OT: Poor damn Joe Milton
Sorry-not-sorry to kick the man when he's down, but . . .
Stop what you are doing, go on Twitter, search "Joe Milton," and scroll through the top Tweets. I am rolling. The best have GIFs and videos, but here's some of the best of the rest.

LOL that last one!
September 13th, 2021 at 7:00 PM ^
That last one was good, but I have a hard time believing a Tennessee fan came up with that!
September 14th, 2021 at 6:38 AM ^
Don't worry he didn't that joke is older than most of you on this board. I first heard it about Doug Williams when he was in Tampa Bay and sending him to Iran to overthrow the Ayatollah who was holding US hostages a the time (444 days in total if you remember the Trivial Pursuit question).
September 13th, 2021 at 5:51 PM ^
I don’t not feel bad for him.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:27 PM ^
I guess now he won't have the opportunity to "drop 50 points on Michigan"
September 13th, 2021 at 7:18 PM ^
Hold up…did he say this?
September 13th, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
The rumor was he said that during last season after he got benched. He threatened to transfer and put up 50 on Michigan.
September 13th, 2021 at 8:22 PM ^
Wow I had not heard that
September 13th, 2021 at 9:16 PM ^
50 what exactly, yards, incompletions, overthrows???
September 13th, 2021 at 10:45 PM ^
The fact that Harbaugh could not see this in practice last year is concerning. He must have really had a bug up his ass about McCaffery’s off season. Cut off your nose…He can’t afford to be a meathead.
September 14th, 2021 at 7:05 AM ^
Coaches fall in love with the talent. It happened at Tennessee this year too.
September 14th, 2021 at 4:37 PM ^
Body of Cam Newton.
September 13th, 2021 at 5:52 PM ^
That last one actually got a chuckle out of me.
September 13th, 2021 at 5:52 PM ^
So, I'm generally fine with people moving on from a situation to better themselves or if they just don't have an opportunity.
But in the spring, and then later this fall, there has been discussion that both Milton and Jackson trashed the program on their way out, and also were part of Xavier Worthy decommitting to Texas. That I'm less likely to have sympathy for.
So, and I understand that rumors are rumors, but is this something that we have on pretty good accord? If so, I'm less sympathetic to the Giles booing, and the Milton "shade".
September 13th, 2021 at 6:18 PM ^
Who cares if they trashed the program on the way out? The program has kind of been trash. Does anyone know anything specific they said? What if they said "yeah, really disorganized, and the coaches don't really know how to develop guys." Is that trashing the program?
They're a bunch of 19-21 year olds and can be emotional if they feel like they're not getting their fair shake. Plus, they have pro aspirations, so this actually is really important for them.
I still remember being sooooo pissed that they didn't have enough people working for the Mongolian Grill night in dorm cafeteria, and we all had to wait an hour to get food. I wrote a sternly worded letter to the head of food service. You know why I did that? Because I was an overly emotional 19-21 year old who thought I wasn't getting a fair shake. So if Giles and Milton said shit on the way out, why does anyone care?
September 13th, 2021 at 6:25 PM ^
You’re probably good at burning ? bridges.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:44 PM ^
I just don't think a bunch of adults should get this worked up over what kids say about the program after they leave. I'm sure every board does it, but it seems so stupid. It's so stupid to act like these football players need to live up to some West Greenwich Country Club level of decorum at every point in their life, before, during and after their time at Michigan. I thought the tweets about Milton were funny. But to say "I'm fine with someone leaving the program....unless you said mean things on the way out" is a really strange way to live your life.
September 13th, 2021 at 7:33 PM ^
What are you even talking about? Trashing the program doesn’t do anything good for him or UM. If you think getting worked up is posting an opinion on a sports message board & a way of life, then… OK?
UM did give him an opportunity to play big time college football & to get a degree, & spent significant time and money doing so. Maybe you think trashing the program is just a normal shitty attitude that is just fine, and that being young is a perfectly good excuse to be less than appreciative… OK.
September 13th, 2021 at 8:51 PM ^
At this age, they don’t have an employee/employer relationship and “he’s just a kid” is a common though for this behavior. Do this on LinkedIn and it tends not to work out well.
September 15th, 2021 at 9:47 AM ^
Bad parenting IMHO.
September 13th, 2021 at 8:38 PM ^
This saying that college athletes are kids is Bullshit. These are 18 to 22 year olds. Between this age you are expected to do many things towards your future, responsible for many things that can affect your life. In this day and age, responsibility of yourself and your image to the public starts very early in life with the internet and social life. There is a record of everything posted online for years to come. To burn bridges and talk trash about the place you went to school (and now semiprofessional with NIL) or work is not a smart thing to do.
Another point in this direction is these two players are outliers in their behavior. Majority of transfer students don't trash their previous program or work place. They pay their respects for what they gained good or bad and leave on good terms. These college athletes are not kids anymore. If they still are they shouldn't have adult responsibilities. It is ok to critize their behavior, similar to what Devin Gardner said. Of course like all things, this is not black and white and there's a line you shouldn't cross when criticizing the college athletes. They aren't kids anymore and we need to change our mindset and not see them as kids just because they are younger than majority of us.
September 14th, 2021 at 6:40 AM ^
wait wut? West Greenwich CC? Those guys are fucking animals.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:29 PM ^
The program had a lot to lose with them not getting it done.... opportunity cost... So to trash it is beyond unbecoming.
And the part about pro aspirations... Harbaugh is the king of sending players to the pros over and above their star rating and talent.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:37 PM ^
The king of sending players to the pros over and above their star rating and talent? Have you seen how many guys have underperformed their rating here? And then gone on to be surprises in the pros because they probably weren't well developed at Michigan. It's kind of a trend.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:42 PM ^
DPJ and … ?
