OT: ND Wide Receiver Dating Pornstar
So I logged into my Facebook and the first thing I see that's trending is this:
http://uniladmag.com/articles/18-year-old-football-prospect-dates-44-ye…
It would appear freshman Notre Dame wide receiver Justin Brent is dating the pornstar Lisa Ann... Seems very Notre Dame of him. For a school that adheres to respectable values (not that this is really that egregious), seems to have a lot happening recently - Golston suspension, academic scandal, etc.
Edit: I'm not a making a judgment one way or another - I personally don't think it's a big deal at all (life is life, am I right? People should do whatever they want as long as it doesn't harm others). Simply providing this information and pointing out that this is another event in a long line of PR / perception disasters for ND, a "moral, Christian" school.

ugh. Lisa Ann has been in the biz for over 20 years and has probably "been with" 10.000 guys. She has gotta have at least Hepatitis A to Z. I'd personally pass on that.

I mean haha porn jokes and all, but the "Sex workers are riddled with diseases" meme is kind of shitty and totally false.
People in porn are subjected to regular screenings for STD's and are pretty damn careful about the sex they have outside of the work place, as one screw up could mean the end of a career.

OMG, a grown woman finds 6'4" muscular athletes with world class stamina sexually attractive. What a ho! She should stay home and knit sweaters instead of fucking living the dream.

Very true, though they are both very shitty things to do. It is, however, your right to be a jerk.

Who did I "shame"? Give me a fucking break. I have no judgement other than my opinon that Id never Fk her even if i were a ND freshman recruit. This is an opinion message board. Read in to shit much??
October 24th, 2014 at 7:06 AM ^
> Read in to shit much??
Only when you make a stupid ass judgment about someone you don't know to say that they must have a disease because of their work.
Would you make the same joke about a doctor who treated Ebola patients?
October 24th, 2014 at 7:32 AM ^
Did you just compare ebola health care workers to porn stars? I get it, you love your porn and all, but it may be about time you cut your internet connection.

Thanks for making my point for me!
October 24th, 2014 at 9:49 AM ^
for most high profile porn stars like lisa ann, do they have any other way to make good money? and if you watch adult films you notice that most of the time, condoms are not used. so when porn stars come down with a b grade infection like VD do you think they'll just stop making a living? point being, if any subset of society is compelled to risk transmitting sexual diseases, you'd imagine it would be the subset that is compelled to engage in sex with many strangers frequently, for a living. smoke/fire kind of thing, and no bs about how they're all tested/regulated alleviates the concern because, see above. even if they come up positive, they'll still want to continue making their living. some might take the high road, but all of them? no way.
October 24th, 2014 at 3:32 PM ^
is somehow insensitive and out of bounds? Really? Ok holier than thou dude.

October 30th, 2014 at 3:17 PM ^
Mine is that if you have sex with 12 men at a time for money, that your life choice is well worth making fun of, and not pretending that it is somehow equal in ethics and morality to almost every other job in the world. I have way more respect for a hooker on the street, who I feel sorry for, than Lisa Ann. who deserves no respect whatsoever IMO. Now if she was here in front of me I'd be be courteous and polite and would not make fun, because that's just good behavior. But her choice IS inferior to the choice of 99.9% of every other job choice in the world.
October 24th, 2014 at 6:24 AM ^
but would you want your daughter to be a pornstar?
And if you are feminist/humanist what can you think of woman who make money performing sex acts and degraded in a thousand ways on film?
We are guys. Most of us have viewed porn, went to strip clubs, etc. But we rarely consider the psychological damage of behavior like this. Many of these people--strippers and pornstars--are drug addicts, alcoholics, and involved in abusive relationships. Many of them also wished to be something other than what they are when they were teens. Unforunate life choices and/or personal experiences have put them into a position to have to sell their body to make money.
I think the defense of sex industry workers is misplaced. You should strive to make such an industry no longer viable. Porn(and stripping) takes a terrible toll on the workers.

> We are guys. Most of us have viewed porn, went to strip clubs, etc. but we rarely consider the psychological damage of behavior like this.
So men don't consider the psychological damage that men create by being the market for this service? Not to mention it's a market where the supply (somehow) has managed to be controlled by men, too.
I think your post is actually a plea for why we shouldn't shame/make fun of sex workers. And instead perhaps we should fight for stricter regulation on sex work in order to protect women.
One reality: Porn et al. have always existed and will always exist. Period. But sex/other abuse in sex work is needless.
I mean, your argument is silly. You basically said "I have so much sympathy for women in porn cause their lives are so sad so why are you defending them?? Kill sex work as an industry!" You know, many sex workers are not drug addicted or unhappy. But I guess that reality is too human for you to recognize? I dunno. Your post seemed pretty weird and internally conflicted.
October 24th, 2014 at 7:33 PM ^
We have no room for nuance here, space is limited.
October 24th, 2014 at 7:33 AM ^
Um, there are definitely sex-positive feminists who don't think sex work is inherently bad and advocate for safety rather than abolishment of sex work. (LINK to the Wikipedia, but a quick google search for "feminism sex work" would do the trick.) This is not to say that the porn industry doesn't exploit a lot of vulnerable people, but there are definitely perspectives that you seem to be unaware of.
And striving to make the sex industry "no longer viable" isn't really realistic. It's not called "the oldest profession" for nothing.

