a lot, but still have too many question marks for me to pick them to win it all.

Let's beat our rivals before we worry about a national championship.
Yeah, we have to go better than .500 against Rutgers before we start talking about National Championships.
Family member (lots of MSU love in my family) posted this on FB today... I thought to myself "we will see, won't we" then thought a lot about our D Line and cackled inside. Revenge will be so sweet this year. GO BLUE!
Please note, I am not for MSU. That's a family thing. It's like Sirius Black being a Gryfindor.
And yet so many of my Michigan Law classmates were MSU alumni....
I choose to root for my entire alma mater and measure success by how well we do on AND OFF the field.
Therefore, who has it better than us!? NOOOOOOOBODY!!!!
