Jim Harbaugh, please stay at Michigan
I've heard Coach Harbaugh talk about being appreciated and wanted. I've read articles talking about how much it means to him.
The excellent President Ono is doing a great job of it. At least one Regent, Jordan Acker, seems to be doing a good job of it.
We fans certainly cheer and show our joy. We know we love Coach Harbaugh, the players, the other coaches -- this magnificent TEAM.
But it might be useful for us to say so in direct terms in one topic.
Maybe this could be seen by Coach Harbaugh, whereas posts scattered here and there in other topics would not. Maybe what we say is not of much impact on his decision, but it doesn't hurt for us to try. Maybe there is another thread here on MGoBlog that already did this. I looked around and didn't see one. I won't hurt to have another even so.

Maybe you could print off the comments in this thread and hand deliver them to his home.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:31 PM ^
I would if I could.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:36 PM ^
I actually really like this idea
January 11th, 2024 at 8:51 PM ^
Jim Harbaugh would probably love that and I am being dead serious when I say that. Jim Harbaugh is so different than most any other coach I have ever seen. I wouldn’t even be surprised if he has a login account for this blog. Please come back Jim. I cannot think of any other player who could be a better fit and coach for our team. At least until any player of Team 144 decides to enter into the coaching profession.

Post them on his door, Luther style.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:42 PM ^
I don't know how he'd feel about that one, what with him being a devout Catholic.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:51 PM ^
Posting on the door was a Catholic thing. That's how Luther knew how to do it. It was basically like the posting boards that are all over campus.

Don’t print out this thread from just over three years ago, when plenty here wanted him fired. Harbaugh’s smart enough to know fans only love you when you’re winning. A couple of disappointing years and it would right back to this:

January 12th, 2024 at 1:34 AM ^
There were plenty of folks talking back then against what we thought was negative insanity.
January 12th, 2024 at 3:32 AM ^
:LOL, you guys really wanted to get rid of JH back then, and many wanted Gattis as our HC. I'm just glad Harbaugh got rid of the old staff and rebuilt our program!
January 11th, 2024 at 9:02 PM ^
I'll stand on his front lawn with a boombox over my head if you guys think it will help.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:14 PM ^
I’ll Que “In Your Eyes”
January 12th, 2024 at 1:35 AM ^
+1. I love that great song.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:36 PM ^
I mean, it can’t hurt.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:14 PM ^
Phenomenal idea. If anyone can do it, seriously please do it.
Coach, we love you. We are so thankful for all your incredible work for our beloved school. Who's got it better than us???
January 12th, 2024 at 8:53 AM ^
My feelings exactly!

Plane with a banner is less intrusive.
January 11th, 2024 at 10:00 PM ^
I'm getting flashbacks to the 70's and 80's with the plane and banner reference. Numerous aircraft circling the Big House all game long!!
January 11th, 2024 at 10:19 PM ^
Show up at his house with a binder of praise comments from the blog, a gallon of whole milk, and two fat ribeyes and ask what he’s up to that night
January 11th, 2024 at 10:49 PM ^
This should be a sticky note!!!
January 12th, 2024 at 8:56 AM ^
Is it weird that I could almost envision Harbaugh saying
"yeah, happy to be here, happy to sign an extension, even got a bunch of printed out comments from some mblog.go or something whatever the site thing is a guess a forum showing love. Lotta leave here, means a lot."
January 11th, 2024 at 8:31 PM ^
Coach Harbaugh, please stay at Michigan.
Part of this is selfish on my part, of course. Michigan football has the vital essence, the fire, the tradition, the glory, that for me the NFL will never approach.
I don't think I'm alone in feeling that way, though, looking at reactions like this:
Rich Eisen's emotion
The fan shouting "We f*ing love you!"
Ann Arbor singing
Times reporter's life transformed by Michigan-football fandom.
But there are aspects that do matter beyond fan feelings. In college football, you, Coach Harbaugh, play a major part in guiding and improving the lives of young men. You are an important teacher, a mentor, and a father figure. There are men who are better -- better husbands, better fathers -- because of you.
This story you tell, you are the one doing that now:
Also, this is perhaps the most-pivotal time in college-football history. It is a time where it will be decided whether or not players get a portion of the enormous revenue generated by college football. You -- a legendary football coach, a major media presence, the Head Coach of Michigan -- can be a major force in that process.
Coach Harbaugh, whether you stay or leave, you are a great Michigan Man.
But there are still so many more lives you can improve by staying.
Please stay, Coach Harbaugh.

