I held a door open for Mike…

I held a door open for Mike Martin once at a brewery. He was with Fox Detroit when they were doing their football week in Michigan tour. This was back in...2018 I think. Anyway, his hands were full with a box of promo materials. He said thanks and told me to take a hat!

I think the point is more…

I think the point is more that we had an NFL caliber athlete who was grossly underutilized in a facet of the game where he could have made a difference, not "look how insanely productive he has been in the NFL, why didn't we do that?"

If you do have those in your…

If you do have those in your yard and you haven't already you should report them to:

Don't know why ya have to…

Don't know why ya have to hate like that, especially when he also provides information about the less covered sports that other folks might find interesting. Actually, you know, contributing to the board. Just sayin'.

Also he tells people in the…

Also he tells people in the first sentence what is about to come, it isn't like he's baiting people into reading it.

I think what he's saying is…

I think what he's saying is that the game wasn't in the big house last year, it was @osu.

Don't really know of any…

Don't really know of any good articles but I can go ahead and spitball an answer for you. Warning it will be mostly speculation on my part. A lot of the clubs overseas run youth programs to feed players into their systems. Back in the days these were (probably) mostly geared towards boys as the sport was and still is male dominated. The U.S. was dawdling along on the men's world stage with the products of amateur leagues (NCAA) and a few who were good or lucky enough to come up through various youth programs overseas. While this route to playing professionally wasn't good enough for us to compete internationally with the men, it was leaps and bounds ahead of what the rest of the world was doing at the time as far as the women's game was concerned. We can even see the creeping effects now, other countries have been taking women's soccer more seriously and it shows. The women's team, while still definitely one of the powerhouses, isn't nearly as dominant as it used to be. And the men's team, while still struggling to find its footing, has a lot of exciting young talent coming into the system because of quite a few players who have either been brought through MLS youth academies or academies overseas.

I guess the ultimate point I'm coming to is that the level of organization for women's soccer, between recreational leagues and collegiate competition, was way better in the U.S. than anywhere else in the world at the time. But that isn't going to cut it anymore, just like in the men's game. End speculation.

I was there for a game a…

I was there for a game a couple of years ago, managed to find parking just a couple of blocks away, but it was kinda shitty weather so I don't know if thats normal. Probably not. Anyway, we were parked on a neighborhood street, so I'm assuming it was decently safe. You could always toss a blanket or jacket or something over your clubs/suitcases, that's usually my go to move if I don't want nice things to be seen.

I've done keto on and off…

I've done keto on and off for the last couple of years. I can tell you that when I started I was hovering around 190 lbs at 5'7", so I was considered solidly overweight. In the first few months I dropped down to about 160, in that time I was consuming roughly 1400 calories per day, about 110 grams of protein, 80 ish of fat and trying to stay below 20 grams of net carbs. The good thing about it, I suppose, is if you're trying to stay away from saturated fat it's pretty easy to get most of your fat intake from sources like olive oil or canola oil, or other vegetable oils that are low in saturated and high in all the "good fats" that people are always super pumped about. I can tell you that at times my diet will consist of what other people may call "too much bacon". I've had a couple of physicals for work in the past done while I've been on keto and I'm assuming all my blood work and stuff came back fine because it never raised any red flags.

A couple of things I would like to note for you. I am a 29 y/o male, these things may be different if you're female or older or younger. I work a very strenuous summertime job as a wildland firefighter which is why I kind of do keto seasonally. In the off season I do strenuous cardio about 3 times a week and body weight exercises pretty much everyday. Some resources for you if you do feel like trying keto; I use the myfitnesspal app on my phone to help me track my daily intake. I don't know if you use reddit or not but there is a pretty decent community over at the keto subreddit, they have some good places to get started pinned to the top and in the sidebar; a simple keto calculator and sample meal planning stuff. They aren't too toxic, but like anywhere online there can be some assholes. Also if you're considering a diet and what not make sure you consult a doctor. He or she might not be on board and suggest something else or they may not even know what keto/whatever your diet of choice is, so just talk to them and make sure it would be right for you. And like most people have already said, it's pretty much all about calories in vs calories out, just keep that in mind. Sorry for the wall of text. Good luck!

I have a problem with him…

I have a problem with him suggesting that penalty kicks bear no resemblance to the rest of the sport when they are, in fact, an actual part of the game. They can happen in regular time. They aren't just some made up thing only to be used in the event of a tie.

