2016 QB Messiah deWeaver offered by Michigan
I'm not saying to buckle up but 5 Crystal Ball predictions on 247 sports have been entered for Michigan since noon.
He received the offer at Michigan's camp today.
He is a 4star on 247 Sports. Ranked the #9 pro style quarterback and #13 composite.
we need a Messiah.
Hoping I don't have to wait til 2016 for His arrival.
Wait, wouldn't the Messiah be Ron Powlus? I'm confused.
Doesn't Shane "Jesus" Morris have the Michigan messiah angle covered?
/Sparty Resentment'd
Nope, he's the second coming, after Jesus Forcier.
/Valenti'd
but if he looks up over his head, he may find it.
I hope we can get a Handel on this recruit.
nice
What a great name for a goalie.
Thank God!
that the Messiah was a carpenter.
It means leader
You're not this judge are you?

I guess some people are OK with people having child accieve less than a massiah would.
they have different life experiences and cultural reference points than you? I noticed tons of guys named Jesus when I moved to LA.
Well, those with that name have lives are easier than ours because no one fucks with the Jesus.
His name is awesome.
Messiah deWeaver? That's better than Repuda deBeauta (the chick with the long hair). We need him!
Too much focus on his first name. Not enough emphasis on the possibilities off of this
LOVED Gary Wright - nice callback. FYI - sat front row for a concert at my Soph year with Gary Wright playing warm up for Foreigner.
my 10th grade year I went to see him open for Peter Frampton...I thought he was better...but ummm, that was when "Frampton Comes ALive" came out and Frampton blew him away crowd wise....
at my H.S. graduation party in 1977. Still have it in my collection.
Thanks for the fucking ear worm, Coyote. I'll be hearing tinkly sythesizers for the next twelve hours now.
DeWeaver's Hudl highlights are - HERE - if anyone is interested.
From the highlights they use, he looks rather good - DeWeaver can definitely go for distance, if you will, when the time calls for a long throw and he looks pretty accurate to boot.
As a word of warning, the highlight reel is on the long side, so unless you can leave it running while you do other things like I can here, it might be better home viewing.
I only watched part of the video, but he does look impressive in a lot of those throws. It also seems that he has some decent wide receivers as well.
He could be the savior of the program.
But first they offered a prophet:
#Michigan has offered 2016 Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy RB Elijah Holyfield

Mark Snyder over at the Freep just wrote about this offer. Click if you dare: http://www.freep.com/article/20140618/SPORTS06/306180133/elijah-holyfield-michigan-football
With that pic in your profile I invite you to post more...

Also covered by MLive: Michigan offers RB Elijah Holyfield, son of boxer Evander Holyfield
Also worth noting:
Months ago, Holyfield told us #Michigan and #Georgia would be tough to beat if they offered: http://t.co/6lMYeVqS2n

Lorenz says he grew up a fan of both U-M and Georgia; the latter would probably have the edge if they offer.
Did make me think of the song Dreamweaver.
Elijah makes me think of an even better song, War Pigs by Black Sabbath!
Do you think he throws a good "Hail Mary" pass??

Comes from the same high school as Roundtree, Michael Shaw, Brandon Moore, and now Reon Dawson. And being from that area, I can tell you that Trotwood kids can play some ball. Obviously a good pipeline to pull from.
I wouldn't be upset if some of those receivers on deWeaver's highlight film got an offer as well. They looked pretty decent.
Seems very much in the mold of a Borges-type QB (similar to Speight), but wasn't expecting Nuss to offer him this early, so this feels more like a staff-wide offer and potentially gets a QB early in the class, which is nice for recruiting purposes.
As a player, he's an interesting prospect. He doesn't really have a naturally strong arm, and you see that with how he throws outs and bench routes. But he does get really good rotation on the ball, and the ball cuts through the air better than it does for most QBs, and drops down well on his deep ball. But with the way he kind of pushes the ball from his shoulder and probably throws with the ball a little too flat (tough to tell on the tape, but the trajectory and push lead me to this conclusion), the ball acts a bit like a split-finger fastball, in that it kind of drifts down and back to the throwing hand (in this case right). In this way, despite his good ball rotation and having the ball really split through the air, he's also constantly fighting his arm to get the ball to it's target (when he loads up and goes deep, he gets the front tip of the ball up and he doesn't have to fight it as much), and this could lead to some intermediate accuracy issues, especially if he's pressured. His throws on out routes don't really have that pop because they kind of loop. He's capable of making the throw without lofting it, but it's a minor concern as well.
Seems like an accurate passer, nice deep ball, drops the ball down nice. In those ways similar to Speight. Still fights his natural arm (note difference between arm strength and throwing strength) with mechanics, and that can be the cause for some concern when pressured. Overall, a good prospect that would be a good pick up (again, in the mold of Speight), but I do think there is a gap between him and the other 2016 offered QBs.
I know there has been some discussion that we could be light at the position due to the year we didn't take a quarterback and possible attrition in 2015.
I think they look to take one QB a class from here on out. By 2016 they should have at least three on campus. deWeaver would be a forth. You'd probably like one more than that, but it's not a necessity and unless it is, it's probably not optimal to take multiple QBs in a class. Though if one of the other top targets were interested, they would be hard to turn away.
Are you suggesting the return of Tacopants?
So no, not Tacopants, but rather Tacopants's imaginary 2'6" sister Tacoskirt.
son of Evander ... yes, THAT Evander. played on my sons youth football team for two seasons at the age of 11/12 and has blown up into a man in HS. shows the instincts, power and speed to not only survive in the B1G, but to excel. M is a little late on him, but i will point out that he was going to Wiscy and then Ohio camps and then decided to hit the M camp in between and got the offer.
