a Rich Rod defense, and a Hoke offense.
US soccer needs a Harbaugh as a coach.
"Hey we're playing Argentina.... Let me start a midfield that gives us absolutely going forward and also gets torched defensively. Then I'll start my worst available forward who disappears completely against any team with a pulse. At least this way I can use Bradley as my 10, where he's even worse than normal."
Should've been simple.... Nagbe in for jones, pulisic for Wood, Besler at LB allowing Johnson to play Mid for Bedoya. Instead JK plays his worst possible lineup.
What an idiot.

By JIM HARBAUGH they would at least know what it is to compete.
Charming soft
At least I can go to bed on time.
Took about 2 minutes to be shown how far away we are.
Possession: 72-28%
Shots on Goal: 7-0
Well that was festive
When your team is that outclassed in talent, you should go into a shell and try to play defensive. Hope for a couple counter attacks or maybe get it to a shootout.
Trying to play open and in space against a team with more talent on the bench than your top group is idiotic.

Athleticism is not the issue. It's not like these other countries' teams are too fast or strong for us. The problem is that they're more skilled.
Our issue is crappy youth development. A very large number of American kids play soccer - more than in most other countries, actually - but not enough are developed into high-level talents.
no it's athleticism too. Defenders like brooks look completely out of shape and out of their league. All argentina had to do was lob the ball over them. The forwards and midfield too were god awful, rarely even pressing enough to force argentina to pass back to the goalie or clear the ball to random spots. Thus they held possession without even trying for 3-4 minute stretches. We didn't even see their real skill
IIRC, soccer is the second-largest participation sport in this country. We don't produce great players because we generally don't believe in the European-style youth systems, but it's not that we lack for kids interested in the sport.
Bradley at least has that win over Spain in the Confederation Cup semi-final. USA parked the bus and conceded possession to Spain which was going to happen anyway regardless of the strategy. Bradley smartly knows their strength which is counter in which they used it to their advantage.
Klinnsy may have marquee wins but they came from friendlies, not important matches like Copa, World Cup, Confederation Cup, etc.
Argentina is conducting a soccer clinic here. They're trying to teach us something!
An international satellite camp!

I don't understand why he is on the field. We can't string together more than 3 passes in a row, and he is almost always the last touch before losing possession.
this reads like the US is going to take some time catching up to the worlds best teams or the worlds best player.is making a Messi.of the US team. I don't expect the US team to do much against the worlds best teams does anyone else? That would be like putting our pro football teams against any country in the world. I would bet we wouldn't feel so bad about how our pro soccer team is getting spanked by the better teams in the world.
If you want to see how good that Messi guy is? You-tube his best goals and I think you would agree with the post that says "Messi is not of this world" and when it comes to soccer I agree. The US soccer program would have to get some real players who have played everyday of their lives and regularly against the best competition.Like that European league or whatever they are calling it these days. Spoken like a true American right?
His free kick goal was magnificent. That alone made watching this match worth it.
That was so sloppy and embarrassing.
Sweet pass Bradley.

Wow. We're really getting our peckers pounded flat here.
How we looking? Haven't heard his name much lately.

What's the deal with Bradley? I've seen a bunch of people saying he sucks, and I'm confused because I thought he was supposed to be one of our best players over the past few World Cup cycles. Is he just getting old? Did he fall off a cliff?
He'll have 1 nice run a game...it led to a couple goals over the past few years. But you can count on him to lose possession 5-10 times a game when an average midfielder wouldn't. His mistakes have cost the national team countless goals in the past 6 years.

We're not good at it, so we should just quit? That's not a very American way of thinking.
Or the most popular sport in the world. Either way.
But it's 1,000,000x more entertaining than game of throne threads on a football forum.
The current world champions are Germany. A country certainly known for its short, poor population, huh?

USA only has the best sports in the world. If you aren't playing pro football or basketball, yous a chump.
Sarcasm off.
