I really don't get how Iowa beating Purdue somehow improved their standing relative to ND beating BC. These are basically the same teams as last week, and yet one team dropped behind the other.

to beat Oklahoma...but wouldn't that just jump them ahead of Michigan?  Oklahoma has been playing so well of late, and OK State is ranked one spot behind Michigan.  Wouldn't them beating #3 seem more impressive than Michigan beating #8?

I actually think we need to be rooting for Clemson, Alabama, and Oklahoma's spots to be solidified by them winning. It avoids them falling in ways that cramp up the headroom above us. Also, if OK loses, it really risks OK state jumping us.

Then we want Iowa to win, so that if we get to play them, our win looks as good as possible. If we're vying for a Rose Bowl spot with Iowa, though, then we want them to lose since it helps build our case. That's a weird one, though, and we potentially won't really know what we want out of them for a little while (depending on what happens).

Obviously we want one big sparty no from penn state.

Then, we probably want ND to lose, no? That way we can jump them if we win. Same with Baylor. Both of those games have close lines (it's Stanford by 3.5 and Baylor by 1.5), so let's hope those break our way.

I don't know that we have rooting interests in FSU vs FL, since they're ranked next to each other.

Then we probably want teams below us to lose, unless they're playing teams above us.

I'm surprised Oklahoma jumped Iowa, but it does make sense since they have a tougher schedule. I'm just glad the committee actually cares about how you play and who you beat (see Florida falling).

Still can't believe the OSU offense on Saturday. So pathetic. That said, it'll be so much more hilarious if MSU loses to Penn St this week. There's definitely a chance.

After years of hunkering down in my bunker this time of year and telling myself that "it's just a game--life goes on" and waiting to see if we get to 6-6 to make it to a shitty bowl game and gain those extra practices in hopes that next year will be slightly less worse...

...it feels DAMN GOOD to be in the midst of hate week and actually looking forward to The Game. Yes, it's still just a game and life does go on, but this year I'm going to enjoy it. Go Blue!

Only if Oregon wins their bowl game. They're 8-3 at the moment, with two home losses. And they needed a miracle to beat ASU. But they're playing really well at the moment, and it does look like a 3rd quality win for Sparty.

I don't understand why UNC isn't ahead of Stanford, FSU, or Florida.  Just really underrated.  They should be considered for the playoff if they win out, but can they jump 10 spots in two weeks?

should we win the B1G for us to make the playoffs
(entities includes Notre Dame for lack of a better term)

Spreads noted for this week (fav/dog)

Of course, we have to win the B1G, which requires

         • a Mich win v   #8 OSU 10-1 11/28  (1.5)
         • a PSU win @ #5 MSU 10-1 11/28  (11)
         • a Mich win v Iowa in CCG 12/05

Ordered from Most Likely to Least Likely

PAC 12  #9 Stanford 9-2
     • Mich eeks out a final higher ranking
              --or--
     • Stanford loses a game
         • v #6 ND 10-1 11/28  (3.5)
                 • But a Stanford loss locks ND in above us

         • v SouthChamp 12/05
                  • #23 UCLA 8-3 (3.5) @ USC 7-4 11/28 (3.5)

#6 Notre Dame 10-1
     • loses @ #9 Stanf 9-2 11/28 (3.5)

SEC  (highly unlikely)
      • A two loss CCG participant knocks off the other

         • #2 Bama 10-1
              • loses @ Aub 11/28 (13.5)
              -- or --
         • #12 Fla 10-1
              • loses v #13 FSU 9-2  11/28 (2)

     • The two loss participant wins the CCG 12/05

ACC  (extremely unlikely)
     • A two loss UNC knocks off a one-loss Clemson
        • #1 Clem 10-0
               • loses @ SCar 11/28 (17.5)
        • #14 UNC 10-1
               • loses @ NCSt 11/28  (6.5)
    • CCG: UNC 10-2 deals Clem 11-1 2nd loss 12/05

