So you're saying that the responsible thing to do with allegations is investigate the source, their motivations, determine the veracity of the accusation, determine whether there is any rules violation, gauge the severity of the violation, then determine whether punishment is needed or warranted, and only after administer a punishment?

Hmmm.. it's almost as if you are advocating for some sort of due process, following previously set guidelines and not arbitrarily jumping to conclusions and penalties. I'm glad this is exactly how the B1G and NCAA operate.

I need to find some pearls to clutch.

or gnash my teeth and rend my hair.  But I guess keep the receipts?

Seems cheeseburger level.

How can the conference possibly allow them to continue playing games? This is an outrage. I'm sure the other conference members are excited to talk behind OSU's back.

Just checked ESPNs CFB front page and shockingly there's no mention of this potentially worse ever, potential scandal...think about the kids.

Pretty dumb rule. I mean, after you call to work out how big of a bag you need to send, sometimes you need to call back later to see if the recruit wants c-notes or would prefer tens and twenties.

Still, rules are rules. No choice but to give OSU the death penalty.

If I had to guess, some Michigan fanatic is right now the source of this disclosure by reverse-stallions these cheaters. We will hear about an Ann-Arbor-weird person who Jim Harbaugh met over bar food and shared a pitcher of USDA full fat, once 5 years ago and has some loose affiliation (donor, angry former player, the IRS agent who audited his tax return).

And when that person is caught, instead of Day or Hartline being punished, the entire country will be in an uproar as to why the newly appointed Supreme Leader / Bishop of Michigan Athletics, Jim Harbaugh, only got 3 games suspension instead of a year in the coal mine, when it wasn't even a rules violation to tattle-tale a blatant rules violator in the first place.

And here I thought OSU cared so much about the “integrity of the game,” and “following the rules,” and “bringing down the hammer on troublemakers like Michigan.”

I doubt anything comes of this, but I don’t care to hear some schtick from them about how Michigan is some rabid, out of control program.

If Michigan had been doing this, they’d be begging Pettiti to come back into the fray and lay the death penalty on Michigan. With them, it’ll be “whoa whoa whoa, let’s get all the facts and let due process play out. That’s only fair.”

Since when does this country care about consistency?  I can't recall the last time I've seen a hypocrite bothered by hypocrisy.  I've never seen pointing it out make the slightest difference.  I bet you'll see folks praising OSU for creating an unequal standard.  It means they're savvy.

Let it go.  This country's broken.  Consistency is a sucker's game now.

The new biggest scandal in NCAA history!  What is this world coming to, when schools/NIL collective can literally give a kid $5M before they step foot on campus, but you can't call a kid two days in a row....smh

With that said, this violation could not have happened to a better person!

Go Blue, beat Alabama!

I don't see what the big deal is.  This isn't like sign stealing or burgers.

But if you really think this is the Biggest Scandal in the History of the B1G, and players' safety is a stake. . . I don't see what else can be done than suspend Harbaugh for another three games.

Rumor has it, when Hartline was asked about this - his response included “I’m not sure what the big deal is.  The Buckeye football program has funneled brown bag payments to players and their friends for decades.  And, it’s not just cash - obviously the cars, great deals on everything… remember.. you’re talking about THE University of Ohio State.   So, is someone saying that my visit was an infraction?   Hah!   That is such a small deal and rule.   We have our players train with their coaches throughout the year.   Dead periods?   Lol,.. yeah.  Have you seen how rabid our fan base is?   No one from Buckeye Nation would ever turn us in - regardless of how egregious the infraction. By the way.. who reported this?”