@b18 JJ talks to the crowd on the Fox2 video of the team returning to Ann Arbor. He can't speak because the crowd goes wild and starts the "one more year" chant. When JJ breaks that chant he says, "I don't know how I could leave y'all."
He also seems very emotional, but makes it through a response which includes:
1. Everything about this place has just made it home to me.
2. I love you guys so much, you are part of the team.
I don't think he has made up his mind yet about his future in any external manner. I think at that moment he was exhausted and did his best to show a positive response. I also believe he doesn't want to leave for an unknown professional future when he's got this all going for him. I'm sure he and Jim have some aligning to work on. Over cheeseburgers (unless JJ is a vegan), the conversation is going to go like, "So coach, if you stay, I'll stay, if you go, you'd better draft me..."
January 11th, 2024 at 8:31 PM ^
Harbaugh you'll be forever loved. If you leave I understand, but why not cement a bigger legendary status here?

"You are looked for and called for, asked for and sought for [to stay!]"
- earlier that same act
January 11th, 2024 at 8:33 PM ^
Jim, please stay. There. I've done my part.
January 12th, 2024 at 4:33 AM ^
Ditto.
(Sorry to get all emotional like that, but sometimes, you just gotta speak from the heart.)
January 11th, 2024 at 8:34 PM ^
I’m offering a bear hug with enthusiasm unknown to mankind.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:50 PM ^
well i'm offering a bare hug with enthusiasm unknown to mankind. wait, am i doing this right?
January 11th, 2024 at 9:09 PM ^
Suddenly "social distancing" doesn't sound half bad....
January 11th, 2024 at 8:34 PM ^
I'd feel much more confident that Jim would see this if your name was Sarah Harbaugh.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:37 PM ^
Don't let osu, the ncaa, espn, the conference ADs and coaches, and Tony P off the hook. That's what they want.
Remember, Harbaughs forgive but they don't forget.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:37 PM ^
This board is littered with Harbaugh love. Not sure how much clearer we can make.
I suppose we can all go streaking on S University with "I heart Harbaugh" tattooed on our backs, and end with bear hugs?
January 11th, 2024 at 9:23 PM ^
Yeah, that will surely get him to stay.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:39 PM ^
The NFL desire might be schtick. Used for contract leverage. Maybe he doesn't even want to go back and have little control.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:28 PM ^
I can't speak for Jim Harbaugh, but I know that if I lost a Super Bowl to my brother there would always be a little piece of me trying to go win one, even if it isn't against him.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:34 PM ^
In other words,"that's just me, that's just me!"
January 12th, 2024 at 1:12 AM ^
Since "Oakland is still in play" the Jim is coming/staying crowd is UNDEFEATED. Next time some shit writer on "I get paid a living wage thanks to fantasy football" dot com says he is going just remember.
UNDEFEATED!
January 11th, 2024 at 8:41 PM ^
Dear Jim,
Do what makes you genuinely happy.
That said, I really hope you stay in Ann Arbor, we fuckin love ya man.
HAVE YOU SEEN OUR "HE'S COMIN'" MEMES FROM 2014!?!?!?!!
I STILL FEEL THOSE!!!
January 11th, 2024 at 8:42 PM ^
Feel free to drop my name:
"MMBbones really, really, wants you to stay."
January 11th, 2024 at 8:43 PM ^
Of course, I want him here, but I also very much want him to pursue the NFL if that’s what he wants. He only has so many years of coaching left and it would be a shame if looked back and felt some regret for not pursuing a Super Bowl ring. If he wants to be here, then that’s awesome, but he’s also given us something nobody else could and he would be leaving in fantastic shape if he left.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:58 PM ^
Nobody is saying that we don't want Jim to chase his dreams be happy. No, all im saying is that I want you to stay at Michigan because my feelings our more important.....so please stay.
I mean at the end of the day Jim just do as we ask...that's all
January 11th, 2024 at 8:44 PM ^
I say we kidnap a chicken or two as hostages until the contract is signed.
January 11th, 2024 at 9:18 PM ^
A kidnapped chicken is certainly a very nervous bird.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:44 PM ^
Yeah, this should do the trick.
January 11th, 2024 at 8:49 PM ^
The joy this man, this staff, this team has given us over the past 3 years can never be taken away.
Jim Harbaugh, godspeed, whatever you decide.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
