Happy Easter to my Christian Brothers here on MGOBLOG! Christ has Risen! What is everyones plans today? Any Easter traditions to share with the board?I hope you all have a great day worshipping our Lord. We are all just beggars in the presence of our King. The Tomb is empty and because of that your sins are forgiven, what a Glorious Day! I hear the weather is going to be nice in SE Michigan today, so get out and enjoy! For non Christians I hope you have a good day and just remember there is a seat at the table waiting for you, just come on in. God Bless all of you and I am praying for each and everyone of you!

Just finished the Sunrise Service (was at 6:15 am Central). My first Easter Sunday as clergy, so excited to see new faces already this morning and perhaps new ones at the 10:45 service as well. Christ is risen indeed!

After service? Food, baseball, sleep.

Wife & I preparing to go to first in-person service in over 1 year now (both now vaccinated).  Another bittersweet reminder of how this last year has been.

Praying that this Easter truly helps those in need find peace and hope.  May it be a reminder to us all, including those who have different beliefs, that not all is darkness out there and we need to supporting one another, not fighting.

Blue Me should be banned. Idk if I’ve ever seen grave dancing like that. Guy blames Covid for not seeing his wife in a year because she’s helping out in Japan (despite Japan being the “best in the world”). If they have it totally figured out, we could use her in literally any inner city in the country. Please come home! I’m guessing she’s just not that into you anymore and who can blame her?

Oh shoot... wrong thread. Have a brisket on the smoker and playing 9 holes this morning. Great day to have a day! Happy Easter to everyone!

Happy Easter, Blog!!

Though, despite years of parochial school education, I no longer believe, Easter and Christmas are still - and always will be - special days.  One things I've never figured out, though, was why Easter is not a federal holiday like Christmas.  Oh well, it doesn't need to be.  The day is special, and I wish you all the best day!

Two Points:

1) Easter is always on a Sunday.

2) Separation of Church and State is written into the constitution.

Happy Easter to you practitioners of Christian faith. Find strength in your beliefs and practice empathy for the rest of us without proselytizing.

The First Amendment only references that a national religion will not be established, called the Establishment Clause (Wikipedia):

The first amendment to the US Constitution states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The two parts, known as the "establishment clause" and the "free exercise clause" respectively, form the textual basis for the Supreme Court's interpretations of the "separation of church and state" doctrine.[40] Three central concepts were derived from the 1st Amendment which became America's doctrine for church-state separation: no coercion in religious matters, no expectation to support a religion against one's will, and religious liberty encompasses all religions. In sum, citizens are free to embrace or reject a faith, and support for religion - financial or physical - must be voluntary, and all religions are equal in the eyes of the law with no special preference or favoritism.[41]

Happy Easter!

Headed out to northern MI to visit the in-laws.  My father in law is a pastor of a church in Cadillac area.  Very long story short...He is one of the (very few) incredible men in my life and I cherish any time me and my family get with him.... so yes I am excited!

Have a great day everyone!

There once was a man who lived in a two story house.  The house was near a river and unfortunately the river began to flood.

As the river rose, warnings were given via radio, TV and shortwave. Large jeeps drove through the area to evacuate people.  As a jeep drove by the man's house, he was told:

"You are in danger.  Your life is at stake.  You must evacuate.  Get in the Jeep.  Let us help you evacuate."

"No," the man replied from his doorstep.  "I have faith.  I will be ok.  The flood won't get me.  God will take care of me."

The water continued to rise.

Soon the man was on the second floor.  A boat was going through the area and arrived at the man's house. Rescuers made every effort to convince the man to take action so that his life would be saved.

"You are in danger.  Your life is at stake.  You will drown in the flood."

"No worries," says the man.  "I have faith.  Everything is ok.  Even though the flood is rising, I will be fine.  God will take care of me."

The flood continued to rise.

The man went to the roof to avoid the rising water.  A helicopter pilot sees him on top of the roof and hovers above the man.  Using a megaphone, the pilot tries to convince the man to grab the rope ladder which was dangling above his head.

"You are in danger.  The flood is still rising.  You will drown if you do not grab the rope ladder.  Let us help you."

"No worries."  says the man.  "I will be fine.  Yes, the flood is higher but I have faith.  God will take care of me."

The flood rises.  The man drowns.

At the pearly gates, the man says to God:  "I had faith.  You let me die."

To which God replies: "I sent you a jeep, a boat and a helicopter.  What more could I have done for you?"

"Faith over Fear."

Unwittingly, I'd guess, you just smeared millions of people of genuine faith.

One can be observant at a distance, you know. Also, viruses don't care about the details of your faith or how "brave" you are.

You are missing the entire point. Sadly, most do. The gate is narrow. If you truly believe, you don't worry, he is in control. One can be observant at a distance I agree, but unless you immerse yourself, you are wasting your time and will only enter at the wide gate with most others. This is all in the Scriptures. I also agree that viruses don't care how brave you are, but again, if you truly believe, why would you be scared? Jesus has prepared a place for us, this is just a stepping stone, nothing more. You could die from anything at any time. A true man of Christ does not fear death because he knows Jesus has erased death. You sound attached to this world, I would not recommend that based on Scripture. God Bless you and Happy Easter!

I am not telling anyone that. I have no authority for that. I am relaying Scripture to try and save souls of people who choose not to consume the word of God.

Following Jesus is the best high I have ever had and the best part..... it's for eternity!

Less than a third of the people in the world are christians.    Over half the world worships differently (the remainder identify as secular/non-religous/atheist/agnostic).   By assuming that scriptures have some special meaning and that you understand that meaning (e.g. assuming that others who may worship differently than you have not chosen to “consume the word of god”), you appear to have assumed some authority.

Even within the less than 32% that identify as christians, you have assumed the authority to determine that many of them are not.   As you noted earlier in this thread: “Just cause someone says they are a Christian, means absolutely nothing”.   What makes you so sure that you’ve got it right?

From this Jew who is finishing up Passover today I wish you all a very happy and blessed Easter.  Whatever our differences in life are we are much more alike than different, and better when we work together than apart.  Enjoy your holiest day and hug your loved ones if you have the opportunity

Happy Easter to all!  I wish I could see all of our friends at church at a glorious Easter service.  But for the 2nd Easter in a row, our church is not having any in person services.  Or not on any other Sunday until the powers that be in our diocese deem the risk of covid is too low.  It's disappointing because a lot of other churches have figured out how to safely hold services.  We may investigate going to some other church for awhile until ours opens back up with in person services.
