Hello: Nate Johnson
[247]
Michigan has acquired a commitment from TN WR Nate Johnson. Johnson came out of nowhere, as it was just two days ago that he set up a visit. Johnson is the definition of a late-rising prospect: after decommitting from Purdue in November, he picked up offers from Miami, Tennessee, Penn State, and Michigan.
Johnson's a four star on 247; the other sites have him a three star save Scout, which hasn't ranked him yet. More after the basketball game.

hmmm
- LB (Bush?)
- LB (Jones)
- Gary
- Walker
- DB
- DB
- Nordin
- OL (Davis or Delance)
is a board I could see - even that assumes 1 decommit (Weaver)
Not sure where you find more spots esp since we need 2 LBs and 2 DBs no matter what just for depth chart purposes. Guess you kick out Nordin if you can land a Crawford.

Isn't Nordin potentially a greyshirt anyways?

We only seem to be recruiting three realistic prospects. I think the priorities are 2 LBs, 1 OL and 1 DB. It's a juggling act for the others. I think you aim to take the best players on the board for the remaining slots, leaving one reserved for Gary.

May the thought of covering you one-on-one bring sleepless nights to DB's everywhere.

that I've seen in a while. Kid makes some great cuts in traffic with the ball in his hands, and although he doesn't look real big he does not go down on first contact.

I always like to predict Magnus' grades and usually get it within 2-3 so I am going to go with 78. (he gave perry a 71)

TTB 76! woo - close

Very good athlete. Excellent hands (although highlight tapes don't show any drops), very quick with good acceleration. He really goes after the ball and adjusts to off target passes. Seems tough.
The only thing I'm not seeing is great top end speed. He usually doesn't pull away from the high school DBs. If he did, he might be a boarderline 5 star.
Very nice commitement for slot WR.

A ND fan on another board who apparently has seen him live quite a few times said his hands are pretty reliable though he does drop a few. So I'm thinking Darboh level hands as oposed to Butt level.

He kind of reminds me of Manningham. Not elite top end speed but very quick and elusive which gets him the separation he needs to get open.
Overall his routes look pretty good, despite a lot of false stepping at the line, which will hopefully get cleaned up with some good coaching. He looks particularly good at those double moves to the corner which are very Manninghamesque, and those quick flashes over the middle where he catches the ball in traffic.
His hands look phenomenal and he blocks like a fullback. Good pickup!

I also see a smaller, poor man's version of David Terrell in him. He's not a big receiver, but seems to play big. He has confidence in his athleticism with those long strides and that cutting/juking ability... Great tools, great acceleration. Agree with a post above that he'd be a 5-star player if he had elite top-end speed - but his speed isn't bad either.
Welcome aboard, Nate!

I know the basketball game lacked much excitement, but did Brian doze off before it ended?
Whose turn is it to wake him up? Seth? Ace? Adam?
Anyone?

Nate's tape says it all, this is a tremendous pickup. He is like a smaller, but quicker version of Steve Breaston, and with better hands.

One of the better WR highlight films I've seen in a while. I think he will do well in Harbaugh's offense.
December 12th, 2015 at 11:26 PM ^
Part of me was weary of his highlight reel because his team's QB is much better than your average high school QB. But then I remembered that our QBs are going to be much better than your average college QB.

Unless, of course, his film really did leave you fatigued.

I still want :
Lavert Hill
Rashan Gary
Kareem Walker
Deving Bush Jr or Dontavious Jackson or Jonathan Jones or Caleb Kelly
Pie Young or Donnie Corley
David Long
Jean Delance or Terrance Davis
