OT: Trailer for The Equalizer 3
I haven't seen 1 or 2. Are they worth it?
i am biased but YES if you like good action movies. Denzel does not disappoint.
It wasn't until several years after its release that I saw the first "Equalizer." I was immediately hooked. Denzel is a kind of wandering nomad of righteous vengeance, in the mode of Caine from Kung Fu or Jack Reacher. His background is mysterious, some sort of special forces. The bad guys get their comeuppance in extremely satisfying ways. I would rank these movies as highly as "Taken," to use one example.
Yeah, he's like a morph of JR/TA. I'm a DW fan, but MoF was just a twitch better than the Eq character, imo.
Answer key:
(Jack Reacher, The Accountant, Denzel Washington, Man on Fire, Equalizer)
The Accountant turned to to be way, way, way better than I thought it would be.
I guess those Affleck's can act. i.e., Manchester By The Sea was very good.
Ben Affleck did a great job playing an unemotional, stiff charachter. Kidding aside, I did enjoy The Accountant.
1 was great. Haven’t seen 2.
anyone know where to stream?
Want to see John Wick 4 as well
Equalizer 1 is currently streaming on Starz. Equalizer 2 is currently streaming on Hulu.
justwatch.com is my favorite site for what's streaming where.
Yes. Denzel is a really good actor, and he plays this part to perfection in my opinion.
Yes. It follows the standard vigilante justice format, but still very entertaining
Denzel makes vigilante justice that much more...charming...
True. If I am to die by vigilante justice, I want Denzel Washington to do it.
1 is fantastic. 2 is almost as good, but not quite.
But if you watch, be ready for some graphic violence.
Yes, looking forward to it. I enjoy all of Denzel's movies.
You know, it seems like everyone he befriends ends up getting targeted by organized crime or related highly trained killers. Is it possible, just possible, that Denzel (aka Robert McCall) is the problem rather than the solution?
Like those of a certain generation who knew that Angela Lansbury was a straight-up serial killer. Don't let Meemaw fool you, and don't stay with her at a B&B.
She solved 60 murders in a town of 3,560 people over 12 years, or 5 murders per year. That translates to a murder rate (per 100,000 people) of 140. That would make Cabot Cove, Maine, 4X or 5X more dangerous than the most dangerous countries in the world today.
Is it possible, just possible, that Denzel (aka Robert McCall) is the problem rather than the solution?
Why can't he be both?
My sister wanted to marry Charles Bronson and I wouldnt hear of it!
Creasy-bear says, maybe.
Wait, you mean the real and very serious Queen Latifah isn't starring in this??
Yeah, not sure how anyone can take Denzel seriously in this role after how well Queen Latifah has owned it on the TV series.
Edward Woodward will always be my Equalizer.
Pssst - you forgot the /s
/s??
The first two were cool. Watching someone nearly 70 shredding people in hand to hand combat and out reflexing everyone is a bit too much for me, though.
It will still be better than the embarrassing Latifah show.
It's astonishing and more than a little depressing to me that there are enough people with so little brains and taste to actually make a Queen Latifah vigilante action hero show a hit.
No accounting for taste... I have zero interest in watching the show, but it doesn't particularly bother me that other people do.
Astonishing and depressing? Jeez man, it's just an action TV show (I assume; I've never seen it).
Jeff Bridges pulls off that "Old Man" combat in convincing form as of late.
And after watching "Tulsa King" I think Sly can still hold his own.
Some of these old dudes still impress, albeit Hollywood.
Is Denzel Washington a vampire, because that dude does not age at all.
Same for Keanu Reeves.
Whoa!
Yes. Denzel is a vampire. Definitely.
Nice! I have a vision of JJ running out of the tunnel on Nov. 25, hyper focusing as everything around the Big House goes slow motion, setting a timer and then unleashing total destruction.
'On Nine! Break!"
Oh yeah!
I did like the first one. I haven't seen the second film.
I still get a kick out of how apparently Edward Woodward, from the 1980s show "The Equalizer", would sometimes be approached in the street by people looking for assistance. He actually began carrying flyers with him directing them to various organizations.
The first two were great..He has so many good ones like Training Day, Man on Fire, Eli, American Gangster, Crimson Tide and Glory..So many more and one of the most well liked and respected actor.
Eli is my favorite of that list. I didn't figure out his character was blind until late in the film and then watching it a second time knowing his character was blind was like watching a different movie.
As they say, "make sure you have a good supply of body bags" 😏
That's a wine opener he's stuffing up the dude's neck. Denzel is all cold-blooded business. "Do I look like a killer?" *flashes the best smile in Hollywood*
This guy should team up with John Wick.
There’s either a Chuck Norris or Bill Brasky joke in there
Not sure I’ve ever seen a Denzel movie that I didn’t like. He might be the most universally beloved and respected actor of the last 30 years.
My man….
Ok.
Alright.
Um…the Bone Collector
April 25th, 2023 at 10:03 PM ^
Ouch. Yeah, that was pretty terrible.
What's super funny about the Bone Collector is that the trailer/preview totally gave away the killer. The trailer/preview doesn't show the killer's face, but does have him talk. Then about 10 minutes into the film, there is a guy that talks just like the killer. Doh!
