Lane Kiffin for Next Michigan HC

Submitted by Space Coyote on

I know I said I wasn't going to talk coaching changes at Michigan, but then it struck me.

People keep bringing up names like Nussmeier or Butch Jones from Tennessee. People say we need to find our Nick Saban or Pete Carroll from his USC days. I combined those thoughts together when it dawned on me.

Facts: Lane Kiffin is the perfect candidate for the Michigan Head Coaching position.

  • He is a former head coach both in the NFL and at major college football programs (Tennessee and USC)
  • He currently owns a 62.5% winning record, which can surely only improve at Michigan
  • He's been a position coach at OL, WR, TE, and QB, and has been an OC.
  • His offense is similar to the offense brought in by Nussmeier, so no brand new system needs to be learned immediately
  • But he's an upgrade over Nussmeier, because he took Nussmeier's job.
  • He is a Nick Saban disciple, the most successful coach in college football.
  • He was a dynamic recruiter at his previous stops
  • He has connections to Southern California and Florida, recruiting hot beds. On top of that, he has connections within the B1G footprint in Minnesota and Nebraska.
  • He's the son of a former great NFL DC. He could be brought on to implement a zone blitz heavy defense similar to the one brought in by Mattison that can teach players what they need to learn to make it to the NFL
  • His brother is the current DL coach at Ole Miss. He can install that SEC speed.
  • He's only 39 years old. He could run this program for 25 years, build a great coaching tree, and have Michigan at elite status for several decades.

Lane Kiffin for the next head coach of Michigan!

EDIT: This has been up long enough now. This was satire, fighting the insanity of this blog with maximum insanity. "In a mad world, only the mad are sane." So this doesn't totally come back to bite me in the ass later when someone links this and says "YOU HAVE NO CREDIBILITY, YOU WANTED KIFFIN TO BE THE MICHIGAN COACH" (which, no), for those on phone apps that can't see the tags or those that don't look at the tags below:

I think Dollar Dave can re-brand him such that every will THINK he's a Michigan man.

Incidentally, am re-reading Three and Out. And the fact that a) Carr is from Tennessee (more deep south) than RR, b) Yost grew up just miles from RR and they went to the same HS, C) we had a long line of coaches who innovated and completely changed the character of the sport (including Yost, who came up with a way to beat the most all-time manball team of all, ARMY, by introducing the quaint custom of subbing in personnel, and D) that Don Nehlen, RR's guru, was a Bo disciple

really leads me to ask WTF when it comes to this Michigan Man horseshit. I mean, we had the guy who invented the way most teams now play the game, 4-0 now at AZ! Why didn't anyone call BS on that stuff, tell those dumba** former players to take a hike! Where were you people who knew better??? I am pointing at some of you!!!

The only problem with RR is that Dollar Dave didn't get him a D coordinator. THIS is the biggest crime--among many crimes--of the Dollar Dave era.

Okay, RR's taste in music is really really bad--I'll admit it.

That means that there are 43 people who are DILUSIONAL! Lane Kiffin would be the worst hire ever. Remember Tennessee? How'd he do at USC? OMG he did such an amazing job that he took a DEMOTION! Hell....freaking....no!

1.  The fact that you reacted and commented before even reading the whole post (more than once, I may add), or

2.  The fact that you didn't realize it was a poster like SC and immediately realize that it was satire.

I'm at work, not sitting at home on a tuesday with my hands down my pants. So i dont have time to read every post before I post.

Not sure what is scarier, the fact that you read every single post in a thread before you post or the fact that you have enough time to do so (indicating that you must not be contributing much to society)

And who the fuck puts that much time into a sarcastic post...he must have a lot of time on his hands as well...unlike most of us...

Ok, back to work....

are you accusing me of sitting in my parent's basement or something?  Why don't you go post on the ESPiN boards or something, that type of comment is more their speed.

And btw, SC does put that much work into a sarcastic post.  Its why we like him.  And there's lots of folks who read this stuff, spend a lot of time here.  Its why we love MGoBlog.

So, I probably don't expect a response to this, seeing as you're so busy at work and all.  But go ahead and have the last word if you want to.  I won't stop ya.

Jim Harbaugh is the type of guy who can get a woman pregnant without taking off his pants. That's the type of man I want coaching Michigan.

I'm going to just assume that this was missing the /s and is just being used to rouse the board up. If not this is probably one of the stupidest fucking things I've ever heard on this board.

Kiffin IMO doesnt represent what Michigan is about!!!  Michigan needs a smart, competitive, upstanding man of high integrity as coach - please dont drop the standards again.  I'd pursue Tuberville or Shanahan as a mentor for Nuss as my next move.  Allow Nuss the opportunity to develop into/earn the job in 2-3 years as OC and under the mentorship of a Tuberville or Shanahan.  I also think we need a small group/staff within the athetic department that focuses on football strategy/national best practices and coaching succession.  We need to run the coaching selection and development just like a develop talent from within corporation that dig deep looking for College/Pro football best practices.

Its late - I've had a bunch of red wine so I am wondering about what will happen in the last two games of the 2014 football season.  Will our team 135 dry up like a Raisin in the Sun or will our former 3, 4 and 5 star recruits realize therir potential and get better with time like a full bodied cabernet and finish 7-5?

At this point, it's all about pride - heart - nothing but what's inside each of these guys - player and coaches!!!  I don't question that these guys work hard in practice - but we arent talking about practice - we are talking about the game!!!  Whether you are wearing #1, 2, 21, 98 or coach - we fans need/want to see execution - catch, block, run routes, press D, call plays, protect the ball, create turnovers, etc!!!

So we start with the Terps (= Fear the Turtle) ...if we play Michigan football (not like is currently being demonstrated but what Marcus Ray talks about) - then we should beat the snot out of the Terps.  If we play like we are scared or dont give a crap - then we will get blown out at home like Utah and Minnesota came to our BIG HOUSE and took our lunch money.  Same applies to game 2 -  the team down South (Directions: South til you smell it, east til you step in it - F*?K OHIO!!!)

It's also about the plays that get called in both games.   We have got to alter most of the current play book especially offensively (It's too predicatalbe) and dip into the Alabama playbook - dink and dunk;  the Baylor or TCU playbook - play fast - and damn it focus on protecting the ball!!!  At the end of the day it going to fall mainly on the Defense in both games - as long as the O can win the turnover battle and the time of possession we have a great chance,

So we have a bye week - I pretty sure that nobody will read my drucken tirade - especially the coaches and players as they all know best.  But just know I will be watching each play of the next two games...cheering with all my heart....yelling at the TV if someone screws up because ....I love my school, my team and believe that team 135 is better than they shown so far - the best is yet to come and I believe.... I'm just sayin....Maize Rage.....Go Blue!!!
