I don't understand why UNC isn't ahead of Stanford, FSU, or Florida. Just really underrated. They should be considered for the playoff if they win out, but can they jump 10 spots in two weeks?

between I-80/I-99 vs. US-322/I-99 straight out of Dubois. I have relatives that live in State College, and have taken 322 over from Clearfield, and it's not terrible on a regular day. No idea how it is on gamedays. Keep in mind, 322 is a two-lane road most of the way from Dubois and hilly as hell. So if you don't mind feeling like you're going to fly off a cliff, you might give it a try. Either way, I would get there way earlier than you expect because traffic is a major concern no matter which way you go.

my god, that drive was pathetic. Three plays that should have been dead and buried that ended up 20-yard gains

basically you have a kill a dude to get this penalty a lot of times. There was a direct helmet hit (no question targeting) in the Baylor-Oklahoma game with no call, and Anu Solomon got a concussion the Arizona-Utah game with no call. This is the most subjective call I've seen outside of block/charge in basketball.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Obvious targeting call||
Not called, of course. I saw a dude get his helmet knocked clean off by a straight crown of the helmet shot in the OU/Baylor game as well; not targeting. I've come to the conclusion that the Big 10 is the only conference calling it.
|2 weeks 5 days ago||Stickers are probably too big||
So there's a few things going on here. If the stickers are the same size as the old ones from way back, there's less real estate along the ears to put them in because the lines of the helmet are farther apart now than they used to be. The stickers never used to be jammed inbetween the lines. Maybe the sticker requirement is too lax with dudes getting 6-8 stickers a game. After the Utah game, I was like, well hell, those helmets are going to fill up fast. They should consider adding a super sticker of a different color/type that is basically a higher denomination than the plain sticker (say 1 super sticker = 5 or 10 regular stickers) to clean things up a bit.

I think refusing drugs is a big part of that and it's quite strong of your mom to do such. Hospice was a pretty awful experience in my mom's case. I mean, I don't know how she felt (I'd like to think she didn't feel any pain), but it was either the tumors or the drugs talking because she would talk to her invisible friend Penny (ie, the wall next to her bed) for the final couple weeks. That came a few weeks after answering every question with "zero zero"
How you feel today mom? Zero zero
What day is it? Zero zero
What did you eat today? Zero zero
What the fuck does that even mean?
I visited her every weekend, and every weekend it was like we lost another part of her. For five months. At the end, I'd really had enough, and figured she wouldn't even know if I was there anyway, but my grandma was resolute and still wanted to see her every Sunday. So I kept grandma happy. I would just say hello and walk back to the lobby.
The whole thing, from early chemo, to later chemo, to signing off on hospice, to just waiting for her to die; it's just emotionally and physically draining for everybody involved. I don't envy this poor kid or his parents, because it's really not fair for this to happen to anybody.

My cousins and I saw them on the concourse before the game and figured it was a high school band or something because there were only around a dozen of them. Nope, that was the whole band.
In the 2nd half, it got to the point that I wanted the defense to get a 3rd down stop not for actual game purposes, but only so I wouldn't hear that stupid band play that dumb 1st down song again. We kept making fun of it in the stands and imitating the puny trumpet sound.
I'm also glad U-M didn't play this on the road this year, because Rutgers plays For Whom the Bell Tolls for every single 3rd down on defense and they do this stupid hand thing. Saw it during the MSU game (MSU had a lot of 3rd downs that game) and immediately checked the schedule and had a sigh of relief in seeing that Rutgers was a home game this year. Only the PSU first down cat sound is worse.
|3 weeks 14 hours ago||Injury looked painful||
This was the play where his left hand got caught up in Laviano's helmet, which looked like a facemask at the time and the crowd audibly groaned. Wasn't a facemask, but I thought Glasgow's shoulder was dislocated or something.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||Their model needs some sanity checks||
I wouldn't publish something where
-- TCU is more likely to make the playoffs than win a conference championship
-- MSU is more likely to make the playoffs than U-M, but U-M has a better chance to win the conference
Maybe these are the "if everybody in the country except TCU/MSU loses 2 games" scenarios, but come on, that doesn't account for a 1-2% discrepency in those probabilities. Plus, show tenths of a percent for crying out loud.
|4 weeks 17 hours ago||They really don't like the 2000 A-train fumble game||
Had a friend that went to Illinois at the time, and he told me about how excited people were about the football team that year, how the stadium was packed full, how their program was on the up and up, and that single event completely destroyed everything for their entire future forever and ever. They are like Cubs fans with Bartman, it's pathetic.

2000 Illinois -- A-train fumble on the 1
2002 Washington -- who knows, probably call the Braylon fumble an incomplete pass with some process of the catch bullshit

Wow. Back when my cousin's kid was playing football, we went out and kicked PATs for the hell of it. I've never kicked a football in my life, and I made 9 out of 10. It's really not that hard.

they have general seating, and we remember what a debacle that was a couple years ago. I've read threads where it takes their students over an hour to get to their seats. Many just don't go if the weather's going to be bad

the fry portion is the smalled portion I've ever seen, though. "Handful of fries" is being generous; I think the actual number of steak fries is in the single digits. Which is comical when compared to other restaurants where you get a gigantic pile of fries.
To their credit, though, they at least have real Heinz instead of industrial Gordon Foods ketchup in a Heinz bottle

CED was a competing technology with LaserDisk/Betamax/VHS before VHS beat everybody. My aunt had quite a few CEDs (no Airplane!, though) and we watched Star Wars and Time Bandits every time we went to her house in Pennsylvania for Easter. Good times from childhood. Nothing like getting a break halfway through a movie because you had to flip the disk over.

I think the Utah/Oregon result is overblown and sort of like BYU/U-M, where things snowballed and the game got away from them. That said, Oregon has some serious issues at QB. The first knee-jerk reaction about the Oregon/MSU game was that the Oregon offense was not playing at the right tempo with the new QB, but Oregon had 82 plays on offense, which is more than average for them. I went back and watched the playoff game against FSU from last year. No comparison, really. That offense was much more in sync and the plays seemed to flow very well, one after another. It really isn't tempo, per se, but this year's offense doesn't have the same flow without Mariota.
Even then, Vernon Adams missed a wide open dude that would have won the game. MSU really hasn't shown the dominance they need to impress the committee, and I wonder if they're going to wake up and lay the smackdown on Purdue and Rutgers the next couple weeks. We all know they'll be ready on October 17th and that game will be a bloodbath.

Chemical engineering. Having a social atmosphere and making long-lasting friends is not a small thing. I never talked to any of my former classmates after I graduated (literally everybody left the state) and I'm much better friends with classmates from high school. In general, my college experience was not a positive one.