September 13th, 2021 at 6:51 PM ^
Nico, Onwenu, Chris Evans, Ben Bradenson, Gary. Those are a few others that were highly rated 4 or 5 star guys that always felt like they weren't being utilized well or under achieved. Onwenu wasn't a disappointment on the field but was a 6th RD pick so he may not hold up in my argument.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:57 PM ^
Nico and Evans are rookies, one game into the season. How have they “surprised” exactly?
Bradenson was first-team All-B1G, and has hardly been a surprise in the League.
Gary has been a surprise in the League how?
You don’t sound very knowledgeable, but sure won’t let that atop you from complaining.
September 13th, 2021 at 7:01 PM ^
Not being utilized well and being developed well are not mutually exclusive. Players that come out of Michigan are almost universally praised for their technique, how well they were coached, and their professionalism. Quite the opposite of, say, OSU QBs and DBs who are utilized and perform very well in college then get to the pros and get shit on by their coaches.
September 13th, 2021 at 7:14 PM ^
Well said.
This is the reason Belichick keeps collecting Michigan players.
What's Harbaughs recruit to pros rate now ? 68% so almost 7 in 10 it's outstanding.
You can criticize him all you want for some bad hires, but not player development. Take Gentry for example. This guy would be sitting home right now. Maybe McKeon too. And Rudock, Mason, etc.
Harbaugh is the king here.
September 13th, 2021 at 7:15 PM ^
You should get angrier. More vehement. Do it.
September 13th, 2021 at 8:33 PM ^
Bredeson played really well for the Giants yesterday.
September 14th, 2021 at 2:24 AM ^
But what about Bradenson? Obviously he's a huge fan to get it that incorrect.
September 14th, 2021 at 1:56 PM ^
Just stop!
September 13th, 2021 at 8:08 PM ^
hmmmmm. guys don't develop but end up in the nfl. something does not compute here.
September 13th, 2021 at 9:59 PM ^
They clearly came out of high school ready to go... ;-)
September 13th, 2021 at 9:12 PM ^
.Who cares if they trashed the program on the way out?
I do. I thought I was pretty clear about that. I generally write my replies in the first person and imply I'm the narrator of my own thoughts. I generally "wish luck in future endeavors" to the guys who leave on good terms, and don't bother for the ones who don't. Seems like a pretty fair equation.
The simple point of the matter is, this is sports. We root. We generally cheer for the boys that wear the maize and blue shirts, and boo the ones who don't. Now, maybe you cheer all of the boys on the field, and then hug your cat after a spirited outing of the sporting men. You celebrate all the young men for their scholastic and physical achievements! But I don't think that's the case...
You called "the program" "trash" in one sentence, and then shed crocodile tears for 19-21 year olds a couple sentences later. You DO see the cognitive dissonance there don't you? I'll help just in case... the 19-21 year olds are the program too.
Anywho, based on your little hijacking of my reply and the subsequent tirade here, if anyone is bent out of shape about things or needs to maybe re-evaluate your emotional response to things, it might be you.
Good luck to you and your cat. Maybe stay away from Mongolian Grills btw, it's not great food, and salmonella isn't worth it.
September 14th, 2021 at 6:37 AM ^
I have a cat, and he's the best one I've ever had. Great purr (High Motor), always happy to have attention, but doesn't need it all the time (Team Guy). Sleeps a lot, eats well, keeps his fur clean. (Works hard off the field, "Gym Rat.") I love dogs too, but nothing wrong with cats. Not a big Mongolian Grill fan, though.
September 13th, 2021 at 10:54 PM ^
Hold up…there was a Mongolian Grill Night in the dorm cafeteria?
September 14th, 2021 at 7:36 AM ^
Right! How cool would that have been? I stopped by in Ann Arbor over labor day and showed my middle school kids around. Everything is super posh. Do that have spas in the dorms now? Unreal.
September 14th, 2021 at 9:21 AM ^
Reminds me of when an elderly man was asked a few years back, "Well, what were you doing when you were 18?"
"I was on the beach at Guadalcanal."
Many at 18 have done some very serious, mature things....
September 13th, 2021 at 7:00 PM ^
Best part is UW and Texas suck too
September 13th, 2021 at 5:54 PM ^
lol, ok I feel bad for him but these are darn funny
September 13th, 2021 at 5:56 PM ^
This about killed me in the early games thread on saturday:
September 13th, 2021 at 6:20 PM ^
Funny, but stolen from Twitter (read that exact thing during the first quarter of that game)
September 13th, 2021 at 5:58 PM ^
That Taliban and ISIS remark saved this post from a downvote!
September 13th, 2021 at 11:12 PM ^
I watched the UT-Pitt game for about 15 minutes and witnessed three Milton overthrows. On two of them the UT WR had a step on their defender with nothing but green grass ahead. Pitt had no business winning that game but then again UT had Milton at QB.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:06 PM ^
Not going to lie, that last one is pretty good.
I do feel bad for him but also, we all sort of knew his problems went beyond an injured thumb. Like a lot of guys he's got a cannon but CFB is lousy with guys who can throw a mile and miss you by half.
September 13th, 2021 at 6:06 PM ^
After the 1st quarter of the Tennessee/Bowling Green game, Twitter was filled with UT fans professing how great Joe Milton looked. They were questioning why it didn’t work at Michigan.
I think the next 7 quarters provided their answer.
September 13th, 2021 at 7:21 PM ^
Yeah and the announcers from that 1st Tennessee game can KISS MY ASS!
