Klatt on Cowherd: Actually covering OSU/RU stealing UM's signs
November 8th, 2023 at 4:38 PM ^
Amen.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:38 PM ^
Joel Klatt remains eminently likable.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
He's by far my favorite, fair, unbiased DUDE in all of sports media.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:58 PM ^
He's the best live analyst on TV, and he's able to stay fair and neutral when so many others fall into clickbait or biases
Mad respect for Klatt
November 8th, 2023 at 6:46 PM ^
Petitti waffling? Petitti is in over his head. Way over his head.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:40 PM ^
I'd like to put this on the record, just to be clear- fuck espn, all the pea-brained talking heads there, Pet-titty, Ohio state, and the big ten.
Having said that, I like Klatt, cowherd, and fox sports.....for now
November 8th, 2023 at 6:24 PM ^
A true statesman that speaks for the people.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:40 PM ^
Unfortunately, your headline doesn't read well.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:42 PM ^
I guess?
November 8th, 2023 at 4:57 PM ^
Apparently I can't read.
Read it as, "covering for"
SORRY.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:56 PM ^
I think it reads good
November 8th, 2023 at 5:28 PM ^
What is this--a headline for ants?
November 8th, 2023 at 8:23 PM ^
How can we expect people to read the news if they can't even see the headline??
November 8th, 2023 at 4:41 PM ^
The tide is changing quickly. Had Michigan rolled over and villianized themselves (like the Michigan of old) we would be mocked and piled on by everyone in the media. I'm so happy to see my favorite University fighting back. Even if they get Petitti to back down, they should go on the offensive. You don't get to defame and drag the Michigan name in the dirt with zero consequences. I hope the rest of this conference enjoys the bed they made. Time to lie in it.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:43 PM ^
Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start!
November 8th, 2023 at 4:45 PM ^
Remember when Hoke apologized for a stake in the ground at MSU?
We’ve come a long way, baby!
November 8th, 2023 at 4:48 PM ^
Yea, that was fucking BS.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
That stake was a weapon! It could have hurt their players who wouldn't be able to then do things like twist Denard's neck and launch themselves into our players laying face down.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:03 PM ^
That was a very, very low point. Embarrassing.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:49 PM ^
"You don't get to defame and drag the Michigan name in the dirt with zero consequences."
As an alum - and parent of current Michigan students - there are a few things that I place very high value in. Ethics, integrity, and honesty are certain characteristics which are very important to me.
When I was a student (in the College of Engineering) - I wrote the following on every bluebook exam I took - "I have neither given nor received aid on this exam" - which was followed with my signature.
If Harbaugh says "I am not aware of this", I take him at his word.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
CoE alum here, too. I think there was a 2nd half to that, at least when I was in school. Went something like, “nor have I witnessed any violations of the Honor Code.”
What’s my point? I’m not quite sure.
Edit: oh yeah, my point is I agree with you
November 8th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
I am an alum too. Sadly, my exam performances rarely required that disclaimer.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:03 PM ^
This blog is full of intelligent scholars that have Michigan degrees and it shows. I wish I had had the means to say the same. You guys make this blog my favorite space on the internet and for more reasons than just football.
November 8th, 2023 at 7:09 PM ^
I heard that Bluebooks went the way of "Michigan time." That gave me a sad.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:50 PM ^
Actually this is a very relevant point..UM as a brand has taken a major hit by being directly associated w words like "stealing", "cheating", "scandal" etc.
There's a lot of value $$ that can be lost by such a smear campaign.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:17 PM ^
"Sign stealing scandal!" A phrase used repeatedly by ESPN, Thamel and the media mob. And to boot, the rule Michigan was accused of breaking was "in person scouting." But the latter sounds so much more egregious.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Hopefully Michigan could get injunctive relief if Petitti suspends Harbaugh. Perhaps I'm in the minority but I'd like to see Pettiti act this week. I believe that the relationship between Michigan and the B1G may be irreversibly broken and I'd like the opportunity to go after some of the holier than thou teams looking to hang Michigan and Harbaugh. A suit would provide that opportunity and the ball would be in Michigan's court to call off the dogs and settle or continue on through a trial.
