BTT Seed Generator
I don't think this has been posted yet, but Dylan from umhoops retweeted a link that someone put together that generates the BTT bracket based on upcoming results. I played around with it a bit and I haven't been able to find a scenario where Indiana isn't in the 8-9 game, so we could well be looking at back to back games with them. My other conclusion is that MSU beating OSU is in UM's best interest as that will get MSU, OSU, and Wisconsin all on the other side of the bracket.

EDIT: It does break ties. The web interface leaves a little to be desired though.
I am fairly certian I can guess the #1 seed without using the generator.
Have OSU on our side of the Bracket and Iowa on the other.
1 Mich
2 MSU/WI
3 MSU/WI
4 NEB
5 OSU
6 IOWA
Now that is a good bracket.
Just posted this right after you.
If Sparty and Nebraska win then MSU gets the #2, Wisconsin gets the #3 and Nebraska is with us at the #4.
THAT is what I'm rooting for. I don't want OSU OR IOWA.
I realize Iowa would be a #5 and still on our side, but they'd be playing on the first day and would have to win 2 games to see us assuming we won our 1st game.
if I saw this two weeks ago cause it would have been fun to play around with results. Only 1 game left now for all teams. If the favorites win out then we will get the winner of Indiana and NW and the 4,5,12 in order are Iowa, OSU, and PSU. PSU vs OSU (PSU 3 wins vs OSU in one season?) will be fun to watch. I dont know whether to feel good or bad about Iowa and then there is most likely Wisconsin in the Finals, if we advance.
They play each other tonight in East Lansing, Iowa then hosts Illinois on Saturday and MSU travels to OSU on Sunday.
still not many games left, all the seeds are pretty much locked in.
Iowa is the team I want to see on the other side in the #6 seed. I think Michigan matches up really well with OSU.
Wish Iowa would make it's way down to the other side of the bracket. Teams that can potentially score with us scare me the most for this year's team. Would rather play defensive teams over offensive teams.
an Iowa State fan make a B1G Tourney bracket generator? I need a cornea transplant.
As someone said, this would have been much cooler to play around with when there were more potential outcomes, but at this point, a fair number of the seeds are pretty much a lock or nearly so depending on other games, I would think. The one scenario that I was able to find which would not create the need for a tiebreaker was if Iowa wins out, Northwestern loses out, MSU splits and Minnesota, Wisconsin, Purdue and Michigan all win their final game.
Agree fully with everyone that I'd rather play OSU than Iowa in that Iowa has the potential to have excellent games.
But also, tell me which team would be more fun to kick out of the tournament? That would be Ohio.
Let us feast on decaying corpse of the Buckeyes.
Said 'what?'

we will win the Big Ten tournament. I also don't think that is such a bad thing. However, if we won the Big Ten regular season title and the tourney title, the NCAA tourney would really be with house money. I mean, how much room do we have for banners anyway?
Not sure the NCAA is ever really "house money." For instance, as much as I loved the 2012 regular season, that first-round loss always gives that season a somewhat bittersweet memory.
Gotta make the Sweet 16. After that I'm OK if we lose, but a loss in that first weekend stings.
BTT doesn't bother me much this year unless injuries occur. Our seeding is pretty much locked in, either 3 or bump up to 2. Just don't have injuries plz.
Like the OP said, there really isn't a scenario where Indiana avoids the 8-9 seed.
I want to see us win every game we play. Period.
let me get this straight:
you want us to lose because it is unlikely that we will win 14 games in a row?
That is fucking stupid.
love,
jdon
People misunderstand the nature of statistics. Winning the Big 10 tournament doesn't make us mathematically less likely to win games in the NCAA's, and losing in the BTT doesn't somehow reset karma in such a way that we're now more likely to win more March madness games. This is the kind of fuzzy math that gets gamblers into trouble.
If you want to make arguments about fatigue from playing too many games in a short period of time, that's one thing (although Louisville did it last year and before that UConn did it after winning the Big East tournament without a bye.) But math is numbers, not magic. If we win the Big 10 tournament and then drop a second round NCAA game, it isn't because we were "due."
If MSU loses at Ohio, and neb and iowa win out, the latter two teams tie MSU for the #3-5 seeds. MSU would be #5, because it loses the tie-break (due to a poorer overall record among the tied teams). Oh still would not make the tie with the others and would be stuck at #6. So, Oh (#6) and MSU (#5) would not have a bye, and teams that have to play that extra round one game usually are too tired to win in the later rounds.
So, tonight, we should be big iowa fans (at MSU). Acc to Sagarin, MSU should be a 2pt fav vs Iowa (the fact that Iowa is ranked higher than MSU is trumped by MSU's home court, although we all saw how little that meant vs Ill).
But if Iowa can prevail tonite, this weekend will be exciting. We would only need the home team to win in three games. Iowa has an easy home contest vs Ill. Also, we would need Oh to win vs. MSU and Neb to win vs Wisc. This last game is the weakest link, where Wisc should be favored by 4 acc to Sagarin.
I'm still confused with all this info.
Do I want Iowa to beat MSU (in general, that would be a Hell Yes). But I'd also like Iowa in the side fo the bracket. For that, who do we want to win?
Thanks.
I think the best case scenario for us is for Iowa to lose to Illinois. Although unlikely to happen, it would leave Iowa, MSU and Wisc to battle it out in the bottom half of the bracket.
Next best scenario is Wisc losing to Nebraska, which would take away the 1st round bye from Iowa (and hopefully help us get a higher seed in the tourney).
...if we lose, it doesn't mean anything. It's all about the regular season.
