Saw the (Jim Harbaugh led) Bears pull out a late victory over the Lions in the 1992 season opener. Very hung over from the night before but it was a fun game.
The best experience was two summers later though... tripping at a Dead show, almost losing my shit during the best The Other One performance I've seen and then wandering the city.

I'm not unilaterally opposed to a "rival coach" but I don't think I'd want any of those that you specifically mentioned.
Tresel - history at Youngstown and tOSU. At best, he intentionally turned a blind eye. At worst / most likely he was orchestrating the whole thing.
Kelly - NO, NO, NO.
Urban - probably the only one I could talk myself into. He's a d-bag but he recruits, he wins and I suppose his worst offense is screwing over Florida - which I'm actually kind of cool with. A more polished / politicaly savy Rich Rod without the hillbilly twang.
Dantonio - really good coach who probably would have been a great sucessor to Lloyd if the timing had been different. He's just been too big an a-hole and said too many inflamatory things about Michigan over the years.
Narduzzi - No head coaching experience and it's very hard to seperate his success from that of Dantonio. He's definitely earned an entry level HC position but I need to see a few years of success at a smaller school or coordinating in the NFL to consider him.

Brandon is awful but at least you can point to some accomplishments. Virtually everything Goodell has been involved with has been a failure and the league continues to make money in spite of him. I think the bubble is due to burst and 5 - 10 years from now we'll all look back and wonder what happened to the invincible NFL.
Michigan will be fine, a 10 win season or 2 will heal most of the wounds.

Due date was the 11’th and they’re scheduled to induce on Monday if nothing happens over the weekend. Hoping I don’t have to plow thru any dream cruisers on the way to Beaumont!
|19 weeks 5 days ago||Ugh||
I've seen these from time to time and tried to imagine the thought process that goes into buying / wearing one... Probably something along the lines of "I'm supposed to meet the guys for bodypainting before the big game but I'm worried that I won't look quite ridiculous enough" or "it's just too warm for the snuggy"
Bottom line, if the stadium or university doesn't have a policy forbidding them than good old fashioned common sense and decency should take over.

It's hard to beat that 1993 collection of talent but 1989 (Tony Boles, Jarrod Bunch, Leroy Hoard) and 1997 (Chris Howard, Clarence Williams, Anthony Thomas plus future pro bowl LB Ian Gold) were also very impressive.
2006 has some impressive talent (Hart, Carlos Brown, Kevin Grady, Jerome Jackson, Brandon Minor) and may have challenged for the top spot with better luck / health and a more even distribution of carries.

No. Unless he somehow falls to the Pistons in Round 2, then the answer is still "No" for Mitch but "Yes" for Piston's fans. I don't see Mitch (or GRIII) dropping that far but it would certainly help offset the lost/squandered lottery pick if one did.

That's been my biggest question since the switch was announced. No matter what the scheme or what level of football it's always seemed fairly standard to have your long / rangy LB responsible for the TE. This was very helpful but I'm really looking forward to the LB analysis.
Also curious how the coverages will change on the back end, which front 7 player(s) will come out in nickel and how much the job description of the actual nickel back will change (if at all)

Does Walking with Dinosaurs: The Arena Spectacular count? Taking my 3 and 5 year old boys to see it at The Palace in August and it looks awesome!!! Hard to say whose more excited, them or daddy...

Very much agree on Albert White... I loved his potential as a freshman and thought his combination of size, strength, and explosiveness would translate well to the NBA. Still one of my favorite recruiting classes ever with Bullock and Traylor, a shame they never fully realized their potential.

If your looking at gold as an investment vehicle, you may want to consider a mutual fund for all the same reasons you might favor one over an individual stock (diversification, professional management, etc.) There's many that specialize in precious metals but I've only got personal experience with Franklin Gold & Precious Metals (FRGOX).
I wouldn't build my portfolio around this (or any commodity) but it's a nice hedge and potentially a good value. Just my 2 cents... with all disclaimers about not taking investment advice from random posters on a sports blog.

|51 weeks 6 days ago||No, no, no. Neither of them.||
No, no, no. Neither of them. Except for very rare cases, NFL coaching is a young man's game and bringing back the older coach with the big resume (and corresponding ego) rarely works.
Brian Kelly is an outstanding college coach but I've seen nothing that leads me to believe he'd succeed in the NFL. The biggest issue with Schwartz (probably the best Lions coach of the past 50 years, but still deserved to lose his job) was his inability to control his emotions or that of his team, I doubt that would improve under Kelly.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||F***k cancer!!!||
I don't mean to offend one by using a non-human example but my beloved dog of 13 years died a year ago from an awful, agressive cancer that spread so rapidly that nothing could be done. Worst few weeks of my life and ultimately I made the humane decision to end her suffering once all the treatment options were exhausted. I'd have done anything if there really were a cure available and my heart goes out to anyone whose lost someone or something they love to such an awful disease.

I don't think I've ever called out another poster or said anything negative / inflamnatory but... wtf??? Grow up dude, we all get the concept you're selling but no one agrees with your interpretation.
Too bad, the original question was actually interesting but I can't believe I devoted 8 minutes of my life to scrolling thru this nonsense.

I thought you meant the Fab Five ones for a second, but this is exciting on it's own. Great team and a great season.

This was really great, thank you so much for sharing... I was totally entranced and ignored some pressing work stuff to finish it, there could have been a fire alarm going off by the time I got to the photo gallery and would have been oblivious. Awesome post!

Can't believe it took so long for anyone to mention '97. Nebraska whined their way into a share of the title after Tennessee laid down in the bowl game and Osborne announced his retirement. To this day, the thought of Scott Frost and his post-game begging makes me sick.

|1 year 17 weeks ago||Most excited to see all the||
Most excited to see all the new talent debut (specifically Dymonte, Taco, Jehu and Kalis) but I'm expecting the following:
1) Dominant interior running game
2) No blown coverages. The individual talent on the DL and secondary is improved / more experienced and that should translate to a much better pass defense. Big plays due to mental mistakes (against an inferior opponent) would be troubling.
3) Multiple TE's having an impact in the passing game

41, lifetime fan. One of the best moments of my life was seeing Ryan Leaf's final pass fall incomplete as afternoon transitioned to dusk in Pasadena. So many close calls in the 80's and early 90's and all the disappointment melted away. Can't wait for the next one...

I like Avery but knee and back problems are an awful combination. Hope he recovers and is able to contribute this year but not at the expense of hobbling around 30 years too early.

I'll go with Glasgow out of the choices listed but I'm still optimistic that Jarrod Wilson develops into a competent starter this year.
|1 year 17 weeks ago||Not likely, he's been||
Not likely, he's been available for anyone to sign at different points in the past few seasons and nobody's pulled the trigger. Got cut by SF last year and their WR corps was not a team strength. I think it goes beyond the drops / concentration lapses / kind of acting like an a-hole and he's just lost the ability to run by people or get seperation.
An all-time Michigan great but he's 30, his last moderately productive year was 2010 and 4 teams have given up on him in the past 4 years. Sadly, I think he's done.
