is it bad to cheer against Harbaugh in San Fran for him to miss the playoffs?

Why are you running a 3 yard route when you have 97 yards to go...

I don't get why they even play RGIII anymore. He's a turnover machine

Washington=/=good

for the two wild card spots at this point. The Lions have the easiest road, but then they are they Lions. SanFran and Seattle play twice in the next three weeks.

I'm sure Jim Harbaugh during the week is checking the twitters and mgoblog, seeing Michigan fans hoping his team loses, and going ''Those bastards! I'm not coming now!''

Nah, he gets it. He understands. Because we're so freaking awesome.

I think you over-estimate our influence on Jim Harbaugh's decision-maknig process....by a lot.

This could be another epic 49's collapse! Please!!! Let it be!
For Denard's sake! For Bo's sake! Please let SF go down in flames again, inexplicably, against a poor Redskins team!

I know this will get lost in the shuffle, but, Harbaugh will be our next coach. GarunSheed!
Stuff just seems to add up. I don't have 'inside' sources. I know a few ppl in SF and a writer or two in that area. I have a few tidbits that will come out in the next few weeks that will help clear a few things up. It's not concrete 'He is coming!' Evidence...but more, 'hmmmm, that's interesting and it makes sense' evidence.
I'd say it's like 70% happening. With the field getting the other 30%.
Neg me all you want...I'm not The Knowledge...but i guess we'll all see.

It's not my professional team and it was easy to cheer against them in the late 80s. So why change things now?

I am rooting against San Fran only to the point they just miss the playoffs. Some heartbreaking (lol) wins the past few weeks like beating NO in a game it looked like NO was going to win.
It looks like Seattle has finally exited their post SB win funk so I expect loser of AZ/SEA to get 1 wild car spot. Unfortunately you cannot rely on DET to do anything right in pro football so assuming GB wins the north, and then either PHI or DAL win the East. So its basically going to be DET v loser of PHI/DAL v SF for that last WC spot. SF is on a 3 game winning streak and DET a 2 game losing streak. SF schedule firms up from here while DETs gets easier.
So I am more rooting for PHI, DAL, DET than rooting against SF but I wouldnt mind a fluky loss here or there to give breathing room. Not that it will change "the decision" but allow for said decision to happen in first week of January one way or the other.

Thanks for the breakdown. My knowledge of the NFL postseason is pretty vague... particularly the wildcard junk.

Coaches like Harbaugh are great for college and bad for the pros. They are perfect for college because they only have players for four or five years. By the time a player really wants to hate Harbaugh, the player is a senior and is treated as a leader. Once the player is an alum, he is treated like a friend and forgets that he ever felt like hating his coach.
In the pros it manifests as "losing the locker room" after three, four or five years. In college, it wouldn't be a problem. Harbaugh's "abrasiveness" would be seen as part of his legend if he came back to his alma mater and started winning the occasional National Championship.
He just needs an AD who stays out of the way.

You guys really need to get re considering of who you going to hire as HC. Jim Harbaugh is not leaving NFL for Michigan. Now if he miss the playoff, He not getting fired by San Franscisco, Look at his Record. John Harbaugh is not leaving the NFL for Michigan. Les Miles is not leaving SEC and LSU for Michigan. Give it rest.
I bet you those three will turn down michigan offer. Then who are you going to get as head coach?
November 23rd, 2014 at 10:11 PM ^
Well i'm no prophet and can't predict who will be the new UM Coach, but damn you should be the team's new equipment manager. Just think of all the money we can shave off the AD budget by leaving out letters, all s's, and even entire words from our jerseys???
November 23rd, 2014 at 10:12 PM ^
Are you tarzan?
Me think he coach here.
San fran no make playoff.

I thought it was with ownership. Look, the #1 reason we want him is that he is a winner and he knows how to transfer that concept to others. Something we have not seen for a very long time at M. To hope for his team to lose is sort of like a really extreme case of power-braking. There are probably less couth analogies I could raise here but I am trying to clean it up after my F-fest yesterday.
I want Harbs to win everywhere he goes, including here. And, I hope SF's ownership is a big enough ASS CLOWN such that Harbs gives them the finger. If we are hoping for him to somehow be a loser, so he can come here and be a winner, we are in trouble. Hence my original point.
November 23rd, 2014 at 10:33 PM ^
You actually believe the media when they reported that. Are they beefing right now?
November 23rd, 2014 at 10:56 PM ^
We like him because he is winner. Hoping for a winner to lose is a losing proposition. The fact that this is even a semi viable topic of conversation is because he to seems to have a beef with someone or vice versa. Who cares? He needs to keep winning, and hopefully he needs to come here.

What are the odds the Bears fire Trestman? That is the one NFL job I could see Harbaugh really wanting, because he seemed to look up to Ditka almost as much as Bo.
November 24th, 2014 at 3:02 AM ^
I would prefer to see Harbaugh coach us to the top, but I really just want to see Michigan win, regardless of the coach.