The above description fits people in all industries. Take police officers for example. I know a law enforcement officer with a university of Michigan degree who wanted to be a lawyer but after a history of substance abuse is now in one abusive relationship after another. We should get rid of law enforcement to save all the cops with personal lives like this.

So when people engage in a difficult trade because they likely lack other, better options, you would help them by giving them fewer options?

Didn't Mr. Marcus go to jail last year for knowingly infecting a bunch of ladies (and in turn, dudes)?
Shameful.
If you're going to put Mr. in front of your name, you should be a gentleman.

You might be surprised how prevelent herpes and HPV are in the general population.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:55 AM ^
So true, and thus why it's laughable to have people defend the cleanliness of porn stars. It's a dirty business.
October 24th, 2014 at 7:31 AM ^
But there are directors who will put them back in the film if they didn't get the message about their STD. When that happens the producer has to put out a 1AM message to help clear up the situation and then has to change the STD protocols. Creates a mess.
October 24th, 2014 at 6:55 AM ^
Or not.
"A recent study of Chlamydia and gonorrhea infection and re-infection rates for adult film industry performers from 2004-2008 revealed startling findings regarding the high rates of sexually-transmitted diseases (STDs) in the adult film industry, said AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) today. Among the findings: Chlamydia incidence in adult film performers was 8.5 times higher than the rate in Los Angeles County residents aged 18-29 and 34 times higher than in the general population. Gonorrhea incidence was 18 times higher in porn performers than Los Angeles County residents aged 18-29 and 64 times higher than in the general population"

do they not sell condums in LA? WTF is the problem with them that they have almost as high incidents of STD's as the adult film stars when the rest of the population has about a thhird as much?
October 24th, 2014 at 1:53 PM ^
think that most of the porn stars and the "aspiring" ones live there, so it is kind of one in the same.
October 24th, 2014 at 7:36 PM ^
The age group specified also plays a large part of that disparity. The number given was for 18-29 year olds.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:13 AM ^
Yeah, I mean like sex workers should not be discriminated against, etc. They should not face outward and personal public scorn from the masses. I can get with that, and it is probably fair that most "high end" porn stars undergo regularly testing for STDs, but, they are porn workers. They do engage in sometimes comical sexual activity for money, they essentially abandon any moral or religous code that anybody has ever had, and they participate in an industry that preys on poor, many times addicted girls who are desperate for money. I mean, yeah, I am not going to hate on porn stars but come on, a fiercely "pro-porn" stance? Do you also hold a strong "pro-prostitution" stance? This is like inverted policital correctness.

I'm not a making a judgment one way or another
You made a judgement when you posted this thread.
October 24th, 2014 at 3:51 PM ^
Some judge that a porn star job is no different morally or ethically than any other. Others laugh at that and say it is wrong for any numbher of reasons, and worthy of ridicule. Both are legitimate POV's. What's not legitimate is to deny them any opportunities in life, etc etc.
October 24th, 2014 at 10:19 AM ^
I wish I had more downvotes for this. It's not cool to shame women in the porn industry, especially considering that many of us on the board are probably a part of the market for the industry.
October 24th, 2014 at 3:54 PM ^
Please articulate why we can't joke about a porn star that's 44 dating a college kid. I'd like to know why that is morally obectionable. Because if Lisa Ann reads it her feelings might be hurt?
It's not cool to be mean to people. But there is a big difference beetween that and laughing at something like this situation. Anyone is fair game to be laughed at, myself included.
October 23rd, 2014 at 10:54 PM ^
Hahahahaha. The age difference gets to me more than her being a pornstar. To each his own. But damn that age difference, I wonder how this possibly was set up...
Didn't she make the headlines for going on a date with that Okie State student?
October 23rd, 2014 at 11:40 PM ^
This isn't fucking caveman times where people need to make babies to keep the species alive. Lisa Ann is three years younger than Jennifer Aniston and eight years younger than Sandra Bullock. I have no idea how old you are, but if I was back in South Quad I would not turn down a date with either of them. And those two haven't proven their skills all over the internet like this lovely lady has.
Are you saying that me wanting to have sex with Kate Upton is okay because I'm only 32 but somehow becomes creepy when I'm 52? Because I'm pretty sure I'll still be willing to make that happen. And if she checks the WD email thread here she'll be into it too.
October 23rd, 2014 at 11:59 PM ^
Must be some white knights on the downvote button tonight.
October 24th, 2014 at 1:21 AM ^
"White Knights" is a stupid bullshit term made up by anti-feminists who don't see how male feminsts could possibly exist so it must be a ploy to get laid.
Stop using it.
October 24th, 2014 at 2:33 AM ^
It's like I'm talking to the looking glass version of myself who internalized everything he was told with 100% fidelity.
October 24th, 2014 at 9:16 AM ^
You're absolutely right about the term "White Knights," but what that poster was saying above was about as far from a feminist statement as you could be while still being confused for one (by someone who uses the term "whte knight").
October 24th, 2014 at 12:26 AM ^
Relax buddy. I was just laughing b/c the situation is so random. No I don't care about age differences regarding people and marriage except the obvious sugar daddys, mommas etc.
It's just funny to me that a 40 something pornstar is dating an 18 year old college WR. I just wonder how that scenario comes about. Take a hit of ganja and calm down.
If ND wins the national title, free bjs for the whole team?
