CC: Stoops might actually be plausible?
I'm listening to the Herd on ESPN Radio and Colin Cowherd is suggesting that a current coach who is NOT being circulated on blogs is being eyed for the gig. He also says Michigan fans will like it a lot. The name he said would come out this weekend. I figure if a national person is suggesting it, it must have some validity.
Could this be Stoops?

but I only want a committed Harbaugh here. A committed Bob Stoops is probably better than a flakey Harbaugh who wishes he was still in the NFL.

a Harbaugh who wishes he was still in the NFL will still be in the NFL, so I don't worry about that too much.

If Harbaugh does choose to come he'll be committed. He'll have other opportunities in the NFL, if he isn't committed to Michigan he'll just take one of those now.

ability I'd love it. But I can't see him leaving the south for any reason. He's a Georgia lifer if they'll keep him.

The guy has top 10 recruiting classes every year and wins 9 games a year. He squib kicked when leading by 3 points. Know how many plays it took GT to get within field goal range? 1

I'd pass on Richt. He's that guy that it always seems like his teams are talked about for potential but never performance. He's also that same guy that is being questioned after poor coaching decisions/blunders that lead to big losses.

Stoops has been thrown around a lot though, so that wouldn't fit the criteria would it?

LOVE to see Hackett nail down Stoops as the newest Victor here. He's been my odds-on, dark horse candidate for the last month or so.

instead of walkin' to Ann Arbor... he'd come drivin' the Bears Bus! (But... still losing to Rick Mears, pronounced "Meer-sss".)
(You really have to go back to know that reference.)

I find it ironic, that there were previous reports that Tressel was to accept a job on saturday (Nebraska). Could it possibly just have been a mistake that it was actually Tressel for Michigan? I would hope not and hope this is not the case, but very interesting this came about.

a guy who went out with tacky-ass scandals like he did is going to get hired by Schlissel? Get real.
December 4th, 2014 at 1:36 PM ^
I was not saying I want this nor would it be good for Michigan. It doesn not fit what we are looking for. My idea was that where did all this Tressel information come from and why were there reports that is possible he accepts a job "at Nebraska" over the weekend. This obiviously was not the case with Riley being hired. Could there be more behind it with Cowherds statement and this false report from individuals talking about Tressel. Hope this is not the case.

I've heard rumors about Bud Kilmer as a possibility. Some are hung up on the fact of a clash he had with a backup QB about the direction of the offense. Kilmer preferred to be a traditional "running team." Whereas, the QB wanted to run more of a pass-heavy spread system.
There's also some alleged doping/substance abuse problems with the program he ran, too. So I don't think Kilmer should be our guy, IMO.

Stoops's name seems to come up every year at least once for a big name job. I think that ND made a run for him before they hired Kelly. It just seems to be one of those constants that people think that Okie fans are spoiled and Stoops is probably available, but then they find out he isn't.
I think that our chances of getting him are zero%.

some interest or curiosity at being at Michigan before?
Personally, I think that Stoops would be a great hire and he has beaten Saban recently and, with him being at Oklahoma, we won't have to worry about things like Stoops not understanding a big time rivalry...actually, I would prefer Stoops to Miles

Hey, Cowherd, Joe McCarthy called, he wants his schtick back!
