Walker #6, K. Davis #23, Beilein Final Four Helped get McCaffrey?

Submitted by RED DAWN on

Per the twitters:

Kareem Walker announced he will be #6 and Kingston Davis announced he will be #23.  I know it was rumored that Kareem would take over Wheatley's old number (he wore it in hs) but didn't see Kingston taking on the Norfleet legacy.

Also Dylan's father and former Bronco posted this.

Few years back @LisaMcCaffrey6 & I went to the Final Four & chose to cheer for Michigan. Hope we kept those shirts!

I don't know where I would've got this info on my own If I wanted to look for it. I think if we keep critiquing people for every little thing, the board is eventually going to scare off people with actual news like this.

**On the other hand, I probably wouldn't of used the word "legacy" to describe a player who transferred to a Div II team before his SR year, with all due respect to the mighty Tuskegee Golden Tigers mind you.

At least the OP didn't create three separate threads, and I more-or-less knew what the thread was about before I clicked on it.  Also, the fact that the McCaffrey parents were pulling for Michigan against Louisville is not only cool, but it's also further evidence that the McCaffrey interest in Michigan has a long history.

Not that you don't raise a fair point.  But for those of us not on the Twitters, this is interesting stuff.

Denver Post has a couple of good articles on McCaffrey's commitment:

Valor Christian QB Dylan McCaffrey commits to Michigan

"It's a great fit," the 6-foot-5, 210-pound McCaffrey told The Denver Post. "(Harbaugh) is a great guy. He's definitely out there. Say whatever you want, but it's all in the best way and you have to say he's a football genius. I know he's a competitor, and I like to think I am."

Dylan McCaffrey and family evaluated all angles before his commitment to Michigan

On competing for playing time in two seasons at a program that was rejuvenated the past year by first-year coach and alumnus Jim Harbaugh: “Right now, there’s a quarterback competition. Wherever I would go I knew there would be good people. You have to compete and you have to expect it.”

In the second article, he says he hasn't decided yet whether to enroll early.

I don't know how lucky I am to be reading a board populated by gradutes of such prestigious universities as this one--and from the reading, MOST of the people here have graduate degres, and even a lot of PhD's--and they can't wait to tell the world that a high school football player has chosen his number! OH THE JOY! THE NEWS!!!! TELL THE WORLD!!!!

dude didnt do a single thing on the field here.

There is, however, a legitimate Chris Perry legacy that would be much more realistic and appropriate.

Norfleet....HA! good one...

Maybe it wasn't the "Norfleet Legacy," but the NBA's recent All Star Weekend and Michigan's upcoming switch to Nike Jumpman football jerseys that inspired Kingston Davis to wear number 23 next season.

Tyree KInnel also might be happy to keep number 23 on defense.

The SEC will soon try to make a rule that basketball teams cannot make final fours to recruit potential football players years down the line. That's just totally unfair tactics, man. /s
