CC: Vegas odds Harbaugh to UM Was 8-1 Now 2-1

I don't know much about sports betting, but that's a huge jump. What does that tell you people who know about sports betting?

Jim Harbaugh 2015 Coaching odds suspended after a stream of bets on Michigan moved them from 8-1 to 2-1 yesterday afternoon

In a scenario where Haraugh in fact ends up in Ann Arbor, I am not sure I would want Urban Meyer to retire (again) just yet. In my mind, the Harbaugh-Meyer handshake would be as awkward as it would be epic somehow and wouldn't mind seeing if this admittedly half-assed theory of mine is correct in my lifetime.

When faced with multifacted, complex questions like this, I go to my #1 decision-making strategy.  I ask myself, "M1jjb00, what would cause the most Ohio State fans to rend their clothes and beat their breasts?"  With that, I'm fine with Urban having another gas attack.

This may be the most interesting information in regard to the coaching search that I've read in days.  Information drives those lines.  It makes me wonder if someone knows something.  At least I'm going to tell myself that.

If I go to Vegas, sure, I'll throw a bet on something like this without much thought as that bet is just entertainment for me.  But Vegas lines don't usually move big amounts because dudes like me put $50 on a bet like this.  For the pro gambler, this is how they make a living.  They don't just throw money on a prop bet because it sounds fun.  The bet has to be researched prior to being placed.

IMO, this is definitely a good sign. But with the caveat that it's a good sign on 12/6/14.  These coaching searches seem to have a lot of moving parts.  No guarantee that whatever info is out there is accurate in a few days.

This is a prop bet, I never messed with those. If a game line moved like this it'd be earth shattering.

If the book reopens at 2-1 seems like a nice number to take the against, though I'm on board jh is coming

A dark cloud of gloom and hopelessness has been hanging over my football heart since about halfway through the ND game. The sunshine is finally starting to break through the clouds, though. I actually just got a little bit excited reading this

If only Vegas odds had any correlation to something actually occurring, this would be awesome.

Now if these lines moved due to Jim himself gaming the system, then this really IS awesome.

Professionals watch the odds and the timing.  When there is a sudden shift in the odds just before the race goes off, that is the way to bet.  It is telling you that the insiders know which horse is going to win.

Interpretation: The largest alumni association and one of the largest fan bases are clinging to hope and betting heavily on Harbaugh with absolutely nothing to base their bets on except hope. The same thing happened with irrational ND fans betting heavily on ND before the NC game. It definitely didn't have anything to do with Vegas "knowing something."

While I'm a firm believer that Vegas ALWAYS knows, I think this may be the case of a lot of die hard Michigan fans who have recreational money that was worht an 8-1 buyout, thus moving it down (just to be safe).

Then again, Vegas ALWAYS knows!

Maybe if the odds moved over a few days or weeks. Overnight? There is no way that we, as an alumni/fan base, collectively came together and pushed the line this severely. This move is the result of a lot (LOT) of money that came in over a short time period, and kept coming in despite the odds crashing through the floor to the point that Vegas eventually took the bet off the board.

This may not be as rock solid as "insider info," ( sarcastic!) but this means something. Most likely something positive.

the most important piece of information to date on Harbaugh is he has NOT dispelled rumors he is taking the Michigan job. Now some my argue that by his silence he is posturing for a better deal whether with the 49'ers or some other NFL team.

MY counter argument would be he does not have to. Regardless of what happens to harbaugh with the 49'ers he will be coaching some place next year and for the most part on terms he wants. That cannot be denied.