With a suit filed, the discovery process would begin and every email, text, letter, video, conversation, what have you would become fair game through interrogatories and depositions. While the suit would be a civil matter, lying under oath is perjury and that is criminal. I suspect the can of worms that would be opened would create problems for many programs, particularly the fuckers in Columbus. I'd love to see them squirm and perhaps be responsible for monetary damages should such damages be established.
As mad as I am, and I'm more than plenty pissed, I feel terrible for the players who through no fault of their own, have to deal with this garbage which tarnishes what might be the best team in program history.
Thank you for letting me rant.

Rumor is FoxSports has told the BigTen that Michigan football makes everyone $ and they'll be pissed off to the point of impacting business decisions if the BigTen overreacts or is rash.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:45 PM ^
Where did you see or hear this rumor?
November 8th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^
That dude says this on every thread.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:23 PM ^
If he says enough times where it becomes a fact, then I'm OK with that.
November 8th, 2023 at 6:31 PM ^
Well, the conclusion is a rumor, but the fact is that they paid an enormous amount of money to broadcast the game and a reasonable person would assume they would complain if someone screwed it up by acting prematurely, irrationally, and without due process.
For as long as I can remember, the NCAA and Big 10 generally take years to get through an investigation. There is no reason to rush this given past precedent.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:48 PM ^
Is that a rumor or just a out-loud-statement of basic logic? The rumor, or reality, that I'd like to hear is whether or not Fox Sports is exploring legal action (alongside Michigan and Harbaugh) against the B1G for actual monetary damages if they pursue some idiotic punishment like a head coach suspension or conference title ineligibility. Petitti's lack of backbone might cost Fox tens-of-millions of dollars.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:49 PM ^
Money talks. Michigan gets the eyeballs, and that was before all of this sh!t hit the fan. Now that it has, there will be even more folks watching. This could be Fox's highest rating Big Noon kickoff, that surpassing last year's showdown in C'Bus, and Michigan won that game.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:45 PM ^
where are we at with the process? is the 48 hour after the big ten notice to Michigan approaching ? If the Big ten does pull the trigger is there enough time to counter this before Saturday.
I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere but havent ran across it.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:48 PM ^
Per Rittenberg (twitter), Michigan has sent their response
November 8th, 2023 at 4:53 PM ^
The 🖕 response.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
I"m guessing the lack of leaks means we are waiting for Pettitti to respond. If he backs down, we probably let this lie. If not, I'm guessing more leaks.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:55 PM ^
Radio said Michigan could seek an emergency injunction if the BigTen drops the news Friday night.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:01 PM ^
Yes, getting kind of late here if they (Big 10) pull the trigger. (And commit suicide).
November 8th, 2023 at 4:47 PM ^
Well, Petitti kind of looks like a less entertaining version of Pagliacci now. If he pursues this, he'll just look like WGN's Bozo, but unfriendly to children and ruthlessly mocked whenever he shows his face on stage.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:33 PM ^
Clowns and Chicago are a bad mix.
November 8th, 2023 at 7:21 PM ^
Grand Prize Game to determine number of games suspended.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
I wonder what the clowns on 97.1 are saying about this. I know Stoney called for Harbaugh to be fired and then has him on their show and doesn't mention it.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:25 PM ^
Most of them follow Valenti’s lead…if he says jump they say “how high?” Wojo & Jansen are the only sane ones there.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:37 PM ^
I almost never listen to 97.1 but Karsch & Anderson did have Dan Wetzel (who wrote a pretty favorable article to Michigan yesterday) on today.
November 8th, 2023 at 4:58 PM ^
We need to remember all the Heroes of SignGate.
Add Klatt to the list, for sure.
November 8th, 2023 at 5:02 PM ^
I'll say, Isiah Hole has definitely gone from "guy who struggled to create content to post" to hero for me on this.
