drinking thread and boss bitch

Submitted by wigeon on
Tough week here hard by the shore of Lake Michigan. Lots of snow, plowing, and all the associated bullshit. Nerves were frazzled, kids had to be shuttled, and suddenly i was on deck for dinner. I was just about to order pizza when i had stellar idea. 1. Brown meat. In this case it was duck sausage, but anything will do. 2. Add tomatos and onion to meat. On low 3; season to taste 4. Answer stoopid email from disconnected boss who has no grasp of reality. (Hey do you really think you can do 300k in February?). Yes you shitfuck, i can. 5. Brown corn tortilla 6. Spoon meat over browned tortilla and cover with cheese. Kill a Sierra Nevada and fire off belligerant email questioning bosses value. 7. Pull shit from 350 degree oven, smother in sour cream, and send another ratfuck email to boss asking why exactly he skipped the 10:00 call this morning and missing the explanation that the management team completely endorsed the solution, the only fucking thing he could've possibly contributed. 8. Eat. Long week. Thank God for this here cold beer. Drinking thread? Ok.

Thankfully, I'm a teacher. Due date is set for the last day of school.
Although I know those things aren't exact, I'm looking forward to a few months with the new MGoBaby before heading back to the office.
If we did the math right, it happened the night of a Cake concert.
All in all, pretty good timing on all fronts.

Guinness in a can tonight, by the way.

Tonight I'm drinking some St. Ambrose Cherry Amore Mead. It's good. A little sweeter than I prefer, but it isn't like drinking straight honey or anything. And I have no boss to bitch about, cause I'm currently unemployed. Hooray for seasonal work!

Belt and suspenders IPA. Picked up some today based on a recommendation. Local Chicago microbrew. I'm taking a class in the craft brewing industry thinking it might be a good "career 2.0" to do something that is fun instead of chasing the big bucks. Has definitely improved my beer networking already. Trying to figure out how to combine craft brewing and technology. Then I'd really have fun.

Op be grateful you have a job. Your boss is still working at 6p like Harbaugh. You sound like a better fit for the Hoke country club regime. Knob Creek for me while I respond to my boss' Friday email with the appropriate balance of candor and respect. Go Blue.

I feel like all these threads are most of the time are a "dick measuring contest".

"I'm drinking [expensive, rare beer]"

"I'm smoking a very expensive cigar, while sitting on my bear fur rug"

I guess though, if it makes people happy, then so be it.

This is MGoBlog, so there's more that must be done here. You have to measure it at strategic points during the day for several weeks and chart it, then post the trends and results in a diary along with a discussion of the results. Not all of the results, of course, in the event that there is something that might not warrant sharing, but like most things here, we'll leave that to the discretion of the blogger.

Have you ever been up to Max's in Baltimore? One of the best beer bars I've been to at least given that beer bars weren't common when I lived in Baltimore. In DC, the Big Hunt in DuPont used to have a lot of great taps. It's been awhile so I'm sure there's other options in both locations. Unfortunately you're kind of in the middle.

They aren't my favorite local Brewer but I needed a six pack of something sessionable. Have a fridge full of 8%-11%abv stouts and dipa 22oz'ers, so had to Diversify my holdings. Solid brewery but if in chicago I recommend trying Half Acre, Spiteful and Off Color. Good breweries that are a little more adventurous.
