I completely agree that they have been awful at football. But rooting for them shouldn't be dependent on how good they are at football. You make it sound like you want them to continue to be awful because they currently are, instead you should root for them to be better at football because the rest of the team is full of fine individuals who do an excellent job of representing the university off the field. Sure, Frank doesn't desereve our support anymore, but the rest of the players do.

And Jake Ryan playing 100% every play. And Drake Johnson and Darboh coming back from their injuries. And Jourdan Lewis's huge strides. Let's not let the coaching staff or some players' off-field issues make us forget our team has dozens of players who do the right thing and are trying their best on and off the field.

2-3 games before he finishes at UM and is preparing to cash in..and then THIS. Sad, sad situation.

Before the season started FC was one of the most interviewed guys..he talked like a leader and from here I wondered why he wasn't a captain...Now this and well thank goodness he wasn't made a captain.

Maybe Brady knew the team was void of leaders when he withheld the 'C's

This will be the ending of our season, in my opinion. Forget my prediction in the Maryland thread.. i do not think michigan will win another game here on out, i believe this will cause the players to quit. I'm sorry, but nothing positive comes out of this

From August MLive article:

"Clark dreams, more than anything, that his mother will see him play this season; says it would be “the best thing ever” if she’s on hand for Senior Day."

That's sad.

Like many around here, I hope Clark can turn it around.  But based on the subsequent reports, it seems like dismissing him from the football program was the obvious decision.  Good for Hoke that he made the decision promptly.

In conclusion, 2014 - uggghhh.

Some people are lucky enough to have all the physical talent in the world, but if you don't have it between the ears, it can all be squandered away. Apparently he didn't learn from his previous mistakes. Frank needs professional help and I hope he gets it.

I hope Clark can pull it together and make it somehow.  He was one of the few bright spots on the team, and now even that small joy has been taken away.

I have said since day 1 that the fact that Hoke chose no captains this year was an indicator of a vacuum of player leadership.  This is just further evidence of that fact.  Not every senior can be a team leader, but it would be nice if there was at least one on this team.  Another sad day for the program.

That was the right choice. Hopefully Clark can get his head on straight. Although football should be the last thing on his mind right now, he likely just cost himself a LOT of money in the NFL. He went from possibly being a mid-round prospect to now likely being lucky to just get drafted.

With domestic violence being such a prevalent issue in the NFL right now, I can't imagine this would go over very well with NFL scouts or GMs.

On a broader note, there's just very little to cheer for with this team. Anything that can go wrong seems to go horribly wrong.

What a jackass. Just when his play on the field was starting to live up to the hype. Nearly finished at Michigan. Rising up draft boards. And he lays his hands on a woman. That's about the worst turnaround you could make.

Congrats to the coaching staff for acting decisively and for punishing Clark for terrible behavior. I do hope that eventually he makes amends and is able to get his life together. I hope the rest of the team is taking notes and realizes behaving in this manner can have dire consequences.

As others have said this is sad for everybody especially the victim(s) and hope that everyone involved is able to start healing

is the amount of domestic violence cases that we are seeing these days. I would have hoped that this would be similar to the Donald Sterling situation where the NBA took a hard stance. The NFL had a chance to do the same thing with thier players, and botched it. None of these guys should have gotten a second chance if they were convicted or there was actual evidence that it happened. While I'm sure the severity of domestic violence has always existed, there has been more negative publicity about it this year than ever before.

Hopefully these sad situations can be turned into raising awareness and getting firm policies in place in professional leagues and society. Zero tollerance, period!

While I don't disagree with you the NFL has botched the chance to take a hard stance with their players, I also don't think there has been more domestic abuse now than there has been before. It's just our access to media has increased so much that it feels like we're dealing with a different case everyday. I also think that since information is so accessible it makes it harder to sweep these cases under the rug like we've seen in the past.

Totally agree with you regarding players not being able to get a second chance.

There are few things i want to know about this whole situation with frank and this girlfriend      1) was this girl whom frank was apparently living with actually pregnant or did he just say that when his adrenaline was pumping and didnt really mean it 2) what started the whole fight, like were the two of them arguing about something and he went off and did unspeakable things to her or did he just snap and go about inexcusibly laying his hands on a women 3)why were they in a hotel room with her entire family present anyway, were they staying there en route to something or is that were frank and his live in girlfriend were living when he wasnt on campus.                                                                                                                              I dont condone anything he did and never will but there is always more to the story than what meets the eye. it doesnt give him any excuse to ever lay his hands on a women but us people out here who are michigan fans and want nothing more than to see michigan do well and be held to a high standard have no reason to pass judgement on someone and their actions who we dont know outside of the guy who strapped on the pads on put on the winged helmet every weekend. Yeah we may read about his past but thats sugar coated to make for a sob story and pull at our heart strings to feel for the guy. So dont look down on someone without thinking back to your bad choices and thinking that if you had thousands of people looking down on you for what you did would you still feel the same about htat choice as you did previously.

Hoke made the call he had to make and the important thing is the effect on the people directly involved.  However,  it does make me wonder how the team will respond to it.  Given the struggles of the year, this has probably got to be a bit more demoralizing than the typical disciplinary action.

I think you're selling the team short. If there's anything demoralizing here it's Clark's actions, not the resulting disciplinary action. I'm guessing if you polled them you'd find that a pretty substantial majority of the team understands that Clark crossed a line and Hoke had no other option.