Also saying so unequivocally that saves are solely the result of luck and guesswork. GK's train for penalties. They scout penalty takers just like every other player in every other sport scouts their opponents.

Neither of those instances…

Neither of those instances were Collins having "bad hands" though.

He has to go outside, turn…

He has to go outside, turn around three times and spit. And curse!

Yes, I didn't label it as…

Yes, I didn't label it as such. My bad. But it does involve football and a former Michigan player, so I have that going for me at least. Right?

Haha, you're a fucking idiot…

Haha, you're a fucking idiot Dayton.

On this day we are all Adam…

On this day we are all Adam Biggers.

I think he might be Adam…

I think he might be Adam Biggers.

What if you're Adam Biggers?…

What if you're Adam Biggers? What if I'm Adam Biggers? Would it make some kind of difference if he were Adam Biggers? Who is Adam Biggers anyways? Is this all some kind of ploy to get people to search for Adam Biggers so that he gets more traffic or something?

Hey, glad to see you're…

Hey, glad to see you're still writing some stuff, Ace. Hope you're doing well! Go Blue!

I feel like a lot of…

I feel like a lot of hurricanes that make landfall in the Galveston area of Texas probably end up doing stuff to Oklahoma eventually. Like, yeah, maybe not actually still called a "hurricane" at that point, but...you know. Hurricane Ike comes to mind. Skirted the eastern part of Oklahoma, but ended up making it all the way to Michigan.

I admire your persistence.

Try bosscast, it's usually…

Try bosscast.net, it's usually pretty good for national network games. You might want to make sure you have an ad-blocker installed on your browser beforehand, though.

Hey. Yeah! I did it/still…

Hey. Yeah! I did it/still kind of do it. I used it to lose about 45 lbs over the course of 6 months or so. Probably the most important thing to remember is electrolytes. Get some "low sodium" salt, since it's about half sodium and half potassium. Ground beef, bacon, and chicken thighs (skin on) will be your best friends. I know of some people who have trouble maintaining ketosis while consuming dairy so you might want to try going without cheese or heavy cream to begin with, but you can slowly work it in and see what happens. I use MyFitnessPal just to loosely keep track of my macros, and remember, protein is a goal, fat is a limit, if you consume enough fat to keep you full and not hit the number you don't need to struggle to put down more fat. This keto calculator will give you a pretty decent basic starting point for your macros. Also, I don't know if you reddit or not but r/keto is a pretty active community. They have a guide for beginners in the side bar, too.

Sierra Blanca

I don't know if you're talking about down in Texas on I-10 or up in New Mexico by Ruidoso, but either way no, I have not. I'm looking to get away from Guadalupe one of my weekends and hopefully up towards Alamogordo or somewhere near there and I might check it out.

Carlsbad Caverns/Guadalupe Mtns.

As a current employee of both these parks I gotta give 'em a shout out. Guadalupe Mountains NP is great if you're in to backcountry hiking. It also contains the state high point for Texas. And being quite far away from cities gives you some great sky watching during the night.

Directv

Well some very brief searching on Tvguide has helped me find that if you can find a bar, hotel, or someplace that has Directv the game can be watched no problem. Seeing that you will be in the capital and one of the largest cities on the islands at the time I can't imagine it would be too hard. Tvguide tells me the channel will be 216.

I have always been curious

I have always been curious about why college uses halves but both HS (at least when I was in school) and NBA use quarters. I wouldn't mind seeing all levels use the same timing standard.

Thank you WD, I appreciate

Just browsing very briefly it

Just browsing very briefly it looks like he was runner up in both weight throw and shot, didn't see anything about discus.

No group of death,

But I think from top to bottom the best games will come from group D.

Also, what is the point of the FIFA rankings anyway? I've always hated them.

Did anyone see that WVU QB's

Did anyone see that WVU QB's hand? Shit was nasty.

Bosscast

Step 1. Download uBlock Origin

Step 2. Go to bosscast.net

Step 3. Find link for game, this may be easier if you adjust the timezone at the top of the schedule page. Or just Ctrl+f.

Personal note: I have found bosscast to be the most reliable of the streaming sites I've used over the years. Even with uBlock I do still sometimes have popups to close. Also make sure any anti-virus software you're running is up to date. I've never had any problems.

I mean, if we just put it in

I mean, if we just put it in the hoop more than the other team good things will happen, right?

