🏀 A return to Michigan
Random additional transfer note that didn't seem to warrant its own thread, Moten is headed to Florida.
Does Vegas lay odds on where he goes? What’s the best guess?
Someone’s going to post the Moten news anyway. Maybe more than one. Good post by you.
Thanks for the update. Hoping that he returns but figure it's a long shot.
Also saw that Gregg Glenn is headed to Tulane.
I have no basis for the feeling but I think he ends up at Villanova.
Supposedly he is tight with Justin Moore at Villanova and they had talked about playing together.

May the odds be forever in our favor.

Hunter as "Mega-Me".
Assuming the rumors about Kansas are true in that they offered him $2 million a year for the next two years, he'd be an absolute fool not to take that.
Michigan can't, and won't, match that. They won't even try, and Dickinson likely does not have an NBA future. Not one where he's making star or superstar kind of money.
I'd pocket that $4 million, go play overseas for a few years and make some nice money doing that, go see the world, and build up a really stinking good nest egg that's bigger than what a lot of people have who are twice your age. It won't be enough to retire on when you're 35, but if you're smart with that money and have a good career lined up when you get back, you can retire a heck of a lot earlier than the rest of us schmucks.
I agree, though I'd be surprised if KU actually plays him $2M/yr. The guys who get paid a ton via NIL tend to be players with big social media following counts, not necessarily the "best" players. It's all a bit cloack-and-dagger but I believe Zach Edey made about $900k last year and I'd be shocked if Dickinson got close to that from a place like KU that, I presume, is also paying other guys who are equally as good.
People on this board keep saying things like this, but Kansas ain't Purdue and men's basketball players account for over 20% of all NIL deals. (Source.)
Not only is basketball the absolute king at KU (and much more popular than somewhere like Purdue), but they don't have another major sports that they really throw money at. Basketball is wildly popular in Kansas, and Hunter is an established star with lots of high profile bidders. $2 mil/year isn't unrealistic in the least.
Keep in mind that LSU's Angel Reese has an NIL valuation of $1.3 million, and the fact that a major player on a blue blood men's basketball program is going to be worth at least twice that. $2 million per year for Hunter might be a slight bargain.
He could retire on it depending on lifestyle. See FIRE
2 million at 4% is 80k per year. He could definitely do worse.
But it is rumored to be $4M
The Taxman cometh...so he wouldn't have 4 mil after the IRS got its "pound of flesh."
(I assume that players have to pay taxes on NIL money.)
What type of lifestyle are you living that you can't retire with 4 million dollars?! Invest wisely and the interest alone would be enough.
The type of lifestyle that young adults want at that age
Computer games, Ramen, & anime porn?
And Ferarris
And Faberge Eggs
Or a K car.
A nice reliant automobile.
Comment made me lol.
The comment on $4M reminded me of one of my favorite Succession scenes about $5M
1. Making $4 million in two years is different than making $4 million over a career. $4 million over two years will put you in the highest tax bracket. Assuming a standard deduction, about $1.4 million of that $4 million will be owed in federal taxes. You would also potentially owe state and local tax on top of that depending on where you live.
2. Your investments and interest will eventually be subject to capital gains tax depending on when you withdraw/sell the investment.
3. My guess is someone that young and single making $2 million/year is going to be looking to indulge themselves a bit.
No doubt it will set you up well for the rest of your life, but I'm not sure I would be looking to retire at 22 with ~$2.5 million.
Five years in Europe will solve that problem.
Don't forget he's already made NIL money.
He might already be a millionaire.
Don't forget he's already made NIL money.
He might already be a millionaire.
Sounds like he might have two million. :)
Wish I had $4M to invest at his age. That's for sure!
How pissed would the 5* guys at Kansas be if they are getting <$2M a year for a transfer, with little to no NBA future walks in and gets $4M guaranteed?
Hell, Arch Manning's total deal (I know he didn't get paid as of yet) is rumored to be $3.8M and Hunter gets $4M? That's BS.
Wait, what? What has Arch Manning done?
If Arch Manning is a Heisman finalist in one of the next two years, and then commands less than $2M for his senior year, go ahead and make that comparison
Arch totally sucked in the spring game. Like 5/13 for 30 yards and likely won’t see the field this year but for mop up duty and will be 3rd string starting the season.
Arch Manning will make well over 3.8 million in 3 years at Texas if he wins games. The state of Texas is a completely different world when it comes to football. Florida might be a distant second.
If you can’t retire on 4 million at 35 years old you’re doing something wrong.
Wrong but--fun?
. . . the rest of us lordly Wolverines.
out of that list, and assuming he doesn't come back to Michigan, Georgetown would be a pretty cool landing spot. I like it when they are good at basketball
I hate it when Georgetown is good at basketball.
A St. John's fan, originally from Queens. (Trouble is, now I can't root for the Johnnies either. Fuck Rick Pitino.)
Wow, Pitino"s hire has made me fall back in love with the Johnnies!
Getting prepared...
eeyore so vane
you prob'ly think Dickinson's about Blue
Hunter,
You had me several years ago when I was still quite naive
Well you said that we made such a pretty pair and that you would never leave
But you gave away the things you loved
And one of them was me
I had some dreams they were clouds in my coffee clouds in my coffee and
You're so vain

Maryland, just because thats where he's from.
I'd be surprised if he came back to UM but I also don't really see how going to Syracuse or Georgetown makes his life any easier so what do I know.
Feels like Maryland is the leader in the clubhouse even if that doesn't make the Terrapins a championship contender or anything. Feels like his issues with Maryland were with the old admin and fans will get over hating him.
Maryland may be willing to pay him more, but doesn't offer more exposure or a guaranteed Final 4. They are better than us, but not by that much.
Come on - does he really want to go play his final year at..wack-ass Syracuse, G'town or Villanova? Georgetown has been especially bad and I don't think the new coaches at Gtown, Syracuse or Villanova are going to have those teams playing well next year, certainly not enough to make the tournament.
One more year at Michigan would do so much more for his legacy than one mercenary year at Kansas or Kentucky (prob not Maryland though). Barring a deep memorable tournament run, those fanbases will likely forget about him in a few seasons. And it's not like Michigan can't get him some money. Come on, man, stick around. M has good transfers all around him now...
I mean they have transfers, I wouldn't say they're good, but they're definitely there.
I'm not so sure - Caleb Love and Nimari Burnett seem like legitimately good players. And there's the possibility they could still add a major PF from the portal. Plus Dug will be good and hopefully Llewellyn can contribute as well.
he has two years and Nova would be a final four contender with him
he would also get to live in Philly as opposed to a college town and be closer to home
He knows Jim Thome?
