11-2, 8-5, 7-6, 5-7 (probably)
and we graduate our 5th yr QB this year and replace him with........
Your ceiling for next year is probably 7-5 with Hoke. If he isn't fired, I'm swearing off Michigan football till he is

My fear for Michigan is that we took a highly successful RR and had the worst run in school history with him. Then, we took Hoke who had built solid, competitive teams at two schools, and had the second worst run in school history.
Why have we become the place where good (ish) coaches go bad?

Just kidding! I actually like Hoke and wish he had been more successful at Michigan, but don't see him as a hc at a major D-1 program. I wish him the best though.

feels typecast as the dopey, clappy nice guy. I think he'll be coaching basketball. He'll be considered an innovator as he will be the first bball head coach to wear a headset. However, he won't be able to pull off a suit (too hot in the gym for him), so he will look brilliant in a tuxedo t-shirt.

He could be a HC again at a smaller program or just be a DC at a power 5 conference team, but probably not a contender. While I want him gone yesterday I wish him luck. Was disappointed when he was hired but got on board and hoped it would work out. It has not so time for a change.

Some guys are just made to be assistant coaches (Norv Turner, Dick LeBeau, Mike Munchak, Lane Kiffin & Paul Chryst maybe, etc.) and I oftentimes wonder if Hoke is just that, a position coach. Give him a small group of players, let him coach them up, love them like sons, and let someone else deal with the pressure of wins and losses. Let him deal with guys who've just been lit up by a DC or a HC when they mess up, and let him do the "coaching" on the sidelines while someone else "wears a headset" and manages the game. I wonder if Hoke will find that to be his calling and will in 4 years from now be the DL coach at Virginia Tech, or Missouri, or something like that.
Or will he determine that he is absolutely in his mind a Head Coach? If so, he'll be in the Mountain West, the MAC, Conference USA, etc. where the pressure of running a PROGRAM isn't there as much. Frank Solich is doing ok for himsel (6 wins this year, 7 last, 9 the year before, 10 the year before that) with a 72-56 record at the real *Ohio.
Either way, he's a good guy and good luck to him. But he's just not a good enough coach to be successful at a school with the demands like at Michigan.

Hoke brings Big Boy to life and is credited with reviving a stagnant but historical brand. Big Boy will rebound across the country and around the world.

back to his roots as a parole officer? or coaching up / mentoring new batches of sons as a high school football coach? i can guarantee he will not be HC anywhere above MAC-type programs - if MAC schools were desparate enough to bring him back given his qualifications, his career record as well as obvious outlier seasons 2008 and 2011.
his players seem to like him, seems like nice dude, unfortunately just an overmatched and totally lost deer in headlights at this level - hokes collected millions of dollars from um so hell be just fine, he should quietly head back to high school until his social security kicks in

Not only a good man, Hoke is a great recruiter. (Kind of reminds me of Ed Orgeron in some ways).
I think Hoke's tragic flaw is this: he loves too much, and has too much faith in those he loves around him. He trusts his assistant coaches, he trusts QBs, and never stops believing in them.
It's what makes him a great guy. One that kids want to play for, that mothers want to entrust with their sons.
He stuck with DG, and Funk and Jackson to a fault, to his pwn peril. Never threw any of them under the bus0. From all the accounts I have read he doesn't over-rule his Coordinaters, and shows them that trust by not wearing the headset. He feels his job on game days is to measure the mood of his team, and keep them on track, with whatever they had practiced uring the week. It's a model that can work- but for various reasons- has not.
Whoever coaches Michigan next year will be in excellent shape, providing they can develop a competent QB who doesn't turn the ball over and can occaisionally make plays.
