Except it didn’t - ?
December 4th, 2018 at 11:29 PM ^
Not gonna lie...there was a small part of me that wanted that last shot to go in just to hate post/comment on all the HUR DUR ESPN BLOWS DUR threads.
Instead, it didn't. Which is good.
And now the hur dur crowd will go on to being insufferable assholes about something else. Which is bad.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:33 PM ^
And that small part of you is the part of you that is a troll.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:37 PM ^
Is it possible to be an insufferable asshole about insufferable assholes? Not saying that you're being one. You're expertly riding that edge sir! Kudos.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:44 PM ^
Are you fucking stupid bro?
December 4th, 2018 at 11:55 PM ^
Nothing like fighting fire with fire!
December 5th, 2018 at 12:07 AM ^
People are still calling people “bro” this late in 2018?
December 5th, 2018 at 12:18 AM ^
I do but only to people who are being rude to me or when I'm being passive aggressive. I guess it's an ironic way of using it?
December 5th, 2018 at 12:19 AM ^
LOL. Fair enough.
December 5th, 2018 at 2:49 AM ^
Probably all the way to New Years.
December 5th, 2018 at 6:50 AM ^
Only guys named Skippy
December 5th, 2018 at 6:53 AM ^
ya bro
December 5th, 2018 at 12:37 PM ^
I prefer "bruh" or "brah", but sometimes the "h" doesn't come through in my enunciation.
December 5th, 2018 at 6:38 AM ^
This is so fucking Michigan Fan of you - truly next level stuff. Salute.
December 5th, 2018 at 8:17 AM ^
This is good Kinja.
December 5th, 2018 at 10:55 AM ^
You should have lied.
December 5th, 2018 at 12:31 PM ^
I can understand a small part of you wanting a loss that is overall good for the program, for example, a loss so a coach gets fired and the program gets turned around may be a good loss overall for the program, even if bad in that short window. I get that. I've been there.
But an in-conference loss when 8-0 to prove a point to people on a message board? My god. Please smother and bury that small part of you...
December 4th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
Well it’s final shot to prove me wrong clanged off the backboard and rim so I don’t care just win baby.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
Michigan's last regular season loss came at Northwestern. It is a good win. I think this Northwestern team makes the NCAA tournament. Lost at Indiana by 2 points.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
Agreed. Northwestern looked pretty good. They almost took IU to overtime in Assembly Hall.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:56 PM ^
At the same time, Indiana is incredibly injured right now and definitely not at the same level that they were to start the year.
It's a kenpom tier A win either way, so I'll just take the fact that we overcame dumb Evanston voodoo and be thankful that we don't have to play there again for a year.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
47% of the time the damn thing is right.
Just not tonight....
December 4th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
So, technically we won this game as the underdog per the WWL.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
Reminded me of Andrew Gaze of Seton Hall's shot at the end of the 1989 championship game. Every time I watch the replay, I think it's going to go in. Damn good gutty win.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:20 PM ^
Yup.
And every time I watch Rumeal Robinson's two FTs i swear he's going to miss them....
December 4th, 2018 at 11:35 PM ^
Every time I watch Rumeal drive to the hoop I can't believe the ref actually called a foul.
December 5th, 2018 at 12:43 AM ^
I was more upset about it than Seton Hall was. He was not a good free throw shooter.
But it worked out.
December 5th, 2018 at 7:58 AM ^
True, but he worked on that all year after missing some in a clutch spot earlier. Definition of clutch.
December 5th, 2018 at 12:42 AM ^
Thank God we won that National Championship game. And we won it as close as you can, but we won it.
Michigan lost in four more National Championship games after that. But you could always hang your hat on the fact that they already won one before that.
I don't think I could handle 0-7 lifetime in National Championships.
No matter what else happens, we've won it.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
Proved em wrong, pfft freakin BSPN
December 4th, 2018 at 11:17 PM ^
Yup, it's hard to believe it, but conference road games are hard to win. We see it every year. Games at schools like Northwestern, Iowa, Nebraska, etc are usually coin flip games, even when they're not top25ish programs. That doesn't even factor in struggling upper level programs with rowdy crowds like Ohio State, IU, Maryland. Rarely do you have a pushover road game in conference.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:25 PM ^
I scoffed at their prediction, and will continue to do so, ESPN sucks. The fact that they suck, sucks, because this guy used to watch a lot of their programming.
Go Blue!! Holy hell, that was a close one. Fucking Chris Collins, that creep can coach, man.
December 5th, 2018 at 12:24 AM ^
Yeah, he’s great at being on the court the entire game and bitching in the refs ear ad nauseam. He was lucky to get the two phantom calls during their 15-2 run or this game was over.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:25 PM ^
One of the dumbest and weirdest things in sports discussion is people complaining about other people's predictions before the event has taken place i.e. when no-one knows how smart or stupid a prediction actually is.
Maybe the downside of all this 'we're a basketball school now' B.S. is that the entitlement and arrogance that has poisoned Michigan football is now coming to the basketball scene as well. Every basketball team in the country will lose a number of games this year...so one day soon Michigan will drop a game you fully expect to win. And it could easily have been this one.
December 5th, 2018 at 12:28 AM ^
While laughing like a little school girl, I told my wife last week to “remind me that we beat North Carolina by 17 when I’m pissed we lost to NorthWestern later in the season.” Didn’t realize the NW game was this week and that we could actually lose. The arrogance has most certainly set in, but it’s better than BPONE.
December 5th, 2018 at 12:43 AM ^
This. The board did it for the northwestern football game too. This and hating random things and going out of your way to prove you hate it when you could do anything else. ESPN, NBA, SEC, etc. Great, you hate them, go for a walk.
December 5th, 2018 at 7:22 AM ^
Sometime in the Hoke years, there was a prediction thread where a few predictions actually were downvoted heavily. Strangely enough, some of them turned out to be close to right. I forget which game precisely, but I found the whole exercise intriguing once the game results were known.
December 4th, 2018 at 11:33 PM ^
I was just going to come here and comment this
Some people here were acting like Michigan was for sure going to blowout NW at Evanston and ESPN should've had us as huge favorites
Michigan does not play well @Northwestern. Honestly its probably where we play the worst under Beilein. I figured itd be our closest game of the season and that show it turned out. I didn't think itd be that close though
December 4th, 2018 at 11:46 PM ^
NW played a heck of a game and is well coached
You thought this would be our closest game of the season? 32-0 woohoo!
December 5th, 2018 at 12:04 AM ^
Geez, even the football team was able to beat Northwestern by three
December 5th, 2018 at 1:24 AM ^
Good game, who's next?
December 5th, 2018 at 8:05 AM ^
Don't fall victim to Type 1 error. If I walked up to every person I encountered and predicted they'd be pregnant within 3 months, I'd be right sometimes. I'd also probably be about as accurate as the BPI
December 5th, 2018 at 11:58 AM ^
The BPI must have been a work of genius to predict that we would have to get extensive minutes from the backup center. I mean, we were plus 17 with Teske and Livers at 5. Good call by BPI

All you have to do is follow Nate Silver's work (among many others) to realize that people are bad at thinking probabilistically.
