Ross admission POSBANG
As you probably figured out from the title, I got the call recently that I was admitted to Ross off the wait list, so wooooooooo!!! Been taking care of all the formalities for the last week or so and haven't really been on the site, but I'm preeeetttty excited, you guys.
To everyone else who got in (in any round), congrats! Looking forward to an a-maize-ing experience with some amazing people. To those who are still waiting or didn't get the call this year, don't lose faith!
And to those who have been through the program, any advice would be much appreciated. I'd also love to get some recommendations on Ann Arbor. I went to UM for one year in undergrad (back in '06-07) but had to move out of state due to a family medical situation at the time, so now that I'm coming back, I want the full experience. What do I check out, where do I eat, etc.? Feel free to debate Zingerman's vs. Maize and Blue for 300 comments if you're so inclined.
Go Blue forever!
Go Blue!
Everything else will pretty much work itself out. Enjoy your 2 years there!
Congrats! I just graduated from Columbia Business School this year- it will be an amazing two years! Have fun
I'm assuming you are going full time as well. Do you have an specific questions?
Congrats BTW!

Ugh. These threads are extremely annoying. MGoBlog is not your personal platform for gloating about admission.

Definitely didn't intend to gloat -- just wanted to share my Michigan excitement with the rest of the MGoCommunity. Given the number of UM/Ross alums here, I figured there might be some good advice to be had about the school and Ann Arbor.
Pay him no mind.
I actually started a thread about applying to schools a few months back, if you search Ross on the site it should have some pertinent information about B-school experiences etc. I believe it was called "OT: Ross and other MBA programs". Some is about fellow posters' experience at Ross. It was pretty helpful to see so many responses and while it was more useful for the application process, there's some good stuff in there.
As far as living/eating in town, the "Where to Eat in Ann Arbor" thread is still pretty useful. But if you went here for a bit in undergrad you'll have a decent handle on it. Apartment searches can still be a pain.
If there was ever a post crying out for the classic "Lighten up, Francis," yours would be it.
For chrissake, the kid's happy. He got into Ross after being waitlisted, and he's excited. Hell, I'd be, too. And I read his post twice, and I didn't pick up on any gloating. You make it sound as if he was squeeling, "I got in and you didn't neener neener neener."
He's a new member of the Michigan family, and he's having a good day. Let him have it.
it's a slow period for sports, expecially NCAA.
I thought James Ross' brother was admitted to UM a few years early. Oh well.
Congrats on the B-School gig. Tough sledding ahead, but well worth it.
Q: How can you tell if someone is in Ross?
A: Don't worry, they'll tell you!
Jk, congrats OP!
... My advice is take the opportunity to enjoy yourself and make great friends. Some of the longest lasting relationships I have are with Ross alum, which is surprising. Regarding the school. It's good. Take advantage of that, too. But remember, MBA programs have a high propensity to produce douchebags who think the world is as simple as basic math and that there is a right answer and a wrong answer. It is not that simple.
I did meet a bunch of a-holes from the likes of Harvard and Stanford during job interviews, but I will tell you this, Michigan MBA grads are the most down-to-earth. Many recruiters love that about the program. Made great friends with whom I still keep in touch even though I do not live in the US. Enjoy! I remember my experience was like trying to drink water out of a fire hydrant, the school just throws so much at you, try to not miss out of too many.
Go Blue!
Congrats...but humility is a virtue. There may be people here who didn't get in. Respect their situation. That what makes the Leaders and the Best
Let the kid have his moment in the sun. We don't even know what his friggin name is!
All we know is that another MGoProspective has become an MGoStudent. That's worth celebrating!
do you know how you can tell if someone attended the university of Michigan?
- Don't worry they will tell you!
by far my favorite joke as I am a pretentious asshole wolverine graduate, and as such I support the people who share their pride in acceptance! To those who are jealous? Well, there is always michigan state.

Hard to blame the OP for his excitement.
Posting here just means that he is pumped and looking to connect with the broader UM diaspora sooner rather than later.
My advice: Get your work done on Monday-Friday so that you can go to games on Saturday.
You upvoted your own post?
Ha, actually I accidentally clicked on the downvote button and was trying to cancel it out. Alas.
Congrats! I was admitted last week off the waitlist as well. You going to be on campus next week to visit?
Unfortunately not. I live/work in Arizona and used up a good chunk of my vacation time to come up to Ann Arbor for the interview in April, so I probably won't be back until I move in August. Enjoy it, though! I'm sure it's a cool experience.
Ah, I hear ya. Well, congratulations again, it's going to be a great two years! Look forward to meeting you in the fall, we'll have to figure out how to ditch these aliases haha.
Congrats to the OP and you again.
Maybe, you both should wear a MGoBlog t-shirt to the pre-school year mixer - which I assume they still have.
Yeah, I'll have to get one. I'd call dibs on "Worst State Ever" except that there's more than likely someone from Ohio in my section and it's pretty common. Always liked the "Space, Bitches. Space" one.
Go on an M-Trek!

Congrats.
At least something is going right for someone today.
- Quit your job now and enjoy a few months of free time
- Go on an Mtrek. It's awesome!
- Attend any alumni functions in your city. They will love a future grad showing up
- Go to all of the company events, even if they are not targeted towards you. Don't be a douche and be a normal dude and they will like you
- (this one is hard) Figure what you want to do before going to B-School and then do everything to achieve that.Seriously.
- Good fuckin luck! The M MBA was the best time of my life!
- You have HARBAUGH! I'm jealous
Congrats, better man than I. Four more years of school would've bankrupted and driven me crazy.
