Link to Matt EM’s most recent and favorable write up for him where he came off better than Chet Holmgren
November 9th, 2020 at 1:20 PM ^
Diabate looks so good. Athletic, can shoot the 3, put the ball on the floor a bit, defend, pass. I think Juwan can really fill in the holes in his game near the hoop and turn him into a pretty complete player.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:41 PM ^
That's exactly what I thought - this dude has like the same body type as Juwan and a very similar game. He even moves like Juwan. He's like the ideal candidate to work and develop under Juwan's eye.
And I was gonna put this in a separate comment on it's own, but: Juwan rules.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:14 PM ^
This kid is really good. But he is so unlike Juwan Howard - there is nothing similar at all. Both great in different ways.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:45 PM ^
Agreed. His physique and bounce are much more like Webber's at the same stage. Juwan at that age was a statue by comparison.
November 9th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
I don't really see that either. Webber was much more powerful and physically imposing but probably not as good a shooter. If anything, I would say more like a more polished Maceo Baston (more physically developed and better shooter but a similar type of dynamic big man). I also think he's very comparable to Todd last year but a bit stronger and maybe taller. JMO.
November 9th, 2020 at 4:37 PM ^
Yep, a Maceo Baston or Brent Petway, but with more skill (shooting/dribbling/passing). So an uber athlete with above average skill - YES PLEASE.
November 9th, 2020 at 3:47 PM ^
Yeah, I don't see any Juwan comparisons except they are both tall.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:22 PM ^
It was awesome right up until this part
Although I have no inside information, my gut tells me the G League will pursue Moussa.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:29 PM ^
This class looks better than the Fab 5 class. They don't have a Chris Webber, but they all can handle the rock and shoot.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:59 PM ^
Fab 5 had 4 players in the top 15-20 including the consensus #1 player in the country in Webber.
This class has 2 top 20 players at best and then a giant gap to our next best ranked player.
Its not even a comparison honestly.
November 9th, 2020 at 4:01 PM ^
Honestly, I cannot remember and it does not really matter but was Webber #1 or Big Dog Glenn Robinson?
November 9th, 2020 at 4:53 PM ^
Webber by a fairly big margin. He was unanimous #1 over multiple sources. That was over some other HUGE names like Glen Robinson, Jason Kidd, Travis Best, Cory Alexander, Juwan Howard, Alan Henderson, Voshon Leanard, Jalen Rose.
Webber and Howard were the 2 big fishes (in that order) with Rose extremely close, then King. Jackson was the outlier - if my horrible memory serves me right he would have been ranked around #125 plus or minus 25 spots.
November 10th, 2020 at 3:52 PM ^
Jason Kidd was a year behind Webber
November 10th, 2020 at 8:44 AM ^
Jimmy King or Ray Jackson? Neither one of those players were top 20 in the country talent. Neither were very good shooters or ball handlers. The consensus back then was Rivals. They had 4 McDonalds All America's but there was no consensus ranking system.

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to rain on the parade at a time we need some sunlight.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:19 PM ^
Michigan football died so that basketball could thrive, apparently.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:24 PM ^
We've been a basketball school for the last decade. Last weekend just sealed it. We are now better against Indiana basketball than their football.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:45 PM ^
Maybe ask Howard to recruit for the football team?
November 9th, 2020 at 2:06 PM ^
Coach? Clearly someone needs to.
November 9th, 2020 at 3:29 PM ^
Come on, man. Only the Great Zizzo is great enough to coach both football and basketball.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:09 PM ^
Awesome!!!! Go Blue!!!!
November 9th, 2020 at 1:10 PM ^
Welcome Moussa, Way to GoBlue!!!!!
November 9th, 2020 at 1:10 PM ^
What even is football.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:33 PM ^
Soccer of course.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:10 PM ^
What?
November 9th, 2020 at 1:11 PM ^
Can he also play cornerback?
November 9th, 2020 at 2:05 PM ^
Haha, yeah opposing WRs can forget about those 50/50 balls.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
This was completely unexpected, but very welcomed.
Paging Matt D!!! What is happening???
November 9th, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
This is good news.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
I'll wait until they are on campus to celebrate.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:17 PM ^
I too am still healing from past trauma, I feel you friend
November 9th, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
I get the sentiment but maybe just a quick victory shuffle is in order?
November 9th, 2020 at 1:24 PM ^
No no no my friend. Look at the date! 2020 is not over. Bad things are still to come.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:38 PM ^
Pretty sure Moussa uses the pronouns he/him.
November 9th, 2020 at 2:37 PM ^
I meant the entire recruiting class. Did we already forget what happened last year?
November 9th, 2020 at 1:14 PM ^
Wut?! Was not prepared for good news. Am not prepared to react. But I'll try.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
That was a surprise. Completely out of left field, but I'm happy because he was my #1 preference out of the bigs left in the recruiting board. He's a perfect modern big and his offensive development can't be ignored. If he can continue to get better at it, he should be a lottery pick when all is said and done.
It's great to be a Michigan basketball fan!
November 9th, 2020 at 2:17 PM ^
Yeah this is a nice complimentary piece to Dickinson. Reid would have been similar to Dickinson (which is still a good thing!). But this guy is going to add a different dimension. Howard will be able to plug and play these 2 depending on the circumstances.
November 9th, 2020 at 8:12 PM ^
That's what makes his commitment so great is he can fit in seamlessly with any lineup. Can play PF alongside Dickinson while covering Dickinson's lack of foot speed at the backside. He also can play C if they decide to go small and he's a perfect modern C who can keep up with smaller C while providing blocked shots. He'll give you enough spacing from the paint if he can continue to develop his offensive game. I'm sure Juwan will help him work on it
November 10th, 2020 at 12:25 AM ^
I wouldn’t call a 6’10 guy playing center “going small.” I guess he is smaller than Dickinson, so if you meant going small to mean having a shorter player than our very tall player in the lineup, then you are technically correct
November 10th, 2020 at 11:38 AM ^
What I mean by small ball is having a big who can switch and Diabete fits that mold. Small ball Center has to be able to switch on defense and spread out.
Look at Bam Abedayo, he's a PF in the regular season but he plays C in crunch time/playoff.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:18 PM ^
Wow nice. Did not expect this. Can we still get Reid as well? All IMG front court.
November 10th, 2020 at 8:48 AM ^
A connected user on another board is stating the Reid is definitely still in play, although i personally find that hard to believe.
I would have to think we would need attrition of 2 for that to happen. Maybe so.
November 9th, 2020 at 1:19 PM ^
we're a basketball school now
November 9th, 2020 at 1:19 PM ^
Welcome!!! Juwan bringing in possibly the top class in the country!!!A real Michigan Head Coach!!
November 9th, 2020 at 5:25 PM ^
Everytime I see that GIF I think "Look out Juwan, don't trip on that stupid cameraman's cord"
November 9th, 2020 at 1:20 PM ^
Him, Caleb Houstan , Bufkin, Barnes, Frankie Collins... all in one class?! Look out.