Big 12  (no scenarios for this to happen)
    • The #4 Okla 10-1 @ #11 OkSt 10-1 winner 11/28
          • finishes w/ one loss
    • #7 Bayl 9-1 could also finish w/ one loss
         • @ #18 TCU 11/27
         • v Texas 12/05
    • But there's NO WAY the B12 gets two teams
          • One-loss B12 runner-up possibilities:
                • Bayl (Bayl wins out; Okla wins)
                • OkSt (OkSt wins; Bayl wins out)
    • The OOC schedule was TERRIBLE
          • For either of these two teams
          • For the conference as a whole
    • There's just no way to justify allocating two teams
       to the B12 when there's
       zero inter-conference superiority evidence

Just beat those chicken fuckers to the south on Saturday, and whatever else happens, it happens. We beat OSU, I guaran-fuckin-tee the Fiesta, Peach, or hell, maybe even the Rose Bowl if we're lucky, will come calling.

Who on this board would honestly not jump at the chance to play in one of those games, one year removed from being 5-7, a national laughingstock, and being our rival's annual tune-up games?

and PSU can protect Hackenberg for a little while, the Lions have a chance against that swiss cheese secondary.  It would be awesome to see PSU dump Dantonio and those overrated bastards in EL

If we play really well Saturday and set the table, then maybe Sparty can shit the bed like they have been threatening to do the last five weeks.

ND will get beat by Stanford.  Oklahoma might have a difficult time with oSu in Bedlam, but I hope they win.  I'd love to see ND or Florida have to play Baylor in a Bowl game.

I just don't get the News Year Eve thing with Bowl games, everyone is partying not watching football.  I will be in Glen Arbor, MI watching football and drinking Capt Morgan.

So close....  If we win Saturday, Penn State pulls a pearl out of their ass, and then we beat Iowa that takes care of 3 of the 9 teams in front of us.

We're presently B1G #4.  Should we become B1G #1, there's no way the committee is choosing B12 #2 over B1G #1.  So that's four assured spots up.

Next, the committee may be listing Stanford ahead of us because Stanford is the PAC12 #1 team (any non-fluke league champion should at least be on the table) while we are presently B1G #4.  That could very well change just by us becoming B1G #1.  So maybe five spots up with nothing else happening.  But we know Stanford and Notre Dame play each other, so that would be five sure spots up to #5.

Now if Stanford beats ND and then loses in the PAC12 CCG, that's the magic 6 spots up to get us into the playoffs.

It's that close should we become the B1G champion, which is the most unlikely occurence in the chain of necessary events as PSU will need to win at MSU as an 11 point underdog.

I don't care what happens the rest of the season as long as the Buckeyes don't luck their way into the playoff.

I have this sick feeling that we will lose a close game on the final drive, MSU loses cause cook doesn't play, and then Ohio goes on to blast Iowa and get into the playoffs.

I really hope we beat them and then they lose their bowl game... 3 straight losses might take the wind out of their sail for a cool minute. I'll settle for us beating them. How great would it be to throttle them like 24-7 or something?

Man if someone told me before the season & Rudock transfer that we would be a top 10 team with a shot at the big ten title @ playoff in year 1 of Harbaugh I would have laughed and bet the house against it.

Lesson: Never count out Jim Harbaugh.

Of course this is predicated on MSU beating Penn St...If PSU wins then pf course we want Iowa to keep winning but otherwise...

We need to move up 6 spots..

1. Iowa loses to Neb but beats MSU....

2.Stanford Beats ND but loses to UCLA/USC winner

3.TCU beats Baylor

4.OK St beats OU

Right  There is 7 spots including OSU if we beat them

This does not include any other crazy wacky upsets like we ALWAYS see this week and the following week in College football...like say S Carolina at home beats Clemson in a rivalry game...it happens

We are still in this thing...WIN THE GAME
