CC: Vegas odds Harbaugh to UM Was 8-1 Now 2-1
I don't know much about sports betting, but that's a huge jump. What does that tell you people who know about sports betting?

In a scenario where Haraugh in fact ends up in Ann Arbor, I am not sure I would want Urban Meyer to retire (again) just yet. In my mind, the Harbaugh-Meyer handshake would be as awkward as it would be epic somehow and wouldn't mind seeing if this admittedly half-assed theory of mine is correct in my lifetime.

When faced with multifacted, complex questions like this, I go to my #1 decision-making strategy. I ask myself, "M1jjb00, what would cause the most Ohio State fans to rend their clothes and beat their breasts?" With that, I'm fine with Urban having another gas attack.

I'd be more excited about Harbaugh-Dantonio confrontations. Both have volatile personalities and are very good coaches.

This may be the most interesting information in regard to the coaching search that I've read in days. Information drives those lines. It makes me wonder if someone knows something. At least I'm going to tell myself that.

Money drives those lines.

If I go to Vegas, sure, I'll throw a bet on something like this without much thought as that bet is just entertainment for me. But Vegas lines don't usually move big amounts because dudes like me put $50 on a bet like this. For the pro gambler, this is how they make a living. They don't just throw money on a prop bet because it sounds fun. The bet has to be researched prior to being placed.
IMO, this is definitely a good sign. But with the caveat that it's a good sign on 12/6/14. These coaching searches seem to have a lot of moving parts. No guarantee that whatever info is out there is accurate in a few days.

A bunch of Michigan fan's lay a little because their favorite blog on the interwebz tells them he is coming.

I just saw a tweet saying that a lot of people made the MAX bet for this. Some people must be pretty confident.

the max was $222.22

Probably means Vegas thinks either there's been an info leak or someone(s) made bets that jeapardized the validity of their odds. Either people know something, or someone is intentionally doing sketchy stuff to drive the odds down.

Even if they do lose this bet look how many degenerate college football fans they have with accounts now.

I bet Jimmy H created a few hundred accounts and max bet on himself going to michigan thats why there was such a big swing! Only explaination

Now if these lines moved due to Jim himself gaming the system, then this really IS awesome.

Vegas odds being pulled usually do have to do with something happening.
December 6th, 2014 at 2:19 PM ^
Professionals watch the odds and the timing. When there is a sudden shift in the odds just before the race goes off, that is the way to bet. It is telling you that the insiders know which horse is going to win.

That game was never taken off the books. Big difference.
December 6th, 2014 at 3:24 PM ^
Big difference, but we're also comparing apples and oranges. It is a lot more likely that someone has insider knolledge on a coaching change than for someone to rig an actual football game.

While I'm a firm believer that Vegas ALWAYS knows, I think this may be the case of a lot of die hard Michigan fans who have recreational money that was worht an 8-1 buyout, thus moving it down (just to be safe).
Then again, Vegas ALWAYS knows!
December 6th, 2014 at 2:45 PM ^
This may not be as rock solid as "insider info," ( sarcastic!) but this means something. Most likely something positive.
December 6th, 2014 at 3:01 PM ^
Takes a crap ton of money to move a line that much. Someone thinks they know somrthing.

Anybody know what Gregg Henson's net worth is?
December 6th, 2014 at 3:09 PM ^
the most important piece of information to date on Harbaugh is he has NOT dispelled rumors he is taking the Michigan job. Now some my argue that by his silence he is posturing for a better deal whether with the 49'ers or some other NFL team.
MY counter argument would be he does not have to. Regardless of what happens to harbaugh with the 49'ers he will be coaching some place next year and for the most part on terms he wants. That cannot be denied.
December 6th, 2014 at 3:33 PM ^
Not only does he not have to, but people who know Jim do not seem to think he would do that to Michigan. This leaves me to believe he must at the very least be strongly considering Michigan IF he is let go at the end of the season.
