Slightly Official- ND 5 are Out
Comparisons:
Davaris Daniels- Devin Funchess
By far their best returning receiver.
Ishaq Williams- Frank Clark
Flashes of brilliance but has yet to put it together.
KeiVarae Russel- Ray Taylor/Blake Countess
Their best returning corner and first round talent.
These are big losses no matter how they sell it. If we don't put up 35 on them tomorrow, It'll be an act of God.
Go Blue!

"I really hope we execute Notre Dame tomorrow."
Fixed it.

I second that emotion. I am also in favor of executing Notre Dame.

Reporter: "Coach how do feel about your teams execution?"
Coach John McKay:"I'm in favor of it."

Agree. Young D-line, undersized linebackers, two unproven safeties, and missing their top CB...
As they chant in Manchester, attack attack attack.

Anyone have a Brian Kelly color chart handy for when he found out about this foot dragging by the administration?
September 5th, 2014 at 7:02 PM ^
I had no idea that Russel was projected to the first round. I guess I might have underestimated him.
September 5th, 2014 at 7:26 PM ^
IMO Russell would be their biggest loss since he's their best shot at managing Funchess in single coverage. Without Russell they absolutely have to double up on Funchess, and the two they have to do it are <6 feet. So Funchess could still have a big day, and the rest of our receivers could too.
September 6th, 2014 at 1:49 AM ^
if (and when) they have to double Funchess, that could open up Chesson for some big plays. However, I think that actually may open up some nice quick yards for Fleet and Canteen if we can get a safety going to the sidelines with his initial step.

You know how people always say things like, "I hope those guys play. I want to be them at 100% so there are no excuses."
Bullshit. I'll never root for someone to get injured, but damnit if something like this increases our chances of winning, I'm not going to say I'm upset about it

Yeah, now that you mention it, ND is gonna be starting some weird guys tomorrow.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:25 PM ^
Braxton being out sucks because he was injured, which isn't something I want to see. Notre Dame having a bunch of goobers who couldn't finish their assignments, or who couldn't keep the people who finished their assignments under the radar, is the type of self-inflicted wounds I'm fine seeing.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:05 PM ^
Agreed. Depth is a part of football. injuries, suspensions and other kinds of absences are all part of the game, and a big part of putting together a great football team is having enough quality depth to overcome them when they happen. This has happened to us on numerous occasions, and I promise out opponents didn't feel bad about beating us shorthanded.
September 5th, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
Yup, don't care if ND has to start all walk-ons. A W is still a W in my book

12 levels over Kelly's pay grade is Warren Buffett.
He says: "The hell with Notre Dame".
September 5th, 2014 at 8:06 PM ^
Does he? Because that would be cool. We know for sure that Charlie Munger does, and if Buffett is 12 levels above Kelly, Munger is 11.

Man, this has been a pretty hamfisted handling of the situation by ND. The investigation was concluded last week and Monday, it sounded like they were going to rule one way or the other but 4 days without a peep. The ND fans are PISSED, and I actually don't really blame them.

He played in their BB game on December 21 and was dismissed from school the next day. His case sounded very similar, an academic matter involving a poor decision. Perhaps the difference was that he simply admitted responsibility.
There is plenty to dislike about Notre Dame, but I'll give them credit for caring about their athletes getting an education.