Box Score

So I just briefly checked the box score on ESPN and saw that they have turned it over ~twice as much as we have (20-8) and we had, at the time, 15 assists on 23 made shots...but were only like 23 of 55 from the floor or something ridiculous. At the risk of sounding Madden-esque it seems as if everything is going great, we just need to hit our shots.

Los Luna

According to Wikipedia it is indeed named after the Luna family, and in spanish the plural of a family name is preceded by los, hence Los Luna...and since Americans can't seem to handle the lack of an s at the end of things that are plural we kinda just tossed one on there and it became Los Lunas.

Hey so I know this might seem

Hey so I know this might seem kind of weird, but as a yooper currently living in Montana I was wondering where you're from/where in Montana you're living, if you're comfortable sharing that information? Also curious if you have a sweet spot where you watch games? Also, I hope I read that right and you're a yooper in montana and not a...montanan in the u.p.

I actually think homeless I actually think homeless driven rickshaws could work out. They know the cities quite well, and it would give them some way to earn money without just hanging out on the corner.
Yes

Yes

I personally don't really

I personally don't really think he's a great fit in the NBA, but could see him succeding in a backup role mostly for two reasons,

1. I think he is a much better passer than Burke

2. I think he is better at creating shots for himself

Now bear in mind I really have no statistical analysis to back this up, merely my own observations from watching both of them play

Sorry, I should've known Sorry, I should've known there would be confusion, with the spring game and all the QB talk recently. I won't let it happen again.
Charles Barkley

To be fair, Charles Barkley was a dominant PF at 6'6". I mean, I'm not calling Livers the next Barkley or anything, and I know the game was different when he played, but it just goes to show that height isn't everything.

I appreciate him.

I appreciate him.

Food

I'm pretty sure the mark of a good chef would be the ability to make good dinner out of whatever ingredients you give him. It's all about ingenuity and making things work. So I mean, I get what you're trying to say but the metaphor doesn't really work.

Unless you mean literal shit, then yeah.

Calel

I can't be the only one who noticed his name, right? Just slightly different from Kal-el...ya know, Superman?

That was an awesome

That was an awesome breakdown. I find it funny that it took me about 15 minutes to read and understand all of that when it only took them about 5 seconds to score on that play. Amazing.

Wish the Pistons had room on

Wish the Pistons had room on the roster for him, I think he would make a great SVG big man. Other than that, yeah, I hope he lands on his feet somewhere. As a former avid marijuana smoker myself I can say that even though it may not be "addictive" in the traditional sense, it is still a tough habit to kick.

I really like his game. Makes

I really like his game. Makes good cuts, attacks holes with power. Good balance. It really is pretty awesome having him as part of a four-headed rushing attack. Hopefully Evans is back next week healthy and ready to play, too!

Remember MMMbop?

So I was going down nostalgia road the other day and was listening to mmmbop for some reason (cause it is a catchy song, ya know?) and I found out that Hanson is still a band and they are still making music. They have some pretty decent new stuff. If you're curious check out Get the Girl Back off of their most recent album Anthem, or Thinking 'Bout Something from the album Shout It Out. It's a little poppy, a little rocky, but also a little funky. They've got some horns and stuff.

Also San Fermin. They're weird, but make some decent music if you're into kinda slower stuff with some dark themes and creepy music. Their male singer has a very deep voice that kinda reminds me of the Crash Test Dummies, and their lead female singer has a pretty impressive range. If you want a friendly song from them listen to Jackrabbit from their recent album of the same name, if you want weird creepy dissonant baroque style music then listen to pretty much anything else from them. They also put on a kickass live show. So see them if they're coming to your town.

Edit: Creepy sounds a little off-putting, so instead I'd like to describe San Fermin's music as "hauntingly beautiful".

Would've really liked to see

Would've really liked to see Castillo come in at LB (yes I know he isn't great) so we could push Fabian up on the wing.

Maybe toss Nagbe in the middle with Jones and Bradley and push Bedoya out to the other wing and scarifice Dempsey in the middle so that Wood could play at his more natural position.

Have Dempsey come in around the 65th minute and give us something off the bench instead of running around up top with hardly any service all game.

Whatever.

Edit: so it would look like

                Guzan

Yedlin--Cameron--Brooks--Castillo

           Jones----Bradley

                 Nagbe

 Bedoya                      Johnson

                  Wood

Just imagine Jones and Bradley kind of staggered a little more.
