ND Offensive Coordinator Tommy Rees interviewing with Bama for OC Role
This could help us here a bit, as Rees was a top recruiter, QB coach and their OC. Given the number of players we go head to head with this could open some things up if he takes the job, depending on how ND backfills the position.
also to hell with Notre Dame.

Come home to Ann Arbor CJ Carr.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:42 PM ^
I'm guessing zero percent chance.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:50 PM ^
I'll give it 1%. I hear he has a family member that used to work for the school.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
Wasn't he an assistant equipment manager?
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:09 PM ^
oh no - it all comes back to that murderous tunnel doesn't it?!
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:12 PM ^
Everybody murders. Even tunnels.
February 2nd, 2023 at 7:05 PM ^
I thought that was the problem - he didn’t want to be in his grandfather’s shadow.
February 2nd, 2023 at 2:04 PM ^
I'd take Jadyn Davis over Carr any day of the week. Carr still hasn't shown the elite production you would expect from a supposed 5* given the competition he's playing against and still has some turnover issues
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:40 PM ^
He might be a nice recruiter but every ND fan I know thinks he's a terrible playcaller.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:01 PM ^
Yeah, this is really surprising to me. Rees was supposed to be the second coming as their QB, and he wasn't. Then they were all excited about him as OC, and their offense has continued to under-perform really badly.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:18 PM ^
Second coming? Rees was a 3-star prospect.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
Yeah, and ND fans and the media still hyped him up big time. I'm not saying they were right, I'm just saying there was a contingent in the CFB ecosystem that expected every ND QB to be the next Joe Montana.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:57 PM ^
there is an equally-significant contingent that expects every ND QB to be the next Ron Powlus
February 2nd, 2023 at 4:28 PM ^
Zombie Beano Cook nods his head
February 2nd, 2023 at 5:06 PM ^
They're still waiting on Ron Powlus to be the first Ron Powlus
February 4th, 2023 at 7:07 PM ^
and yet here we are on Ron Powlus III already
February 2nd, 2023 at 2:14 PM ^
Hmm ... I don't remember Rees being that hyped up. My recollection is that he was viewed as more of a stopgap guy before they landed their next stud.
February 2nd, 2023 at 3:32 PM ^
Not sure about play calling, but I remember him as very bad at ball security.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:40 PM ^
Unless their NIL program follows him to Alabama, ND will be fine.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:42 PM ^
That sound you hear is nearly every ND fan rejoicing in unison.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:56 PM ^
That is my favorite Tommy Rees moment. Good times
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
OMG! Our shirts. I forgot how much I didn't like them.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:28 PM ^
Not to mention the highlighter yellow.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:38 PM ^
It is a shame that one of the greatest games in the history (or at least the modern history) of Michigan Stadium got played in those jerseys which are now memorialized forever.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:58 PM ^
i mean yeah on the one hand i +1'd but OTOH those who forget their mistakes are condemned to repeat them
February 2nd, 2023 at 2:15 PM ^
The block M on the front was cool. The stripes were totally unnecessary.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
I remember it well. Possibly the most inexplicable play I've ever seen happen in favor of UM. It's like an invisible hand reached out and held the ball in place while he was trying to throw.
February 2nd, 2023 at 4:54 PM ^
How did we manage to get two of the best college football uniforms to looks this bad?
February 2nd, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
Adidas
February 3rd, 2023 at 12:01 PM ^
We are Family?
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:46 PM ^
Lol! We'll always have 2011!!!j
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:48 PM ^
Tommy "throw it backwards" Rees.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:50 PM ^
I was really hoping they'd pick Scott Frost as my wife is a Gump so the torment would have been fun
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:14 PM ^
Working for Saban is a well known rehab stop. See Kiffin, Lane. See also Sarkisian, Steve
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:53 PM ^
With Steve you'd have to be specific about rehab.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:56 PM ^
He's the king of failing-up.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:10 PM ^
Well, maybe not king
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:57 PM ^
ND needs to strike fast and hire Brian Ferentz before Iowa locks him up with a 10-year deal.
February 2nd, 2023 at 8:47 PM ^
The only thing that might make me smile more is hearing that Coach “decided schematic advantage” would return to the Irish.
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:59 PM ^
To me he’ll always be the guy who let the ball slip out of his hands, mid-throw, during UTL I. One of the biggest whiffs I’ve ever seen from a QB.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:02 PM ^
Taking the Irish's Risk elimination as a foreboding omen for the program. Solid logic.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:13 PM ^
this makes it seem like Bama is having a hard time getting a quality OC
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:39 PM ^
I hear Gattis might have free time.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:40 PM ^
Bama should bring back Gattis so he can prove Alabama's success was him and not Locksley...
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:17 PM ^
I live in SB and I am currently listening to all the ND fans in my office discussing this news, and they are super excited to potentially be rid of Rees.
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:30 PM ^
Kinda sucks for recruits if they will have a major coaching position departure right after signing day. OSU definitely approves. Since it is ND, I don't feel too bad, though.
February 2nd, 2023 at 7:29 PM ^
Money talks
February 2nd, 2023 at 1:32 PM ^
What exactly from ND's 2022 offense made Nick Saban say, "give me some of that!" ???
