They will to Oregon.

Why do we go through this every bowl season? If it's Iowa or Minnesota then by all means root for the Big Ten. If it's MSU or Ohio then root hard against them because we have to recruit against them and have to deal with their fans 24/7. If it's between what's better for Michigan or what's better for the Big Ten, I choose Michigan.

Michigan already won this offseason by getting Harbaugh. Did you see the buzz we were getting? Recruits have noticed that. The Big Ten proving itself nationally will only help our cause.
January 2nd, 2015 at 12:40 AM ^
and Ohio State winning a national championship will hamper our recruiting efforts terribly especially in Ohio even with Harbaugh at least compared to what it would be if they lose. Compare this to if Bama wins. If the big ten is winning and it's not us but those two teams, recruits will just flock to them. How is that better than the SEC winning?
January 2nd, 2015 at 12:42 AM ^
I don't think Ohio will win the national championship even if they win this game, but either way I don't think your point is valid. OSU is leagues ahead of us already, them winning a national championship will not change that. It won't hurt our recruiting any more than it already has.
January 2nd, 2015 at 12:49 AM ^
OSU is gonna get theirs and we're gonna get ours. Sure we might lose a couple H2H recruiting battles but both schools have scooped up big talent simulataneously in the past. It's MSU, PSU, Wisky, Neb who should be concerned.

The rise of the SEC has meant more competition for national and regional recruits. The SEC gets pumped up endlessly and kids want to play there, It's not just Bama and Florida, but Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, etc.

Just like Florida winning killed Bama's recruiting and Bama winning killed Auburn. History says you are dead wrong.

IMO that is a fear-based approach...

That's fine. Some people cheer for what is good for themselves, others for what is good for Michigan. I choose the latter, no matter how hard it is personally.

We don't have depend on the pundits and coaches to pick a champion - it happens on the field. Face it - if it were the old system, there is no way pundits and a lot of the coaches would have picked OSU over Alabama.
Only helps us! Big Ten!

The Buckeyes already proved that you can get into the playoff even with how bad everyone thought the big ten was.

Ill agree with Meyer...that was a very hard hitting game on both sides.

I've always rooted for OSU... except when they play Michigan.
Have you forgotten how epic 1969, 1995, and 1996 were? :)

And what is good for the B1G is good for Michigan.
Any argument otherwise is fundamentally flawed.
Congrats to the two teams I hate the most...they played some fantastic football today.
And I can't wait for our program to rise up to that level of on the field ass kicking.
Go Blue.

Regardless of whether you were rooting for it or not, when was the last week that went this well for Big Ten football? Like the week it became clear that M/OSU would be 1 vs 2? But not that week, because Bo died.
