Sometimes people interview for a job simply to get better at interviewing or to find their worth in the market.  It's a natural thing for him to interview whether he's offered, or gets accepted, who knows?

But if so JH will find us another defensive mastermind I have no doubt.  Hopefully Greg Mattison stays with us for a few years I think he's still having fun!

are Michigan coaches up for sale or something? I don't know one assistant for OSU, MSU, Iowa, Wisconsin. All the while we know the Michigan assistants and they all need jobs I guess. Why is there not one word being spoken about Iowa coaches I know MSU finally lost Narduzzi but that took years of great defenses. What the hell is going on. Don't get me wrong if they are wanting to use Michigan as a place to leave well then by all means good luck with your careers.

Idk I guess it's just a matter of perspective. I had heard plenty about OSU and MSU coaches. Position coaches often do not have the same level of prestige as coordinators (for obvious reasons) but I can always know and recognize a few from many of the powerhouse programs around the nation.

As Harbaugh and Co. Have preached our staff has a ton of experience at the pro and collegiate levels. Obviously that prestige, coupled with working alongside Harbaugh, make many of our staff desirable to the many teams currently on the coaching carousel.

Hard to blame them for leaving if becoming a HC is truly a goal of theirs. The Narduzzi's of the world are becoming more and more of a rarity. To be honest many average coaches are becoming HCs now a days simply because you don't have to be a terrific X's & O's guy to have a successful program. If you have a scheme, are a great recruiter and love new/flashy things you'll begin to attract talent. With talent comes W's.

He could have just said you don't know dick. But then you would have been offended. By giving you due respect, you can't complain as he's given you appropriate respect. In this case, it seems, that respect might also have been given by simply saying "you don't know dick". See how that works?

As long as Mattison is around, I feel good about any DC transition. Recruiting may suffer a bit, but that's true of any coaching change. As far as the X's and O's, we have a brain trust of coaches and staff members. Harbaugh has a network of possible new hires. We'll be just fine.

I almost got suckered into posting another thread about this as well. Searched only to find it still on the first page. Glad I'm not the only one who missed the original thread, I guess?

for having the best coaching staff available is that they will be candidates for promotions at other schools.  That's just the way of things.

No matter.  Great coaches will ALWAYS want to work with Harbaugh.  If and when Durkin gets his HC shot, Harbaugh will find someone good to fill his spot.  Harbaugh's evaluation of talent doesn't end at the sidelines.
